Haven't purchased a Yeti Cooler yet because of cost however if I were to look into getting one I am a huge fan of the Roadie 24! That looks like one I would have for life! Great video
Derek Winn don’t do it. We just returned our M30. 1) the magnets were a PITA to use. It was fine by myself using my nalgene bottlento hold it open but I don’t want to carry that around 2) the shape sucked. It crushes stuff towards the top. You can lid a bunch of crap in the bottom but you run out of space REALLY fast because of the dumb shape of it. Love my tundra and will probably buy a roadie 20 to replace the M30 we just returned. Looked at the flip 18 but it’s $300 and I figured the only benefit I gain from going that route was ease of carrying on a shoulder. However, I do not find that to be worth $100 plus the loss of other benefits from the roadie 20. Dry ice, larger capacity, more sturdy so we can stack on top of it, ease of draining if we use regular ice.
The only downside to the M30 that I have found is loading it up. The magnet closing it shut can be a bit annoying, if you don’t have an extra pair of hands or something wedged inside to keep it open. On the other hand, not having to worry about people not closing the zipper is nice.
I have the M30 and absolutely love it! Did a makeshift ice retention test and got about 4 1/2 days out of it before it was totally melted. It's worth every penny.
@@TopPinOutdoors I put 22 lbs of ice in it and kept it in my garage. The top temp outside was in the low 80's and I would open it to check throughout each day. I don't anticipate this performance on the beach or in 100 degree weather but I was still very impressed and would recommend this cooler to anyone. It's fantastic.
Within the past 2 months I’ve gotten the 24, the hopper 12, the backpack cooler, and 2 lunchbox’s😅 + some ramblers and can holders… love yeti wish I could have one of each cooler!!
@@aquilararmando I sold half of them, don’t like the soft coolers they sweat too much will get your car or whatever they’re up against wet, don’t clean well/any stains will not come out. Igloo keeps stuff cold almost as long and is 1/5 th the weight and 1/10th the cost. Lol. And their cups are heavy and inconvenient I never end up using them, not to mention the steel they’re made from makes the coffee taste like crap
I have the yeti 24 and I love it. I own a landscaping business and its been keeping the ice cooler and longer for about 2-3 days. fits In the back of my F-250 Extended cab.
It is important for people to know when it comes to the m30 that when you load it up it does get a kinda awkward bag shape to it that gets awkward to carry
Good to know! I just got a bright orange roadie 24 for mother’s day! But, I like dry items like beef jerky and dried fruit, too! So, based on your comment, I’m gonna get the dry storage basket. 🤗🤗
The new m30 2.0 is AMAZING!! They fixed the issue with loading the cooler and the magnets now stay open somehow so you an load it up then the shut close like magic!!
Good comparison, Dustin! We have an old Igloo that's about the same dimensions as the Roadie 24. I love the fact it can handle a tall bottle standing up, but didn't make it past 1 1/2 days of 80' heat and food was basically warm, not good, so we just bought the Roadie 24. In 15 or so years we've had the old tall Igloo, or our Playmate, I have never wished it had a drain. I don't think a small cooler really needs one. By the time you load food and drinks in it, there really isn't a lot of room left for ice, so we tend to use a little ice mixed with Blue Ice freezer packs on top. Whatever ice melts leaves water only on the very bottom where the cans are anyways. I will say that fitting the Roadie 24 in the space behind the front seat of our 4Runner is a no-go unless you move the front seat much farther forward, whereas our old Igloo fit perfectly.
I bought the yeti backflip 24 (best cooler ever) Just ordered the flip 12 for work now when I go out for a trip the 12 holds the food and backflip holds the drinks 😎
I should know by the end of next week as I will load it up and do just that I'll try to reply but even half full it's very versatile but I've only walked from the truck to the barn or garage about 50 feet
You can fit a hell of a lot more in the m30 than people think. My usual is 1 4lb ,1 1lb of yeti ice on the bottom, 24 cans (bottom fits exactly 19 cans standing up), a 2 lb yeti ice on the top of the cans , dump in a bit of ice, then 10 Capri suns for the kids and top it off with ice . So I estimate 11 to 12lbs of ice alone since I always buy two 7 pounders and have some ice left in the bag . But damn is it heavy lol. I usually have it on a wagon anyway. That always gets me 58 hours of ice retention , a little more than 3 days of cold drinks which I tested quite a few times. The roadie 24 you can also fit quite a bit. You can easily fit a yeti ice 4lb pounder 24 cans on top of that and some ice on top. If you don't use ice you can use another 4 lb yeti ice or ozark trail 4 pounder. Thats good enough for a day or two if you prechill your drinks. I never prechill my coolers though. If you use the recommended ice ratio of course you'll get more out of it. With that said compared to the m30 my otterbox trooper lt30 actually gets better ice retention of 64 hours . It beats it by 6 hours....They both have the same 30 quart capacities. But I still choose the yeti, I'm worried about the otterbox latch breaking if some else operates it other than me. Yeti you just don't worry about it. But the exterior of both are exactly the same rugged materials. In my opinion for soft coolers the otterbox box trooper is the only one thats comes close to yeti as far as quality.
I just bought the Purple Roadie 24. I plan on getting an M30 next swimming season so the family can utilize it. It seems way too big for just lugging around a 12 pack. I think an underrated feature of the Roadie 24 are the latches. Much easier to open and CLOSE the cooler for kids, some women, older folks, etc. than the old 20. Maybe I will save enough to buy the new Roadie 48
My flip 18 zipper made it about 8 months before coming apart. It lives in the back seat of my work truck with nothing ever getting set on top of it. I’m expecting the M30 any day now. Yeti has an amazing warranty and costumer service.
Excellent review man! I think for my purpose the Yeti Roadie 24 is more than enough. I was looking at the Yeti 35, but I didnt realize that the Roadie 24 was actually that big!
@@TopPinOutdoors I was asking if the capacities for all the coolers was the same for glass bottles as aluminum cans. For example, does the M30 hold (20 )12 oz bottles or (20) 12 oz cans?
I prefer the newer 24. Same price. More space. Same ice retention. I prefer the strap over the steel bar handle (just my opinion) it carries better. And the added height works as a chair. 1 downside is the lack of a drain plug, but for my use, its not a big deal.
This guy said that yeti coolers don’t leak well my yeti roadie 24 tipped over and it lead some water it coming out where they patched the two ends of the seal, make a video on that
I have not done any reviews on this because I feel there would be too many variables in my review. Example if i did it inside at 65 degrees or if one cooler is larger and has more ice than the smaller one does that keep it cooler inside longer? Etc. Now i can tell you that the majority if the time i have found the hard coolers to hold ice longer and for many days where the soft coolers will hold ice for a few days depending on the outdoor temperature and how often you are opening and closing it etc
Yes they sure do! The Flip 18 just has a little more room for extra ice. The Flip 12 holds just a 12 pack so the only ice you are getting is the ice that sits on top if that makes any sense!?
@@TopPinOutdoors I didn’t give it a thumbs down. I had my headphone in and the intro music was very loud. Much louder than the video. I liked the video you did a great job explaining the cooler. I’m going to get one this morning.
