I have been very confused on where asics is going with the cumulus. Ive always thought of the cumulus as the “lighter” and speedier version of nimbus. And i thought it weird that they would advertise these as the most cushioned comfortable cumulus to date. Your review enlightened me on the difference of the 2. Keep it up and thank you for the honest review/ opinion. 😊
Thank you so much for this. Yeah I was confused about this too but I fully agree with what they have done.to me, the cumulus is a more affordable and firmer firmer nimbus 😂😂
Got a pair of these in yesterday, and personally, I'm stoked. These feel phenomenal. I'm moving away from very high stacked, high cushioned, super soft shoes (like the Nimbus 25), and although these would've been considered that a few years ago they are an outstanding balance between cushioning, responsiveness, and comfort, along with good stability for a "neutral" shoe and a roomy toe box. They've almost immediately replaced my Ride 15s, 1080v12s, and Novablast 2s, among others. I'm also a medical professional, so with Asics' SheerID program I got these for 40% off ($84 USD). I'm highly impressed; wow. Just discovered your channel; truly enjoy your reviews and positivity. Great work man, much respect.
Now I wish I became a doctor too for that discount 😂😂😂. Thank you so much for the kind words there, it means so much and also for joining me on the channel. It’s great to have your support. Seeing your video for the first time my reaction " My God you are too good " the way you explain even a small kid can easily understand... If you were a professor you would be a students favourite.. god bless you brother.. loved your video ❤️
Great honest review 👍. I tried the cumulus 25 yesterday in the shop and they felt so comfortable and the fit was great. I did however go In to buy the novablast 3 LE and I left with the novablast 3 LE. They just felt lighter and alot more breathable, I could literally feel the difference just trying them on in the stores. Haven't actually tried them yet but can't wait to hit the cobbles with them and i feel that they will give me enough cushioning to deal with the 15 stone on top of them , hopefully anyway 😀. Worth mentioning that I did have to go up half a size as normal 10 was just too snug.
Great video and completely agree with your assessment. The nimbus feels like it bottoms out and gets squirmy under pressure. The Cumulus is just so balanced and efficient.
You nailed it, Big Guy. Clear and concise review. I enjoy how you approached the details in the five points. I know what I am going to buy thanks to you.
I'm just starting in shoes and found you randomly. I'd like to say your personality is so outstanding I had to like, subscribe, and comment. Impressive information, engaging content, and the attention to design and lighting, my man you are the full package. I'd watch you read the phone book.

new subs here from Malaysia and right now Im switching between my NB3, DN2 and ES2 as my daily trainer. love them as all three are all rounder running shoes
Never tried the cumulus, but I do own the nimbus 25. Very interested in it tho, as I do like asics as a whole. Just got the superblast and will get the metaspeeds sometime down the road. Great vid!
It seems that the build quality of the Gel-Cumulus 25 is similar to the Gel-Nimbus 25 ! Last year I did not get both 24th versions, but this year I plan to once again pair the Gel-Cumulus with the Gel-Nimbus . Asics is getting better and better every single year now.
Honestly I feel like brands have really stepped up and challenging the big brands. Asics have definitely turned it up a notch but my biggest underdog story has been Mizuno. I love what they have done.
Thanks for the video! I just did my first run in the nimbus 25. I wanted a more cushioned shoe than my rebel v3, as I am begining to reach to the 10 mile distance mark. However, I guess because of the stack height, softness, and rocker shape, I kicked myself with pretty much every stride. It was the worst ride ever. I am planning to return and try the cumulus. They are not as cushioned as the nimubs, but are still thicker than the Rebels which only have 21mm at the fore foot. With the Cumulus being 30 mm at the fore foot, I am hoping it's the best of both worlds.
Hello. I am just a casual walker; I don't run. Unless it's to McDonald's for dinner. I loved and wore nothing but Cumulus my entire life. I decided to try a a pair of Nimbus 23 last spring and loved them too. However, due to a quality issue, I'm getting a warranty replacement pair of my choice. I don't know which of these new versions I should get for everyday office work and for walking around the neighborhood, etc. Thoughts? In the past it would be a no-brainer and I would just get the Cumulus but after having worn the Nimbus and liked those 23's, I have no idea which one to go with today having not tried on any Cumulus in the past few years.
Enjoyed the video and I can't argue with your conclusion. I'm still in Gel-Nimbus 24s but based on that experience my guess is that I'd agree with your contradictory summary as well. I can't walk across my bedroom without tripping over shoes that are lighter and more responsive. What sets them apart is how good my legs feel when I've already been running in them for an hour. It's gotta be the squish. But I don't know what they were thinking with those lace loops either.😆Keep the great videos coming, Aubrey!
Thank you so much for this comment and also the feedback you’ve given me. It means a lot. It makes everything worth doing. I also have a preference for that kind of shoe and that sometimes makes reviews a little tough because a shoe could be great but if it doesn’t offer noticeable comfort then I won’t use it as much
@@AubreyRunning Thanks for the reply and the kind words, Aubrey! Yes, as you say of yourself, I'm also trying to become a less average runner--maybe even just to level myself up to average😄--and comfort matters more as I keep upping my running volume. Not just padding and plush materials but especially being able to run smoothly with a natural motion when I'm just ticking over the miles. It says a lot if you do, or don't, look forward to putting shoes on for a run and I hope you continue to feature that in your reviews. Rock on!
First off your TH-cam content is great ! New subscriber! For sure. Second I loved the nimbus originally but I believe they are too narrow for me. I’ll be returning to try the cumulus variation !
What you said at the end was very helpful to me. I bought the cumulus and it feels great but my left foot is currently injured and needs more cushion so I decided to order the nimbus to wear during my rehab. 🎉
I initially thought it wouldn’t make sense to give all those reasons and then go against it and just say “I prefer the Nimbus anyway” but yeah truthfully it does make sense to me and good to know that that’s also the case for you.
@@AubreyRunning my nimbus came in today. They are very comfortable and a keeper (I get a 40% discount) but I agree with your thoughts. The more v4 is the best max cushion shoe. I had to return them last month because their smallest size runs large and it was hurting my knees just walking around the house.
@@prestonbroadus3978 love this… amazing! I wonder which of those I can pass off as. On a serious note, such roles deserve it! Thank you for all you do!
Runners always need to rotate their shoes. So, having one Cumulus and one Nimbus might be logical to rotate each other. You can make your intervals, short runs, and speed trials with cumulus by capitalizing on its stability and return of the energy. Also, you may run with Nimbus for your daily training and long runs to feel more comfy. Personally, I have a pair of Nimbus but I am considering having one Cumulus or Kayano 30 too.
I find the cumulus more comfortable overall. The decoupled groove in the shoe I find gives more cushion and more pop on toe off. The upper is also lighter, more breathable, and more roomier. It's definitely a more versatile shoe over the nimbus. I like the looks of the nimbus better, tho especially in the all black. The nimbus also has a better mid foot hold, in my opinion, as it offers that stretch tongue , sock like feel. You can't go wrong with either shoe. Definitely 2 of the best on the market today.
Can’t argue too much with your view except I find the Cumulus less breathable and therefore predict it will run very warm, great shoe for sure and thanks for your comment
I think it’s the best way to be. Average enough to relate to every day people but elite enough to stay challenged and keep getting better. With that said… I’m not anywhere near elite… at all! Welcome to the average runner club 😂😂😂
My order arrived today, and now I'm sitting here half the day in front of the Cumulus 25 and the Nimbus 25, walked what felt like 10km through the apartment, one model on the left, the other on the right, and can't decide.... 😵💫😵💫 the nimbus25 feels so soft and that stretchy tongue- love it. On the other hand, I like the look of the Cumulus much better, and the price looks better too, but I think I feel that the damping is at the limit with my 90 kg, or am I wrong!? I'm excited and frustrated at the same time😂
@AubreyRunning F...k the Money 😅, I chose the Nimbus 25. Comfort is more important to me than looks. I'm a heavy runner (89kg), so I think the more comfort is more important than the look ore the cheaper price. The price was also good, i only paid 135€ through a sale plus a discount from the company i work for
Awesome review! Now I’m not that into running but the breakdown of each shoe made for an interesting video. Seeing as your someone who works out could you make a video on some of your favourite workout shoes also? Peace and love.
Oooohhh funny enough I haven’t actually considered this at all. You’ve definitely planted a seed my man but definitely not helping my bank account. 😂😂🙏
Out of the box, I've found the Cumulus to be better as well. It's actually been my favorite daily trainer so far (and I've bought far more than anyone should). Not only is it lighter and more versatile, but it even seems softer. Does the Nimbus require break-in time? I've heard people call the Cumulus firm which confuses me because the Nimbus too me has been the one that seems firm in comparison. I'm new to running consistently so maybe I just don't understand running vocabulary yet.
Hello, I'm choosing new sneakers, I'd like them from asics (they fit my foot best of all the brands) and I don't know which model to get. I don't want any high-end model like meta speed, rather one that has good suspension for daily comfortable walking and doing all kinds of outdoor sports activities). As I looked, there are two models that would most suit what I want, and that is either Gel Nimbus 25 or Novablast 3. I don't know which one to choose. I heard that Nimbus 25 is better overall. My current sneakers are Novablast 1. The only thing that bothers me about them is that they don't seem that soft and sometimes quite unstable. That's why I thought I'd try the Nimbus model. Do you think it is a good choice? Thank you in advance for your reply.
So… I’ve never ran in the novablast shoes but can vouch for the gel nimbus 25 but also would suggest that consider the cumulus 25. These are both amazing shoes. With that said though, the novablast 3 has had very good reviews. Have you also looked into superblast?
After 2020 the material on the Nimbus 25 was definitely down graded during lock down period . I been wearing Nimbus trainers for years. The material around the toe area is definitely thinner and cheaper than it used to be. It tears to easily now days.
I’ve only ever had the 24 and 25 and thought from the 24 to 25 there was literally the biggest upgrade I’ve ever seen in a version change but you will probably know better than from having the other iterations. Thanks for that!
I've had the Nimbus for a few weeks and love the softness but not loving the energy return.. Probably going to keep it for long walks.. I love my Novablast, On Monster, and MoreV3.. Looking to try the V4, On Surfer and because of you the Cumulus.. Oh not sure if you know the make the More V4 in trail version but its the V3 trail.. Bit confusing...
It’s all a minefield out there with shoes which is why I started my channel to explain things for average runners like myself. Hopefully you will find the one you want but I strongly recommend the V4
Compared to nimbus 25, I agree that cumulus are better for lightweight runner. Thought its harder;at lease for me; to compress and get the pop from the ffblast+. I wish they tweak tiny bit softer so I don't need to "stomp" to get the energy return lol. Not sure if I miss out from the review that the outsole is kind of downgrade from the classic asics, I feel less confident specifically in wet or even dry smooth surfaces. do you feel the same?
I agree, the very early iterations offered better grip for sure but that came with a weight compromise which people didn’t like. In terms of looks, the new versions perform better but as for the grip alone, the older shoes were certainly grippier

I really like your positive energy. You have a new subscriber. For me the question is whether the Cumulus 25 is as good as the Nimbus 24 which is a great shoe for easy to moderate runs. It's also less expensive than the Cumulus 25. I did try the Nimbus 25 and it wasn't for me. It's so soft that when you run the midsole bulges out the sides of the shoe. I imagine the foam will only get softer in the summer.
The Nimbus 24 is an amazing shoe and was my go to shoe as a daily trainer so I would definitely recommend it. Thank you very much for subscribing and also for the kind words, I really do appreciate it
Everyone has different feet. Mine seems to favor the nimbus more. I find it fits my feet like a glove. But I do understand why someone may opt for the cumulus if they had one shoe to do it all. So in my opinion if you're looking for a humble workhorse that can do it all, you should opt for the Cumulus. But if you have some money to spare and want a dedicated recovery/trainer you should go for the Nimbus with the knowledge that you will have another pair shoes for those moderate/speed workouts.
@@AubreyRunninghey my friend Aubrey Good morning friend iam from India. I like the way u r explaining, nice men. Plz reply me I have ordered cumulus 25 asics But iam confused about nimbus 25 Which one is better for 5km running event and daily training Plz suggest me one Already I have cumulus 25 last week I have ordered online from Flipkart around 5200/- Cumulus 25 ( big billions offer deal from Flipkart) Is it okk with cumulus 25 Outsole is better in cumulus 25 Reply soon
I’m only running twice a week (not breaking any records lol) so I thought about the Nimbus for comfort, but the Cumulus seems more versatile in case I want to do some shorter faster runs.
I'm weighing 103 kgs at 5 ft 6 inches. Had two medial meniscus surgeries on right knee. Bought kayano 30 but it's hurting my inner knees. Cumulus or nimbus for me sir?
How about I run with orhotics which would give more stability to the shoe. Would I be better off in the Nimbus 25? I currently run in the novablast 2 with orthotics and works well. Since the Novablast is very cushioning but with orthotics gives the right amount of stability. Any suggestion?
I’m sorry I can’t comment too much here because I’ve never tried them before. I run in these shoes with their original in soles and they work fine so I’d be making stuff up if I advised you.
Your videos are professional and you really put your personality and character into it when you talk about these shoes, it's nice! Another thing what connect with me is that i'm also quite a top heavy guy. Whatever people have been saying about the Novablast 3, i've been noticing and feeling in the nimbus 25, the novablast 3 bottomed out for me after just 150k. It seems that if you weigh more then 80kg, you really should consider maybe having a bit of a firmer ride, or a bit more stack height, since you will loose more energy in softer foams and have more leg pounding in lower stacks. Keep up the great work!
Dami thank you so much for your kind words. There is literally nothing more special than such support and kind words. I truly appreciate it. What’s your favourite shoe so far, as in ever?
@@AubreyRunning For training, it's not the Nimbus 25. It's actually the SC trainer v1, took me a long time to get used to it. You need to learn how to run in it, activate that sweet spot, it's a bizare shoe. But it's truly something special, specifically for any longer runs where i don't have to push the pace, it's the best shoe ever. For my daily training it is the Nimbus 25 as you can gather. That used to be the novablast but it kept bottoming out. So replaced it. For speed sessions it's gonna be the endorphin speeds. For Race day (coming up rotterdam 16th of april), the endorphin pro 3. Have been making PR's in that one constantly. On all distances.
I’m a 9.Uk size. I will look into the ultra boost for you. Hopefully soon the brands will support me and provide the shoes for review but for now I buy the shoes myself 🤷🏾♂️
Hey Aubrey, I thought the difference between the two trainers is the Nimbus is a neutral shoe where as the cumulus range is designed more under pronate when running?
Hello. I have done 500 km with the asics cummulus. I m a big guy myself and choose comfyness over anything else. I got 2 pairs a 46 size for daily street walk or office and 46+1/2 for running acrivities. My next cummulus is a 47 size for running as at 500 Km I ve pretty mutch destroyed my previous. I ve done small hole on the right side of toe box. Also I think the foam power is kind of decreased. Now , in comparison with the Nimbus the accumulus feels mutch better , the foot feels more stable , there is more stuff holding the shoe together. If your tall.. the ninbus is like.. a very weird high shoe.
I agree with you 100%. I’ll sacrifice speed and a more responsive feel for comfort any day. Both are great, but I got my nimbus 25s yesterday. Been walking in them to break them in, they feel great, and I’m excited to take them for the first run this weekend.
@@AubreyRunning they’re a solid 9.5/10 for me. I’ve been dealing with a left ankle/leg injury for a few months now. Did an easy 5 mile run today and was completely pain free. The comfort and stability was amazing. I only wish the outsole was more grippy. The ground was a little wet today and I felt some minor slippage. Thanks for another great review!
Can you please suggest which one would be better for everyday wear not for running though. I tried Nimbus 25 i felt so comfortable. Though I have not tried cumulus 25..
Hi from Serbia 🇷🇸, J buy cumulus 24 and that shues is better then nimbus 24. J agree for your apinion.. For New version this two... Now in Serbia prize for cumulus 25 is $125...Sale time for New shoes🎉👊💥 J want cumulus 25..👊🤷♂️.. 25 is better 👋🏼
I really can’t wait to try the Cumulus25. I’ve been waiting for it since I saw the shoes on RunningWarehouse channel a while ago. The thing is I have to go for the Wide (US8) version and for Women’s, and there is only one colorway😢. Or I have to get the Men’s size US6.5 from Japan (elsewhere in the world Men’s size starts at US7!!!) For Asics, the standard width for Men’s shoes is D which is equivalent to Wide in Women’s. [The standard width in Women’s sizes are too narrow for me😞]
My favourite shoe is like your, Gel Nimbus25😊 Although I am small in height and weight, I like the protection the midsole of the Nimbus25 gives my petite body (156 cm/49kg). My second favourite shoe is the On Clouldsurfer7, less foam than the Nimbus25 but very pleasant ride.
I would probably say Nike Vaporfly 3 if you have the budget for it. Other brands also do supershoes but I think the main thing with it being your first marathon, I’d focus on cushioning as opposed to speed so even the Gel Nimbus 25 would work. But once you start running with speed, you then need a carbon plated shoe
@@AubreyRunning I’m also looking for a daily trainer. Kind of want a one shoe to do it all so I think vaporfly wouldn’t suit me. I think the nimbus is too soft and would be hard to pickup pace in. I’m thinking between cumulus25 and superblast. Which one would you think out of the two? :)
Hi i hope you reply, im from india weighing a 100 kg at 23 years with 5ft 9 in . Undergone kidney transplant before 6 months and im a beginner to running (never ran in my life) So would cumulus 25 be better or the nimbus 25? Also i do walking a lot in between
Hello, I have a bit of a pain in the bottom of my right foot - mild plantar fasciitis I've been wearing the Gel-Excite 10., but my foot still hurts after I go for a walk or a jog. Can someone recommend a different model of Asics that might be better for me? Thanks
I honestly think you should consider this a bigger issue than just shoes. Get checked out and let yourself recover first. Only then I would advise that you get to a good running shop who can then advise
That’s why I love the running community because we all have our own unique experiences with these shoes and other things and allow each other to express these views. I hope your Cumulus treats you well on your running journey
Hehehehehe, I think I might have to wait for the next version. I’m late for this. I’m actually surprised that I haven’t reviewed this shoe considering how popular it is
Can anyone recommend a good shoe for jumping rope and running in place? I'm a true beginner and on the heavier side (I need to lose anout 65 pounds). Any suggestions would be appreciated. 🙂
Cheers Darren… very much appreciated. It does truly mean a lot when people take time to share such great feedback and please do kindly continue to engage with the videos and offer any additional perspectives.
I couldn’t deal with the Nimbus…way too soft for me, but I’m a bigger guy, so maybe I’m compressing the foam too much? I’m more of a Saucony Ride guy - I like it firm!
No I think they are different. I still have my Nimbus 24 and love it but I think they are very different. With that said, it’s closer to the 24 than it is to 25.

In the past it would be a no-brainer and I would just get the Cumulus but after having worn the Nimbus and liked those 23's, I have no idea which one to go with today having not tried on any Cumulus in the past few years.
They have massively changed these shoes and they are no longer like previous versions. With that said, I’d say get the nimbus
I can’t tell you how much this kind of feedback means to me. I sincerely appreciate it and this kind of comment keeps me believing in what I’m doing
@@prestonbroadus3978 40% ??????? How???
@@AubreyRunning they have a discount program for military veterans, first responders and medical personnel.
@@prestonbroadus3978 love this… amazing! I wonder which of those I can pass off as. On a serious note, such roles deserve it! Thank you for all you do!
Man I just picked up the Cumulus and they are so much better then my Pegasus.
Nice comparo bro
Thank you so much, yeah I love mine too! Cheers for watching it
Runners always need to rotate their shoes.
That’s a good point if you want to or can afford both.
@Aubrey Running isn't cumulus more breathable though? The top part is more porous compared to the nimbus
I can totally relate to the statement about being a very average running just trying to be a little less average, so I subscribed.
I think it’s the best way to be. Average enough to relate to every day people but elite enough to stay challenged and keep getting better. With that said… I’m not anywhere near elite… at all! Welcome to the average runner club 😂😂😂
@@AubreyRunning Thank you. 🙏
My order arrived today, and now I'm sitting here half the day in front of the Cumulus 25 and the Nimbus 25, walked what felt like 10km through the apartment, one model on the left, the other on the right, and can't decide.... 😵💫😵💫
the nimbus25 feels so soft and that stretchy tongue- love it. On the other hand, I like the look of the Cumulus much better, and the price looks better too, but I think I feel that the damping is at the limit with my 90 kg, or am I wrong!? I'm excited and frustrated at the same time😂
So… after a while… how has the experience been? Which one won?
Incredible shoe transition in the beginning of the video
Thanknyou, just trying to add a little colour
I was on the fence and went for the cumulus 25. Thanks for making this video.
It’s all down to personal preference but I think the Cumulus makes more sense. You’re welcome!
Loved this comment. They are releasing or have released a new version too.
I want to agree with you. But I already have the Novablast 3. Will it make Cumulus 25 redundant
That’s fair enough… you certainly won’t need both especially at the cost of these shoes
Thank you for your video. N25 is complicated shoe. Go with the Cumulus!
Great show for sure and I enjoyed running in the cumulus for sure. Both are great shoes depending on what you’re looking
I prefer the nimbus too! Even though facts and other factors favour the cumulus

I’m only running twice a week (not breaking any records lol) so I thought about the Nimbus for comfort, but the Cumulus seems more versatile in case I want to do some shorter faster runs.
I’m team nimbus all day!
@@AubreyRunning I ran in the nimbus 12-14 and really liked them back then.
Sounds like a comparison between Cumulus 25 and Novablast 3 would be interesting...
Sadly, and I don’t k ow how this happened, but I have never actually ran in the Novablast. I will though make sure I get the next version
Excellent video, ma friend! It helped me decide! Cheers from Brazil!
You’re more than welcome! Thank you for checking it out!
Fascinating! I haven’t tried the Cumulus in a few years, but I’ll have to give them a look! 🤓
Totally worth it I think. I saw it and simply had to give it a go because of the reputation the nimbus has earned
I'm weighing 103 kgs at 5 ft 6 inches. Had two medial meniscus surgeries on right knee. Bought kayano 30 but it's hurting my inner knees. Cumulus or nimbus for me sir?
I’d say nimbus for sure. Yeah be very careful with the Kayano because it’s a support shoe and you sound like you’re better suited to neutral shoe
@@AubreyRunning Thank you so much for the advice. I got myself a Cumulus. Now I am not having any discomfort.
Hello Aubrey, which shoe size do you wear most time? And can you review Adidas Ultraboost Light? Thank you!
No sir that’s the Kayano
thank you for this comparison video!! do both shoes fit the same and true to size too?
Absolutely, no complaints from me at all and thank you for the feedback too, I appreciate it
Love that you e found your shout in the cumulus but I found the bin is better for comfort: it’s the stack and I love the midsole on it
I agree with you 100%. I’ll sacrifice speed and a more responsive feel for comfort any day. Both are great, but I got my nimbus 25s yesterday. Been walking in them to break them in, they feel great, and I’m excited to take them for the first run this weekend.
Please let me know how the run goes. The nimbus is a great shoe for sure
Either of these would be great to be honest with you but I do prefer the comfort in the Nimbus 25. I hope that helps
Hi i am confused between Kayanos 30 and Nimbus 25, which are better?
The Kayano is a support shoe for people who over pronate so it helps woth that whereas the other is a neutral shoe

I definitely think the Cumulus is a better option but I still prefer my Nimbus 25.
[The standard width in Women’s sizes are too narrow for me😞]
Oh man… that’s not great! I sincerely hope that you get them and in your fit because they are a great shoe. What’s your current favourite shoe?
My favourite shoe is like your, Gel Nimbus25😊 Although I am small in height and weight, I like the protection the midsole of the Nimbus25 gives my petite body (156 cm/49kg). My second favourite shoe is the On Clouldsurfer7, less foam than the Nimbus25 but very pleasant ride.
After achilles surgery the Nimbus all the way. I’m 6’4 200 and need the cushion.
I’m definitely all about cushioning for sure.
Hey, which one should I go for long distance run? Nimbus 25 or cumulus 25?thanks❤
Nimbus without a doubt
What would you recommend for a first marathon?
I enjoy your reviews man!!! Good stuff
Thanks Steve, I honestly appreciate such words. It makes it all worth doing.
Worse ortholite sole though. Nimbus uses the top of the line Ortholite X55 while Cumulus uses the mid tier X30.
Thanks for this… never considered it, let me look into it and thanks
@Aubrey Running to my understanding the main difference is resiliency. The x55 offers 55% resiliency while the X30 offers 30%.
Agree with you that Cumulus 25 accumulate strong point of nimbus 25. Just one thing nimbus 25 greater than... nimbus 25 suit for heavy weight people.
