I LOVE wagons! That's all we had as a kid and I'm 55 years old. I would be very interested in your products for my vehicles. Thank you for the relaxing videos.
Oh my goodness, I always look forward to Saturday morning to see what you are detailing but this really did it for me… I drive an ‘82 300td and I love these old Mercedes wagons! The OM617 engines in these are highly coveted by both classic Mercedes enthusiasts and Jeep off-roader engine swappers because of their stout construction, low end torque and good mileage, so it doesn’t surprise me that the engine has been cannibalized. What does surprise me is that A: Someone let this beautiful car get in such a state and B: that it hasn’t been totally parted out. If it weren’t for the rust, this car would be in pretty great shape. The 14” alloy Barock (AKA Bundt) wheels are in really good condition as is the trim, grille and light surrounds. Even the dash cap and interior seem to be in really serviceable condition. It makes me happy that you pulled this out and did this car right after someone did it so wrong… I am going to go wash my car and give it a hug.
Almost everything blue inside I thought was black. The polish on the paint was amazing. I really enjoy the way you do your content. If you haven't already, how about a video that tells your stories; and how you got to where you are now?
Hello, you are proof that no dirt is invincible!!! Level 10 cleaning satisfaction!! I hope this wagon becomes a happy donor to someone with a 300D memory and restoration project.
Officially my favorite channel. These barn finds and the details bring me back in time. Every one of these cars sitting there in this video were new when I was a kid. I remember being driven to school in one of these. Great content. 👍🏼
You guys did an amazing job for sure! Are there any restoration plans for this car? It would be sad to have your hard work to go to waste. Hoping someone will take the car in. These TD’s are absolute gems and should be protected at all costs!!!
I love those old Mercedes-Benz I had an uncle that used to have one of those you cleaned it up very well you guys impress me with everything you do every weekend keep up the good work
FYI those 'preheater' cables usually connect to an element just like you have in you hot water heater. That heater is usually in one of the freeze plug locations and it heats the water in the block to a certaing temp and keeps it there
A friend of mine lived in Oregon but came from Alaska and had one of those plugs. She said almost every new car came from the dealership with those pre-warmers installed. The idea was that you'd plug in overnight and the engine wouldn't drop below freezing... Apparently. ;)
We've had wagons all our life until the kids were grown up. So much more practical. I love the styling on this Merc. It would be amazing to see it with a rebuild and a new engine.
You Guys do some really sweet projects, have you ever kept up with say one of those barn finds that needed more after the TLC you guys put into them. Would be really cool to follow-up on one,to see if its on the street or in a show room.
I grew up with wagons! I started driving in the 60's and my father had two Chevy Wagons, one BelAir and one Caprice with Wood trim as well as a Ford Country Squire. When I married, once again I picked up an Oldsmobile Wagon from the 80's. To this day, I still pick up old wagons...my last two were a 90's Buick Roadmaster Country Estate blue wagon with 200k and was like driving a couch on wheels, and an 80's VW Passat Wagon totally loaded~ I'm a Wagon Girl!!!
Every panel on the car is rust rotted, does not have an engine, no way is it worth restoring. Great job cleaning it. Wish you guys were in Arizona. NO RUST!!
This transformation would be beyond belief if I hadnt just watched it happening. What a huge change. Sad to say, with all the severe rust damage like EVERYWHERE, this will likely become a parts source for other vehicles restorations or repairs. Keep up the great content, so kewl to watch. Thank you!
Mr. B. Here ! 👀😎👍🍸🇺🇸. For the most part ; that Ben’s wagon may have had a repaint ( Baby Blue ) might be rare ! Since wagons are disappearing , if the underside is not to bad make a sleeper out of it and have fun with it . Very nice on the clean up ! 👍👍👍👍🍸🍸
Wagons all day. It was my first car out of the military. Plus you got all of the benefits of a sedan with the extra space of the wagon. Awesome vehicles!
Hey guys. Love watching your channel. The 2nd badge is the official coat of arms from my beautiful island nation of Bermuda. We are a British terroritory just about 700 miles off Cape Hatteras North Carolina coast. That car obviously had some connection with someone from Bermuda 🇧🇲🇧🇲
Your best videos have been the Mercedes. Did Brett keep the Volvo? Did Robert keep the 1964 190 you initially did? I love wagons! Thank you and keep up the good work!
I honestly thought that the interior was black, but it's actually a very dark blue, but we couldn't see it because of all the years of mold and grime buildup. These are the kind of videos I like because the car's a light colour and you can see the difference between the before and after. Love your videos!
I am a retired GM Dealership mechanic. I prefer American vehicles, but I know that the materials they use on some of these "Mercedes" is very good. I have owned 5 vehicles in my life {67 yrs old} and at this time still own the last two. We live in a throw away world. You are showing that many of these vehicles can be worth fixing up. Thank you for that. The last 3 vehicles I purchased were NEW. I have the 1990 chev pickup and 2016 chev cruze. Clearly a good body man and new drive line, this would be a nice ride. As a mechanic I have seen some really gross vehicles and I was expected to work on them. I also noticed "mice" do not care if it is a Mercedes. In the shop we could tell just how cold winter is going to be by how many wiring harness were made into mouse nests.
In my country, those cars never die, the people just take them and make it road worthy no matter if it’s rotted from bottom to top. I saw some in a worst condition and getting back on the road with no major issues.
Oooh! This brings back so many memories. My father used to have a '83 Mercedes 300D. It wasn't a wagon, but the interior was almost exactly the same as this one. We travelled from Spain to Sweden (and back) in the summer of 1990 in that car. I suppose this one is too bad to be restored, but I hope some of your other 'rescues' have made it. Is is possible to know it or watch any restoration (after your detailing) in a different channel? Keep up the good work!
I bought a 123 series sedan in Germany that was 6 years old and it was as if off the showroom floor like new! The engine was the issue and after swapping it with a newer one the car lasted me through many years. This is a timely classic car and as many as possible should be saved.
id be willing to give your degreaser a try, if you can send some to the uk lol be interesting to see how it performs on our dirtbikes as well a as the cars i detail, awesome job guys amazing vid as always
The color is China Blue, and it is magnificent. I owned a w123 sedan alongside a convertible 560SL in Diamond Blue Metallic. I loved the sedan as it was a spectacular slow car, but I prefer the wagons lately.
Hello, I prefer the wagons. Unique styling, room for passengers, cargo alike. The auto detail will determine what level of restoration is needed. This wagon worth saving. A sporty beautiful car in desirable color. And collector pricey. Cheers 🥂 to quality n engineering
I love the W123 chassis Mercs. I own two of these grand ladies of the autobahn. An 83 300D sedan with 240k miles on it and an ultra rare 1978 230 sedan, which was a one year only 4 cylinder gas engine powered model with a mere 67k miles. Both are completely original.

Don’t really prefer just like seeing older vehicles lol 👊

This car doesn't need a detail, it needs a restoration.
Both for sure. We already got the detail though. Now it just needs to be restored.
It needs a miracle to be honest
It,s too much rusty and not engine...better to scrap

Will it start?
Im guessing they meant the glowplugs, but since they are 'Muricans , they dont even know what those are for in a diesel family car 😂

The quality, eye for detail and the materials they used was really of a high level. Really build to last a long time.

Even though this beast needs loads more work, the cleaning process was a real treat, love the video and that colour too.
The badges are markers you get in Germany to show how many miles you have on the car, kinda like trophies earned by the car
