I, like Daniel at the time in Daniel 10:17-19 I’m ill struggling to breathe and am weak, but this was a helpful visual example of God strengthening us in our weakness to seek him and to listen to him, we can never be too tired for God. He is our strength, praise him.
Books of prophecy let us know that there is a greater plan, that God is working out something not even the angels know about. And, at least for me, they show just how complex and wonderful God’s plan and creation are. I’m comforted to know that He’s got this and I’m thankful for the reminder that He’s where the joy is.
I've been grateful for this reading plan this year. I mostly stayed on track up through July. At 1st when they told my husband in early November last year that he only had 6 months to live (dx with rare aggressive and already advanced metastatic stage 4 cancer), I thought it might be nice to double up and try to get through the whole Bible before my husband died. However, God implored that I stick with the plan to build the consistency that would carry me through the hard times especially during grief after his death. God granted him 10 months. And that was the right plan. I got behind in August the last 3 weeks of his life in the hospital. I was able to and wanted to continue after he died. I've also not been daily consistent in grief, but I'm still going forward. I am now doing 3 days per Dat because I both got 30 days behind AND I am not back to every single day yet. As of today, I finished Daniel and started Ezra and am only ~23 days behind. But throughout this grief journey, I have found that I am right on time with God still showing himself to me. Again, thank you! #widowday47
One of the principles I’ve learned from TLC (especially in her book on the Trinity: “He’s Where the Joy Is”) is God’s use of progressive revelation. We talk about the “400 Years of Silence” between the OT and NT, but God has shown Daniel very specifically what happens during that time. And then, for the first time in the OT, we get an explicit declaration of the afterlife and our eternal home with the Lord! I see that this progressive revelation is true in my own life: I would have been completely incapacitated if God revealed to me beforehand what He had planned, and the number of days He chose for my daughter to live. And when I am doubled over with grief and despair, He reaches out, touches me, and says “Don’t be afraid. You are very precious to God. Peace! Be encouraged! Be strong!” (Dan 10:19)
I am so very sorry for your loss. I do appreciate reading your commentary and look for it every day. This perspective on knowing what is to come for us here is eye opening. So glad I know Him and have a peep at his perspective as well!
God is so gracious I'm our grief! I prayed for his presence, peace, and mercy and compassion when my sweep Momma died, and yes he delivered! Thanks be to God!
I'm very sorry for your loss I can't imagine losing my child. Grief is something is very hard to deal with and you're right it would have been even harder knowing in advance. I too come here after watching TLC and search for your comments because you are very wise, and I get a lot more understanding of it after reading your comment. Thank you for your comments.
The knowledge of God is sufficient enough. Even though we don't know the full answers. Even the angels don't know the whole answers. Just keep your gaze on Jesus, keep learning of him and keep following him. Just as Daniel Daniel 11:32b KJV [32B] ...........but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. Daniel 12:3-4 KJV [3] And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. [4] But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.
Something you said Hit me hard... I'm paraphrasing here, but it goes something like - if we know what to expect then we are let off the hook for trusting God. Wow!! I really needed to hear that!!! I want to learn so much, but maybe I get confused because I want to know for the wrong reason. Thank you.
I agree Angela. This hit me between the eyes too. I like to know the plan and have a plan & be in charge of the plan. This realization that this might be a lack of trust was powerful. And a little painful. ❤️🩹
I had the same thought! The LORD is working to help us increase our trust and relationship with Him, not just to keep us "in the know"! I loved hearing this so much! ❤
I agree ladies. It also reminded me of the verse in Isaiah 40: 31 “but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 ESV Waiting is such a hard thing for me. It is so hard to sit back and wait on Him but he has us covered all the time, in His way, always with His love and patience.
““As for you, go your way until the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days, you will rise again to receive the inheritance set aside for you.”” Daniel 12:13 NLT This is my Godshot, seeing God being so kind and compassionate to Daniel, after all he has done, God tells him to rest, and that everything will work out in the end, God is so good, God is so kind. Have faith and God’s plan because it will prevail. God bless y’all today.
The comfort from all of this prophecy is that it be for a certain amount of time, and then it will be finished. What a glorious day it will be when all of the things of this world will be done away with. No more violence, suffering, or sicknesses. Daniel received so much information about what would occur in the end times. I know it had to be troubling to hear all of these things. But Daniel lived his faithful life and was able to rest. The day is coming when everything will be at rest and be completely perfect as the Lord intended. "But go your way till the end. And you shall rest and shall stand in your allotted place at the end of the days" (Daniel 12:13 ESV). Amen to being able to rest in knowing who God is. There is absolute peace that we can have even though we don't have all of the answers.
Amen! I love the ESV but read it in the CSB this morning. "But as for you, go on your way to the end, you will rest, and then you will will stand to receive your allotted inheritance at the end of the days." ❤️
I'm so glad we are sheep and God is our shepherd. God knows all. This is complicated and confusing text. We don't have to concern ourselves over what is to come. God tells us not to worry. God is in control. We have to make ourselves right before God. We have no other concern other than humbling ourselves before God to serve Him and honor Him. One day, we will accept the inheritance He gifts us with. We know and we understand that loyalty to God He will forgive our sins if we ask. He, for His Glory, will have mercy on us. He is refining us and in Him we are strong. Relationship with God allows us wisdom and peace from Jesus and God, our Savior. "He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are rolled up and sealed until the time of the end. Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand." Daniel 12:9-10 NIV
This last part was tough, but I love what you said. We have to keep an open hand with all of scripture. I am behind like you said. But I am determined to finish. 105 days to go!
I love how in Daniel 10:12 God’s Messenger (angel) uses positive reinforcement with Daniel. He says, “Do not be afraid Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard and I have come in response to them.” I feel like God knew that’s what Daniel needed at that time, positive reinforcement. Reading through the prophets has been difficult for me, especially Daniel. I can only imagine how difficult it was for the actual prophets.
Thank you for your insights and understanding……what a blessing TBR is to me❤ I was feeling like I was just keeping my head above the water……I don’t need to understand it all just keep my hands and heart open and see God in it all❤
We are greatly loved; amazing even in our iniquity. Set your ❤️ on God, be humbled, study and know God. Trust Him, be at peace. He strengthens us. “Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to UNDERSTAND and HUMBLED yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. And he said, “O man greatly LOVED, fear not, PEACE be with you; be strong and of good courage.” And as he spoke to me, I was STRENGTHENED and said, “Let my Lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”” Daniel 10:12, 19 ESV
This is one of two passages I’ve seen where God lets us know that while Heaven is eternal, there is a passage of time (3 weeks here, and 30 min of silence in Revelation before breaking a seal). And it shows that God and His powers are active in protecting us. I can rest, like Daniel, knowing that there is no one like our God.
Beautiful Saturday morning bible Family thank God for another book and I'm learning so much Thanks TBR team and TLC Have a blessed day in His Presence ❤️🙏
All kingdoms crumble except one. This book shows there is a lot that is unknown until the end days. That is where we are. We see the Bible coming to life before our eyes. Should we fear? No. Daniel saw all these things and was in great fear. But look what God did. He sent an angel to comfort Daniel from his fears, and to strengthen him. The angel repeatedly told him he was loved. Loved. If God loved Daniel and comforted him, how much more does He do that for us, the recipients of this word that this was spoken for? “And behold, a hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. And he said to me, “O Daniel, man greatly LOVED, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for now I have been sent to you.” And when he had spoken this word to me, I stood up trembling. Then he said to me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. The prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days, but Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I was left there with the kings of Persia, and came to make you understand what is to happen to your people in the latter days. For the vision is for days yet to come.” And he said, “O man greatly LOVED, fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage.” And as he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, “Let my Lord speak, for you have strengthened me.”” Daniel 10:10-14, 19
Aloha, praise the Lord, and good afternoon BR family. Glory be to God for his blessing and favors today. Another great day of reading, understanding and meditating on his words. I really loved and enjoyed the Book of Daniel because it inspired me to always trust God in everything we do. Keep God first and foremost. I am glad that he is my father. He is where the JOY is!!!!
I loved how TLC addressed the way we look at these prophecies . My focus has been on the wrong thing. Why did I not look to see what GOD is saying? (Not to say that I my growth in knowledge and understanding I may learn the meaning…) Things are going to happen. Forces are going to battle, but GOD have a team fighting with Him for us. “You are mine, align your heart with mine and you have nothing to fear. Get your name in the book and I HAVE you.” 💙. I will not be oppressed forever 🔜 There is a glourious reward when this all end. May not be in this lifetime but in the next. 🙌🏽🙏🏽🕊️💙
honestly Tara if it were not for me taking a 3rd trip with your recap ..I would be fumbling thru this book forever!!! I learb something new every time 😀
Dear team at TBR the link to the ESV study bible actually leads to a journaling bible. If not intended please correct the link! And thank you all so much for your work, that brings the recap each day to our devices ❤
This was perhaps the only recap I felt did a disservice to the passages. Daniel 11 predicts not only Alexander the Great but thr rivalries of the smaller empires of his four generals for many generations following. It is one of the most stunningly accurate prophetic passages and a remarkable apologetic for the Bible but it has been treated here as, "Oh let's be humble, we don't really know." At least this video points towards study Bibles. Read the notes in the NIV study Bible on this passage and you will see what I'm talking about. Even Alexander himself was told he was the fulfillment of the prophecy. He was bent on destruction but the day before he was to attack Jerusalem he had a dream of people approaching him in white robes.the next day he saw his dream come true. It was the priests of the Jerusalem temple. So he had them offer sacrifices to the God who had appointed his victories. Bur if I hasn't just told you, you wouldn't have known that. And that is unfortunate. A missed opportunity.
The point of TBR is to consider God’s character, and then only secondarily to provide resources for further research. There are many times during the course of the year in the Recap where she provides articles and points to discoveries about the truth of the Bible.
