Not a practical solution. Most adults, (by no real fault of their own) aren't capable of teaching a student through highschool. Anecdotal as this is, every homeschooled person I've ever known is pretty badly educated and poorly adjusted. Also, it can make college admission difficult. I know the "fuck college" sentiment is popular with this crowd, but closing doors on your child in an attempt to exert total control over them and the opinions and situations to which they're exposed isn't fair to them. Also, people kind of need to work in order to support themselves and their families. I guess the real question is- what sacrifices are you prepared to make? Homeschooled in a tent.

Not a practical solution. Most adults, (by no real fault of their own) aren't capable of teaching a student through highschool. Anecdotal as this is, every homeschooled person I've ever known is pretty badly educated and poorly adjusted. Also, it can make college admission difficult. I know the "fuck college" sentiment is popular with this crowd, but closing doors on your child in an attempt to exert total control over them and the opinions and situations to which they're exposed isn't fair to them. Also, people kind of need to work in order to support themselves and their families. I guess the real question is- what sacrifices are you prepared to make? Homeschooled in a tent.

I homeschool my kids through a public charter school, and this abuse of power in hunting parents who voice their concerns frightens me so much that I am now on the verge of completely removing my kids from public education.
