Hey guys! I'm so happy to finally be able to get this advent unboxing up! This one is brand new to the channel and it is super adorable! However, I am a little worried about the quality and therefor the value of the calendar. A lot of the adorable cat items sadly seem to be pretty low quality. I dont know almost anything about this brand so please let me know your thoughts especially if you are familiar with Paul & Joe! Love ya💖
Put cats on something and people loose their ability to think. My big fur buddy says his feelings are hurt because Labradors are rarely seen on merchandise. 😞😟😖😌😜
I think Paul & Joe is a popular brand in Japan, and this calendar seems like it's catered to the Japanese market. The overall cat/retro aesthetic, the light tones, the parasol, the house slippers, the face cloth, I think that's the market this was for. It’s like Fukubukuro (lucky bag) in advent calendar form.
This, absolutely. Also why the slippers didn’t need to be sized. Their range of shoe sizes sold in stores there is pretty small as they’re a generally homogenous population.
That orange hand towel on day 23 is for drying your hands after visiting a public bathroom. It’s a thing in Japan. Most women and girls carry one in their purse since there may not be any paper towels in public restrooms. Day 24 is a bag to carry your bento box. Also the Paul & Joe lipstick case is an original design. Aliexpress and others ripped off the design.
@@keawarrenI just wish Alexandria understood that not everything comes off aliexpress that in fact aliexpress has ruined so much because they have lead the sheep to the slaughter thinking everything is mass produced when in reality a lot company's do have orginal designs that unfortunately have been ripped off for a cheap produced mass product
Honestly Douglas Adams and Japanese people are on to something - I always carry a little hand towel with me and it gets used on the regular. Sometimes its the only option, often its the preferrable one.
A lot of Japanese schools don't allow their students to wear makeup to school so there's a huge market for really light make up so that it's not super obvious students are wearing it. If this is a brand that's aimed at younger people that may be why the makeup isn't super pigmented.
My husband is working away. So i have fed my kids, made myself a pizza, poured a wine, lit some candles and am sitting next to my Christmas tree watching someone open a calendar i will never buy... Honestly this is a great wednesday ❤️

Paul & Joe is a French fashion brand, but he beauty line is under a Japanese license. The products are from Japan and natural/low pigment is what’s on trend.
I do want to say re "finding it on aliexpress" Aliexpress is often full of designs stolen from brands. Just because you can find it for cheap wholesale, doesn't mean it wasn't once unique to that brand and got copied. I got the P.Louise calendar this year because of your review last year. (Not gonna lie I thought about buying it, wasn’t going to, and then I had surgery and bought it after I was still high on anesthesia😂) but so far it’s really really good. I’ve actually given the first 2 days to my mom but it’s been amazing! Can’t wait for you to unbox it
@@Rochianna I've seen someone unboxing it and it's pretty good. I think I even prefer it to last year's. I just think it was lacking in a certain department. And the amount of storage you end up with... It would look super cute on a little girl's room with a bunch of toys inside.
I watched someone unbox this year's PLouise advent calendar and I want it, and I wouldn't have any use for most of the products. 😂 She really puts a lot of thought and creativity into her calendars.
bahahaha a really firm jell-o cube from the Chinese buffet. I already knew what it felt like after you described it as poking your finger into one of those candles as a kid but the jell-o cube description made it even better loll
I believe the flowers are Chrysanthemums. A popular Japanese flower. I looked up the company and it’s a very popular Japanese brand, which makes sense with the items inside the calendar. Their primers are extremely popular for Japanese women, which again makes sense why there are several.
I believe the green bag is like a travel back, often used for lunches. You put your stuff in the bag, and you put one loop into the other and carry it with a single handle
It’s a shopping bag. In most countries we tend to pop into a shop on the way home to pick up a few small things, so we don’t need giant bags. You do use both handles, if it was a bag carried the way you mention the handles would be different sizes. I have several that I’ve had for 15 years or more ◡̈
@@jaybee4118in America we generally do large grocery trips weekly since grocery stores tend to be larger and farther away, neighborhood type stores are usually gas stations or drug stores that only really carry canned goods, milk, candy, chips, and eggs...or questionable bananas. At least in my experience living in suburban areas
I cannot say much for the quality, but this is certainly a Japanese-style themed/marketed Advent. Probably for tween/teen girls. It's also cute as heck. omgosh.
I came across Paul & Joe the first time when I lived in Japan and some friends there recommended the brand to me. Personally I love their foundation primer, but sadly it seems like they aren't sold that much in other countries. Seeing this made me super excited and slightly jealous 😆
Love the research and breakdown you do and how you don't just blindly accept what they tell us!!!! I do also think it's important to remember that sites like aliexpress do notoriously steal photos and rip off buyers by selling worse quality knock off items (not to say I think that's what's happening here, but we can't always trust the listings of these sites either!)
I'm so excited to see this one. I've seen this brand and previous years calendars and I've always wondered what they make/sell (but not enough to Google it I guess.) Having watched, while it's better than others, Alexandria's advent season continues to my perfect FOMO killer, making sure I don't waste my money on advent calendars (even if it has weird cat plushies in them)
I had to Google junk Journaling and I quickly backed out. I can't even dive into that because my borderline hoarder self would definitely Spiral. I have enough junk. My entire room is a junk journal.
I absolutely adore you!! This calendar was definitely interesting. 4 primers….thats enough Primers! Also, between you, Tato and Wren, y’all make for the best day brighteners ever❤
I feel like this calendar may be aimed towards the Asian market what with the very pale colors, the small slipper size and the sun blocking umbrella. And also everything being so cute. Just a hunch!

French and Japanese woman wear low pigmented items which is the two areas this brand seems to target, they tend to wear tinted sunscreens or bb creams, which is why it is mostly pale primer foundations. It is not western makeup and not targeted to us. Edit: also kinda annoyed that she stopped mentioning that the are primer foundations hence the shade names on them, and not just primer
There are 3 foundations, not just primer but most likely lighter covered foundations that also have the same effects of primer (hydrating, illuminating, spf). So 3 2-in-1 foundations and 1 actual primer. It’s definitely not targeted to medium, darker or tanned complexions. But French and Japanese females who follow the main trends of light, natural makeup for their respective countries and have light skin are the main targeted demographics. But the UV light umbrella which is very popular in Japan is a dead giveaway.
I have never purchased an advent calendar. Ever. And I fear after watching you unbox so many of them over the years, I most likely never will. They all seem like scam/money grabs. So thank you Alex for helping me and so many others save our coins! 😂❤

Another Advent calendar unboxing channel came up on my feed. I didn't click on it because this channel, aside from liking Alexandria and thinking her accent is major cute to my English ear, she is honest in her reviews. Most refreshing. Oh, and those darling little doggies...
Dang, that's super cute! And yes, i don't buy chocolate Easter bunnies because I don't like chomping on their ears 😂 Pups going wild over their treats me cry laughing! Thanks for the fun! 🤗🎄✨
I love the cat advent calendar idea! It’s fun to see a different kind of advent calendar than the standard beauty ones. I personally don’t buy a lot of beauty products. If there was an advent calendar for crafts, baking, or cleaning, I’d considered it. LOVE your advent calendar season!
Oh girl I also do the giving emotions to inanimate objects thing and so does my mum! We both cried last week when my dad tried to throw our teabag caddy away 😂 you've never seen a man pull something out of the bin so quickly! I've heard some people say that it's linked to autism (mum's autistic, I'm not), but I am told it's- unsurprisingly- linked to high levels of empathy. It does add another layer of complication to life (the emotions get VERY intense sometimes) but I like to think we're just good people ❤️
When you staretd talking about the gel blush texture, my head went STRAIGHT to the glade air fresheners. So glad I'm not the only one who poked those...
I haven't scrolled through to see if anyone answered you but the flower is a chrysanthemum. ❤️ It's a popular flower in Australia around Mothers day to give to our Mums.
This one was SO CUTE ❤❤❤ they would ABSOLUTELY get me like a chump with just the packaging alone 😅also my favorite part of your videos is your doggies opening their own advent calendar :))
I understand the concern about value. However, at the same time packaging and theming do also induce costs and that is part of the advent calendar experience. I do agree that having size or skin tone specific items and duplicates of the same is sus, especially without customization options when buying. Overall, I think that this one costs come from the theme/packaging over item value.
I think not everything on Alibaba etc means the brand buys it from there. It happens a whole lot that Chinese factories are copying popular products from other brands and selling them for cheap and at poorer quality. I don’t know if that’s the case here….
My son does that! He says chairs are his friends. I didn't know that was a thing til my son did it. We end up keeping a good bit of stuff because they are his friend. :)
I can't help with these cats, but I have two standard issue cats named George (F 4 years old) and Baloo (M 14 years old). Baloo's favorite color is green. And his favorite food is cream cheese. George's favorite thing is trains.
@6:10 in the video, that eyeshadow reminds me of patina on copper. So the copper metallic with the blue patina? Maybe that's the vibe they were going for? The flowers on the packaging look like the flowers on the box as well. It must be a thing.

She really puts a lot of thought and creativity into her calendars.
It is awesome! Definitely worth the 💰.
Tried to get one but it was sold out lol
Hey Alex! That blue eyeshadow is probably a highlighter for under the eyes/blush. It's used to brighten the skin and cancel warmth in Chinese makeup
Paul and Joe had a $100-ish calendar last year that I ordered from France and it was lovely! Idk what they were on this year
bahahaha a really firm jell-o cube from the Chinese buffet.
As another commenter said, this looks like an advent calendar totally focused for the Japanese public.
It's very cute tho!
Based on some item names on the site, the orange cat is Nounette and the white one is Gipsy. Also the flower is a chrysanthemum.
I'm so excited to see this one. I've seen this brand and previous years calendars and I've always wondered what they make/sell (but not enough to Google it I guess.)
Having watched, while it's better than others, Alexandria's advent season continues to my perfect FOMO killer, making sure I don't waste my money on advent calendars (even if it has weird cat plushies in them)
I just really want those boxes so I can junk journal with them
I always keep my eye balls peeled for cool packaging for the same reason💜
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that LOL
Yes!!
I was thinking the same thing. 😂❤
I had to Google junk Journaling and I quickly backed out. I can't even dive into that because my borderline hoarder self would definitely Spiral. I have enough junk. My entire room is a junk journal.
Omg the kitten pillow is absolutely adorable!!! It melted my heart!!!🥹 Such an adorable calendar overall!
I love how the boys turned into gremlins for a minute there at the end 🤣
I absolutely adore you!! This calendar was definitely interesting. 4 primers….thats enough Primers! Also, between you, Tato and Wren, y’all make for the best day brighteners ever❤
I agree!
Yay been waiting for ya!! Hope your small business day went well ❤❤xxx
So early! Was just wondering what to watch. An Alexandria advent WITH CATS!!!?? YES PLZ
Same! Ita a no brainer 😆
I feel like this calendar may be aimed towards the Asian market what with the very pale colors, the small slipper size and the sun blocking umbrella. And also everything being so cute. Just a hunch!
Your advents are my favourite and I wait for each one you open, it's such a treat for us. You are just amazing and love your thoughts and honesty, love and light your way from Canada ✌️ 💛 🇨🇦 🤌
Humanizing inanimate objects is anthropomorphism. I 100% do that too. Lol The kitty lip gloss is adorable!
I came here to say the same things!💖
I used to cry when I was little because I would worry the Kleenex box in my dads car would feel lonely if we left it in there so he would let me carry it through Sam’s club when he’d take me shopping on Saturdays. 😢
Good to learn there's a name for it. I've done that my whole life, though only with things that have faces.
@@fifiweebunkinz2760 That is the sweetest 💗 thing! I apologized to my jumpsuit when I was little when I told my mom I was sick of wearing it. Never grew out of treating objects like people. Much much better than treating people like objects!
Anthropomorphism is attributing human emotions on other animal species.
This one was cute but cost more than it was worth I think. They got away with it with the kitties 🐾
I LOVE watching Wren and Tater at the end! They know what’s coming and they’re like “hurry it up Ma!” 😂 Wren was trying to be good and sit but doing a lil dance hahaha! So handsome in their Christmas sweaters ❤️
Hope you have a great rest of your week. Hugs! 💖
PS I would definitely buy Wren and Tater plushies ☺️
I do the same thing, giving everything feelings. I recently bought a stuffed animal that was alone on the shelf because his eyes were crooked, he needed love. ❤
I love you for that. 😄
I have that problem. I choose the wonky thing, I have a whole collection of messed up toys in my bedroom. I love them. If I don’t adopt them, who will?
@@grannym2880 ❤
@@riveramnell143Exactly! ❤
9:04 lol yep! Thats how I know Paul & Joe, that cat head lippie was a microtrend back around 08 I think
I love Advent Season with you, I didnt look at any others ,
no point the warmth you put out is fantastic, it makes your videos a must watch (the best part no dressing up or even going out its freezing in Edinburgh tonight)
and its like just spent a while over at a friends place. having a laugh together.
oh and I cant watch Charlot tilbury ads without hearing you saying her name it makes me laugh everytime I see it.
take care love to you, your husband ,and the boys and your family.
8:52 term is anthromorphise & I do it tooo. There are cultures that believe every object does has a soul, so I like to think my heart just has a lot of love to give, including to inamimate objects 😂
Paul & Joe have already been known for their cute kitsch cat packaging. I have always wanted to buy some of their products but I still can't find confirmation as to whether they are cruelty free as they weren't in the past.
"At least these are high quality looking stickers...Chanel " cracked me up and had i been drinking differently would have snorted it out my nose!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The doggy advent calendar excitement is growing, they are going to be rifling through the cupboards before long. Those Christmas jumpers are adorable.
the flowers are chrysanthemum ^^ and the name of the brand are the names of the creator children. They just really really love cats and flowers :)
YEEEEES ADVENT CALENDAR!!!
I can watch this the whole year, don't worry to have it put and rush them
Take everytime that you need, we will be here ❤
This seems like a great calendar for a 13 year old, new to make up, cat obsessed tween.
I think my kid would have loved it a few years ago.
Im 43. I would love it. 😅
@@DebosaurusRex 33 and me too 😅
LOVE seeing the boys get their treats too! Also, they did the cat lipstick tube first. Ali express is ripping them off. And that flower looks like a chrysanthemum to me. Happy holidays!
1970s, not 50s. My house was built in the 70s, I have that wall paper in my bathroom (i don't suggest having wall paper in the bathroom btw) with the light ble toilet & sink (tub is white though) and blue tiles 😂. But, you were pretty close! Lol
😊
The cats are so adorable, The flowers look like chrysanthemums to me 😊
Look like chrysanthemum to me too.
The gel candle talk just unlocked a memory. I can feel it!
@@karine-v I'm in middle school again. And the bottom of the candles used to have stuff like seashells in the bottom lol
I remember the lecture my siblings and I got after poking. LOL
i love that tater was showing you you didnt have to open the little doors, you can just pull the whole thing out RIGHT NOW!
If it is a Japanese brand or more heavily sold in Japan having lightly pigmented eye shadows makes perfect sense!
Tater has seen you destroy enough advent calendars, he knows how it's done! Such a good boy.
I have no idea how I ever found this channel. But ever since I have never missed a show. ❤ this channel
I have never purchased an advent calendar.
Ever.
And I fear after watching you unbox so many of them over the years, I most likely never will.
They all seem like scam/money grabs. So thank you Alex for helping me and so many others save our coins! 😂❤
Your description of the gel had my mind absolutely FLOODED with all the times that I absolutely stuck my fingers in those gels when no one was looking 😂😂 I was a very obedient kid in general, but the sensory curiosity was too strong!!
I've always wanted to try Paul & Joe makeup for the sole reason it has cats on it. 😂 This advent calendar is SO DAMN CUTE! I'm glad I got to live vicariously though you! 😺
I rarely watch ads, but for Alexandria spending so much on Advents...I do!
If this is a Japanese brand or off of a Japanese style then the colors make perfect sense as many of the girls have that style.
It's French
Paul & Joe is a French fashion brand, but the beauty line is under a Japanese license. The beauty products are from Japan and are fairly popular there too.
@@CloverBell13 so possibly use a Japanese style?
@@huntressmma1822 and I'm American but I love Mexican food.
So perhaps they are using a Japanese style especially with cats ... Who knows
8:42 Alexandria talking about personification is SO REAL 🤣 I absolutely do that too.
I wish I could watch your entire Advent season calendar all the way through every single day
Im just loving seeing the boys at the end of every video. I love how well they listen to you.
What's that smell...baby powder, mints, floral perfume and cigarettes?!? Grandmother?!? Girlfriend, I'm dying laughing I had to back up and hear you again 😅
honestly, my cat and I enjoyed loved watching this one. this was adorable.
the flowers are Japanese chrysanthemums, which adds to the brand's kawai look.
4:13 the pouch looks like it would fit a kindle perfectly!
Adorable, but style over substance is right. Thanks for doing all of these Alexandria! ❤🎄
There are crafts advent calendars. Spellbinders, Anna Griffin are two big brands I know for papercrafters.
After doing a bit of research, Gypsy is the white kitty and Nounette is the orange kitty. They belong to Sophie Melachy, the president of Paul & Joe.
It does add another layer of complication to life (the emotions get VERY intense sometimes) but I like to think we're just good people ❤️
Hiii Alexandria 💖 Hope you're doing great, loving these videos! ❤️
That kitty shaped lippy is ADORABLE!!!
I thought day 24 was a lunchbag too, it's a common Japanese item. So adorable!
When you staretd talking about the gel blush texture, my head went STRAIGHT to the glade air fresheners. So glad I'm not the only one who poked those...
Those flowers look like chrysanthemums 🫶🏻🫶🏻
I haven't scrolled through to see if anyone answered you but the flower is a chrysanthemum. ❤️
It's a popular flower in Australia around Mothers day to give to our Mums.
If its so popular in japan it makes sense thats the makeup is all so light
Wren’s little tippy taps get me everytime! So cute!
😂😂😂😂"Am I just describing a grandmother?" 😂😂😂
This one was SO CUTE ❤❤❤ they would ABSOLUTELY get me like a chump with just the packaging alone 😅also my favorite part of your videos is your doggies opening their own advent calendar :))
I understand the concern about value. However, at the same time packaging and theming do also induce costs and that is part of the advent calendar experience. I do agree that having size or skin tone specific items and duplicates of the same is sus, especially without customization options when buying. Overall, I think that this one costs come from the theme/packaging over item value.
I have the same issue with attaching feelings to inanimate objects, the struggle is real girl. May God bless y'all 💙💙
I think not everything on Alibaba etc means the brand buys it from there.
I have 2 orange cats. Minnie is a total Diva and my boy, George is a smoochy velcro cat!! ❤
So glad to see the boys back. I miss them when they skip an unboxing! ❤
@6:10 in the video, that eyeshadow reminds me of patina on copper. So the copper metallic with the blue patina? Maybe that's the vibe they were going for?
The flowers on the packaging look like the flowers on the box as well. It must be a thing.
