  • In this video we are taking a look at the new Yeti Roadie 48 cooler on wheels. We reviewed the younger sibling of this cooler, the Yeti 24 Roadie Cooler in Charcoal a year or two ago and have been loving it ever since.
It has been our go-to cooler as it has the perfect amount of storage, solid ice retention, and a small footprint so that it may fit within your vehicle. Perfect for road trips! (Hint the name roadie!)
This Yeti on 48 quart cooler on wheels is basically the 24 cooler scaled to twice the size and features a sleek telescoping handle that has plenty of length to provide excellent leverage when loaded down.
The biggest cons of this cooler are the price point ($450 at the time of this video) and heavy weight when loaded down.
The biggest pros of this cooler are the depth (near 15.5” of vertical clearance) and obviously the wheels. Also, a drain plug is included unlike the yeti 24 roadie! That’s a big bonus.
We have a new website! www.recruit-creative.com/

Our ice test showed the cooler capable of having ice storage for 4-5 days provided ideal conditions with a 70 degree climate. Expect to knock a day off in a warmer climate! On the other hand, we loaded the cooler full of drinks (approximately 60% of the space occupied) so it’s possible to get longer ice retention if you only occupied 50% of the space, 40%….etc!

Got the new red color coming and I already have the first wheeled cooler they made in blue and have only used it once. Being 6’5 trying to bring the cooler with me is ridiculous because the handle is so short. I think this cooler will be used more frequently. Hopefully 🤞🏽 thanks for the video!

Yes it should if I remember correctly. Check the specs on yetis website to be sure but I think it has plenty of clearance

    Did you pre ice it?

I did not sacrifice a bag of ice to pre chill it if that’s what you mean. That would help for certain. I would never use it like that in practice though so I felt it was practical to leave it out of the test

Waffling between this one and the 60 -- whichever it is, it is it needs to fit on the backset of a Jeep JL.

I’d say a 60 might be pushing it to fit! The 48 is pretty large

I have the 60 fits with no issue and I drive a Volvo XC90

@@MrKirkaudi, eventually went with the 60. It fit OK with the seat up, but it fit better with the seat down. The only thing we need now is a drain plug that could take a garden hose as getting a loaded Yeti out of the jeep would not be easy, wheels or not. Already bought and returned one fitting that was supposed to fit the 60 (it didn’t), so now I’m just using a siphon to drain out the water as needed.
