When I see videos like this it gives me the drive and motivation to be a better father. Thank you for slowing down and giving your son the few minutes of joy he will forever cherish.
That kid has no way of knowing it right now, but the time and skills you are putting into him will make him a leader among his peers. Great job, dad! You're definitely doing it right!
You have taught your son more during the building of this cabin than he would learn in a lifetime of school and college. This was a normal father/son activity during the 1970s when I was a child. Even occasionally father/daughter activity. I spent a lot of time by my father's side, handing him tools, holding a torch, and sometimes he even allowed me to use power tools. Such valuable time and such precious memories, especially since his passing. God willing, there will be a return to these ways. It's what humanity really needs 🙏🏻
This made my heart sing! In a day when dad's are spending less and less time with their children, you are teaching him lessons that are more valuable than anything he will ever learn in public schools. Well done! Both of you ❤
I kinda helped my dad build our two decks. They're some of my favorite memories. I don't think he taught me as much as you taught your son, but the exposure to it and quality time with him were great
The only thing better than having yourselves a nice little cabin, is being able to build it with your son. I did the same thing 2 years ago with my son in northern Vermont. My wife and I make the 3 hour drive from our home almost every other weekend to stay the weekend. 👍🏼👍🏼
Awesome Cabin! I grew up in homes built this way. One of my cousins is still living in his families board and batten house. It's almost 100 years old now. Still standing strong. Looking forward to seeing what y'all do with the interior space. 🪶 Blessings from West Central Georgia 🙏
Your boy will have good memories if this for the rest of his life. Thanks for sharing the video. I am trying to become a better carpenter. I built race cars with my dad. I am a good mechanic but a lousy carpenter. LOL
i just found yawl on here and i am so impressed with the father son team work and accomplishment and one can always sincerely tell when a child is happy which says a great deal about the relationship you two have so I decided to subscribe and am looking forward to ur content God bless you and yours in Jesus' name great job sincerely
what a good father unfortunately i never had that experience when I was a child because my father abandoned me when I was only a baby I was raised by my grandparents but I got to experience it with my grandfather he always took me down to farm to help him shift irrigation pipes and change the electric fence and he got me to drive the tractor when i was only 3 or 4 so that he could throw out hay for the cattle
It's a Great looking place to hang out...I am hoping to turn a shed into a bathroom/shower,washer/dryer, and small kitchenette on my property for wintertime (hunting season)when it's to cold to use my travel trailer.
I've really enjoyed watching this build Lucas. She looks so cozy in the snow. Be sure and shoot some video when you guys do an overnighter in it! Very nice job as always 😁👍
You forgot the slide from porch to water ?😊 Maybe a zip line half way out , so you can fly off at end and dive in water ?😊 And a water fall next to the cabin to feed the slid ?😊
Lucas: another fine video. I liked the car race. Who won? The one scene with the fog in the background was neat. Nothing like being at the pond early in the morning. Take care and stay safe. PS: we got a dumping of snow last night. I plowed the pond hockey rink. 🤓🤓
I noticed that some of the floor joist is touching the ground, re you concerned about the wood getting rotten or moldy over time? If not why? Also the underside of the house is exposed to the elements, is this some special kind of wood?
Great work! I just purchased 40 acres and I am thinking about building something similar. If you don't mind would you please share the dimensions? Length, width, and height Thanks
@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead that's perfect for what I was thinking about building. I hope you don't mind me being a copy cat! Haha! Thanks for the quick response.

Getting me involved in helping my Dad repair his cars made me who I am. I love him for that. Great job Dad, & Son.
The most important thing built on this video, wasn’t the cabin, but the beautiful dad and son relationship! Gosh bless u guys.
Right on! Thanks! 👊

I built race cars with my dad. I am a good mechanic but a lousy carpenter. LOL
Thanks! I’m probably lousy as a carpenter and a mechanic, but I still do what I can. 😂
Looks like an amazing time, the son is always gonna be able to tell people he built a cabin with his pops.
Nice built! Quality time with your son….Precious ! Greetings from down under Australia…stay safe n warm!
Thank you!
Memories you're son will never forget!!!
This is literally my plan 🥲 build a cabin off grid with my son. I’d be grateful just for the experience. Getting some land soon wish me luck🙏🏼
Awesome! Congratulations! We really had such a great time working on this together.

Going down on memory lane, was a great idea Lucas
This was a fun video to make, because I got to go back and watch the whole process again. :-)
Man, that's cool,. I wish i could do something like that with my son. awesome video. thanks man,. good luck and God bless.
Thank you for sharing the process of building a cabin from start to finish. The cabin has a cool lake view
Great job! Always nice to see a member of the KISS Army hard at work. 🤘

😂🤣 that would be amazing!!!
@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead and a lot of work & $ !😊
The real gift is time with son !😊
Great build, make sure you seal that poplar very well it rots quickly outdoors.
Thanks!
Nice cabin y'all 😄 U have a good story telling 😉 voice !!
Thank you!

Congrats on the snow! I’m actually looking forward to getting a good snow here so we can have a good cabin day. The pond hockey rink sounds awesome!
Perfect job 👍✌
Thanks!
If you're not familiar with post frame construction, that's where you put posts in the ground and hope they never rot.
so great
Thank you!
Love the Kiss tshirt. I was member of the Kiss Army at his age
Beautiful cabin and lifelong memories, great build. Did you finish / stain the poplar siding or is it naturally rot resistant?
Were those 2 foot centers on the ceiling joists? Or more? Up here in PA we need way more support for snow load. You guys are lucky, good job!
They are 4’ centers with 2x4 purlins on 2’ centers. I have supports inside because we built the loft so it’s pretty solid.
Go hard then little man
We're going to get are mater from the abandoned house in Detroit
Mint!
I noticed that some of the floor joist is touching the ground, re you concerned about the wood getting rotten or moldy over time? If not why? Also the underside of the house is exposed to the elements, is this some special kind of wood?
It is all treated wood, but really I should have had it up a little higher from the ground…
@ Thank you
Very nice. How do you plan on getting under to insulate the floor?
There is more room under there than it looks, but I may have a plan that doesn’t require me to get under there. I’ll be sharing…
That’s an awesome cabin! What are the dimensions on it?
Thanks! The cabin is 12’x20’ and then the porch is 8’x20’.
Great work! I just purchased 40 acres and I am thinking about building something similar.
If you don't mind would you please share the dimensions? Length, width, and height
Thanks
We went with 12’x20’ for the cabin with an 8’x20’ porch so the footprint is 20x20. The height is 11’ in the front and 9’ in the rear.
@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead that's perfect for what I was thinking about building. I hope you don't mind me being a copy cat! Haha! Thanks for the quick response.
@@ew1421 Go for it and enjoy!
Great build! Did you use a store bought plan or did you make your own? Care to share?
Thanks
I didn’t have plans. We really just kind of went for it. I had the idea in my head. We had to just adapt things along the way…
That two kinds
Love it brother. What is the size?
Thanks! It is 12’x20’ with an 8’x20’ porch.
Awesome thanks! We are about to build a 16x20@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead
Your cabin looks great. Just curious if you are related to the Peek family in Fredonia, Ky. I am on my daddy's side.
Thanks! I don’t believe I am. My family is all from Indiana. Cool to hear about more Peeks. 😊👍
@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomesteadokay. Well you never know.
Size???
The whole footprint is 20'x20'. The cabin portion is 12'x20' and the porch is 8'x20'
Cost????
Not more than a couple thousand, because we milled a lot of the lumber and sourced used windows and such...
I built two cabins like that in 12 minutes, you guys took too many breaks. Also, do you have the plans available for this cabin?
😂🤣 You’re fast!
I don’t have plans. We literally just designed it as we went…
@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead turned out great!
Great job. Your son will fondly remember this time his whole life. Also, he needs his own hammer. Yours is too heavy for him. 👍
should have built it higher off the ground
I disagree with you ... that even if medle roofing may not require more support , you should support the roof with Two foot supports ...
No better way to bond with your son
桩基础没有防腐处理,半年就腐烂了。
This isn't a cabin , cabins are with logos. This would be a cottage
Like the McDonald’s logo?
Trump!
Jackass
Выражайтесь правильно это не кабина правильно говорить, это дом или помещение либо комната
that little fella is a good hand. i dont think you could have built that cabin in 8mins and 40sec without him lol.
lol. Or the actual few months it took us. 😂
