    Though occasionally much different in the details, fourteen years later, this was made into a film by director Nicolas Roeg called `Track 29', starring Theresa Russell and Gary Oldman, most of which followed the same script almost word for word, but which the director made into a much stranger, more overtly perverse and celebratory insane vehicle than `Schmoedipus' had been. Still a distinctly different and interesting film nonetheless.

But have just discovered this just now and wish i had seen this before 1977 . It is so cool. And instead of shock treatment i can see a way to take tim currys parts in this and turn it into either a prelude to Rocky Horror or a sequel

    • @chantelleadlington
      @chantelleadlington  3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Basically she confessed at the end that she killed her baby so he isn't really in her house at all, it's all in her head, she has mental problems.
      It's based on a Greek mythology called Oedipus. The story goes that Oedipus was born to King Laius and Queen Jocasta of Thebes, the king didn't want the prophesy to come true (which is that their son would kill his father and marry his mother) so they left him on a hillside when he was born but a sherpard found him and gave him away to the king polybus and Queen merope to raise him as their own.
      Oedipus learns about the prophecy as an adult but so he leaves and goes to thebes, he kills king Laius who unknowingly to him is his father and marries the King's widow which is his mother, so the prophesy came true unknowingly to Oedipus.

    • @abadstroller
      @abadstroller 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It seems like Liz's husband Tom has some psych issues of his own, too.
      Somehow, over the years, they developed this sick symbiotic "game" that allows their individual specific traumas out to play alone (e.g., Liz's imaginings of Glen/Adrian) and with each other.
      It works for them...until their neighbor involves herself, possibly triggering Liz's fugue state or fantasy dream about her son.
      Whether Dorothy actually saw a strange man at their door-maybe she did, maybe she made a mistake, maybe she's a busybody who enjoys winding people up with drama...or maybe she has her own crazy to work through (I mean, seriously-look at her manic eyes and how intense she is).

      It’s very natural. He’s a Venus in Taurus; so am I. My husbands coworkers think I’m very flirty and he has to explain to them I’m just like that. Venus in Taurus people are extremely sensual when attempting to be sweet. Although I think the intention here was to be a bit flirtatious, which is kind of gross seeing as he’s her imaginary little boy. Maybe her kink.

    • @lilsbourne
      @lilsbourne ปีที่แล้ว +11

      It is purposely sexual, they almost kissed several times+ all those inappropriate touching and breastfeeding simulation😂 The traumatized mind of that woman, which is also full of guilt and shame, blended her husband, her rapist and her baby together and created this generalized image of a man Glenn ( Tim's character). Glenn is seductive, persistent, aggressive and creepy like that rapist. He also loves trains and ignores her like her husband but also has this kind of a soft side - Adrian, that represents everything that she ruined with her deed - pure innocent love that a child has to its mother and those wonderful things she could have had with him - playing, feeding him, teaching him and watching him grow and develop etc. Her friend called her and basically triggered a psychotic episode. The heroine was already feeling lonely and abandoned and that trauma and shame that she was dealing with for years finally got outside.
