Marcos I've been taking care 3 little filipinas for about 8 years now. There daddy died overseas. The oldest is 16 the youngest is 10. These little girls call me and ask for permission to be involved in those types of events. I have to set the rules.

How is it a scam? Nobody’s giving money to anybody; as I understand it, it’s about the amount of money that a backer has or is prepared to spend to prepare their candidate for the contest.
Not a good idea, but you do what you like to do, however you need to have it in writing that you will get your money back, otherwise, that’s is crazy.

I think that's the way to go when I was young I pushed an old lawn mower around the community cutting grass for different people delivering papers early in the mornings so I hustled and got my money because my mother didn't have any

Marko, another bigger issue that's not addressed is when they doll your daughter up be careful. Many local kuyas and uncles have a wrong mental mindset if you know what I mean. Too many stories of local dudes messing with the girls. Be very careful of that nonsense. I don't get involved with that crap and my daughter is always under my watchful eye. I don't trust most locals and not even her family as they are relaxed about such affairs.

IF SHE LIKED IT; SHE COULD BUY IT AT 40% OFF. OUR DAUGHTER DID JUST SO TOO! THERE WAS NOOOOOOOO WAY WE EVER WERE GOING TO GET THAT KIND OR OPPORTUNITY EVER AGAIN!! YOU BETCHA WE BOUGHT EVERY OUTFIT! I COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW CUT THROAT IT BECAME WITH HER QUEEN COURT...WHO DIDNT GET CHOSEN FOR QUEEN MARCO! SOME OF THESE GIRLS WERE SO BRUTALLY MEAN SPIRITED TO OUR DAUGHTER. REBECCA HAS SUCH A KIND HEART. ID NEVER SEEN SOOOOOOL MANY MEAN GIRLS!! AFTER ALL WAS SAID AND DONE... THE WEALTHY GET VERY UPSET WHEN THEY DONT WIN THINGS. "THIS" SHOCKED ME TOO MARCO. REBECCA WROTE ALL HER THANK YOU NOTES UPON HER GORGEOUS STATIONERY & US POSTAGE STAMPS SHE RECEIVED OF OVER $200.00 POSTAGE.! WE DIDNT PAY FOR ANYTHING MARCO! SHE ALSO ORDERED WITH HER OWN QUEEN $ ALL HER QUEEN COURT LITTLE TIARA 'S AS WE OVER-HEARD 1 OF THE GIRLS TELLING ANOTHER QUEEN COURT GIRL; HAD SHE GOT A TIARA; SHED NOT FEEL SO BADLY. I TOLD OUR DAUGHTER IF YOU WANT TO DO THIS; LETS 1ST TALK TO THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. THEY TOLD HER HER HEART WAS A KIND ONE. THEY TOO HAD SEEN HOW RUDE THESE GIRLS HAD BEEN TREATING OUR DAUGHTER. SHE WANTED TO GET ON BOARD RIGHT AWAY TO HER TEEN PHILANTHROPIC PROJECT TO GET A TEEN FRIDAY NIGHT PLACE TO GO HAVE FUN FOR ALL HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE AREA INCLUDINGI THE 8TH & 9TH GRADES TOO..ALONG WITH CHAPERONES. THE CITY TOLD US WE HAD TO HAVE AN EVEN RATIO.
TODAY ITS STILL FUNCTIONING STRONG! ITS OUR DAUGHTER AND MY HUSBAND WHO WORKED SO HARD ON IT TOO. EACH GIRL WAS HAPPY TO RECEIVE THEIR TIARA BUT THEY DIDNT WANT TO DO ANYTHING INCLUDING THE PARADES. OUR DAUGHTER WENT SOLO UNTIL MANY OF THE QUEEN COURT GIRLS WERE GETTING BACK LASHED FOR BEING LAZY...SO THEY STARTED COMING TO MANY OF THE ACTIVITIES HELPING TIME TO TIME. WE WERE ABLE TO GET AN AMMENDMENT STARTED TO REPLACE THE QUEEN OF OUR CITY TO BE NAMED INSTEAD; THE LEMON FESTIVAL OUTSTANDING TEEN AWARD; WHERE A BOY OR A GIRL WOULD BE THE GOLETA VALLEY LEMON FESTIVAL OUTSTANDING TEEN FOR THE YEAR!! THIS BECAME A HUGE FRANCHISE TOO SINCE AN ENTIRE STRIP MALL OPENED UP WERE +100 NEW MERCHANT STORES OPENED UP & ENTIRE FIELD OF DREAMS WAS CREATED OUTSIDE WHERE WE USED TO LIVE WHERE IT WAS A DIRT FIELD FOR YEARS AND YEARS. ITS A GORGEOUS PARK NAME "GIRST PARK". PEOPLE THINK IT WAS NAMED AFTER US BUT THATS NOT TRUE. 🤣🤭! ITS REALLY THE PLACE FOR KIDS TO GO HAVE FUN NOW! .

THEY ALL SAY SHE WAS THE HARDEST WORKING TEEN QUEEN EVER. WE BOUGHT HER A WHITE FORMAL SHE LOVED. SHE LOOKED LIKE A WEDDING CAKE TOPPER BUT WE DIDNT CARE. WE BOUGHT 2 SEARS CHEAP FORMALS OF THE SAME STYLE...ONE WAS COBALT BLUE SATIN & LACE WITH MATCHING COBALT BLUE SATIN PUMPS AND SHE WORE THAT TO MEMORIAL DAY & VETERANS DAY PARADES AND HER AT THE SANTA BARBARA SUNKEN GARDEN COURT HOUSE (GOOGLE IT....ITS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PLACE) WHERE SHE WAS ASKED TO READ A POEM AND LEAVE A BOUQUET OF FLOWERS UPON A STAND. INSTEAD OUR DAUGHTER MEMORIZED "THE FIELD OF FLANDERS" ... I THINK IT WAS CALLED. NOT A DRY EYE WAS THERE THAT DAY. SHE WORE HER MATCHING RED SATIN & LACE FORMAL WITH MATCHING RED SATIN PUMPS👠👠 FOR THE FIESTA AND THE 4TH OF JULY OR THE BLUE ONE FOR THE 4TH OF JULY . PARADE. SHE WORE HER RED SAME FORMAL BUT WORE RED HEART 📿NECKLACE & 👠👠🪭💄 💋MATCHING💄👄🫦 EARRINGS AND RED NAIL POLISH TOO.

MY HUSBAND ALWAYS MADE SURE THERE 😋😋 WERE REFRESHMENTS & DRINKS THEREAFTER FOR ALL FLOAT AND CONVERTIBLE RIDERS & DRIVERS AS IT GETS🌂☂️PRETTY♨️🔥HOT🔥♨️ 🥵UNDER THE🔥HOT🔥 🌡📈🌞SUN☀️ ! DURING THE VETERANS DAY PARADE...A SHIP OF SAILORS DOCKED AND JOINED OUR DAUGHTER AND I IN THE PARADE AS WELL AS THE 4TH OF JULY PARADES. ALL 6 SAILORS WERE INVITED TO OUR HOUSE FOR DINNER. MY HUSBAND PICKED THEM UP AT THEIR SHIP ONCE THEIR ADMIRAL HEARD WHAT A NICE THING THEYD DONE. MY HUSBAND JOINED THEM THE NEXT PARADE IN WEARING HIS WHITE NAVY SAILOR UNIFORM TOO. IT STILL FIT! WE TOOK BY HAND 1000 BAGS OF FRESH COOKIES MADE THAT DAY OF MS. FIELDS COOKIES ; & WE HAND CARRIED DELIVERED TO THEIR SHIP! WE HAD SOOOOOOOO MANY FUN THINGS HAPPEN! MARCO! BECKY WON 1ST PLACE FOR HER "TALENT" CATAGORY IN A 🎵 🎶 MICHAEL JACKSON 🎵 🎶 ZOOT SUIT DANCE ROUTINE IN HER TALENT CONTEST...UPON A 🪑 CHAIR AND ITS RIM! SHE DIDNT HAVE ON HER SPAT SHOES BUT HER OUTFIT WAS SOOOOO COLORFUL THEY LOVED IT! THEN THE NEXT YEAR SHE WON "1ST RUNNER UP" SANTA BARBARA JAYCEES TEEN OF THE YEAR 1993-4 & MS PHYSICAL FITNESS 1ST PLACE & HER DANCE THEY GAVE A STANDING OVATION. SHE RECEIVED $1,500.00 SCHOLARSHIP THERE TOO. SHE WAS SOOOO BUSY IN DRILL TEAM; CHEERLEADING AND WRESTING MATMAIDS TOO IN SCHOOL. I THOUGHT MY HUSBAND AND I WERE GOING TO BE THE WORN OUT🤣🤭 BUSIEST PARENTS EVER! ALLLLLLLL THE KIDS CAME TO OUR DUPLEX WHENEVER A PARTY HIT...WE WERE YOUNG PARENTS. I THINK THATS WHY. WE WERE "NOT" TIRED THOUGH MARCO! HER THEN BOYFRIEND WAS VERY SUPPORTIVE TOO. HE WON THE RAFFLE OF A CAM RECORDER WHEN THEY WERE HUGE & REALLY BIG IN SIZE! WE ALL WERE SHOCKED WHEN THEY CALLED HIS NAME OUT TOO!! 🤣🤭😁
AS WERE HIS PARENTS! HE VIDEO RECORDED ALL HER QUEEN YEAR & I SCRAP BOOKED STILL SHOTS THE BEST I COULD...OF IT ALL. IT LEAD TO MANY THINGS FOR HER. SHE DIDNT FINISH UCSB TEACHING AS SHE CHOSE TO BE A HR HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER INSTEAD AND GRADUATED FROM CHAPMEN COLLEGE INSTEAD. IT MADE BETTER SENSE AND PAY IN HER LIFE. HER BOYFRIEND MARRIED A FILLIPINA AND I THINK HE IS IN SUBIC BAY WITH THEIR 2 KIDS. THEY DONT SPEAK.🤣🤭 ITS OK; SHES VERY HAPPY FOR HIM JUST THE SAME. SHE TOO IS MARRIED WITH 2 KIDS ALSO. I WAS A YOUNG 38 YEAR OLD MOM TO A 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WHEN SHE GRADUATED. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE VERY BUSY WITH OUR DAUGHTER'S LIFE. TRY IT MARCO. WE DID NOT AND WE COULD NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THESE PARENTS OF THESE GIRLS WHO DIDNT FEEL OUR DAUGHTER BELONGED THERE WHEN ALIKE THEM...SHE MET ALL THE REQUIREMENTS SO WHY WOULD SHE NOT BELONG (IT HURT MARCO!! IT SHOULD NOT HAVE MATTERED EITHER; WHETHER WE AS A FAMILY WERE ELITE OR RICH OR NOT!) HOWEVER WE WERE HAVING SOOOOO MUCH FUN WITH THE WEEKS LONG FESTIVITIES!
WE 3 SAW MORE & MORE MERCHANTS IN THOSE 7 DAYS WE'D NEVER SEEN HAD OUR DAUGHTER NOT BEEN BRAVE AS SHE WAS; TO CHOSEN TO RUN FOR QUEEN OF OUR CITY BACK IN 1991. SHE TOO KNEW THE ODDS WERE AGAINST HER; BUT WE WERE PROUD OF HER STICKING IT OUT AMONG SUCH HOSTILITY TOO. THATS THE PART THAT SADDENED ME THE MOST! We were not a prominent "NOR" a rich family. This CONTEST was BASED on an ESSAY; ONE'S MERIT; AND YET...NOT GETTING INVOLVED WITH ONE'S COMMUNITY FOR 7 DAY???... WE FELT THAT NEEDED TO CHANGE AND BE RE-WRITTEN FOR SURE! 20% was selling tickets to preserve "Stow House" in the HISTORICAL SOCIETY and meeting new Patrons in ones Community and getting involved. Every Candidate was asked to come to the Fiddlers Convention at Stow House; to go inside Stow House...get Familiar with it. ITS A GORGEOUS house Marco that ALL little kids have their Classroom picnics upon its grounds on "field trips". There is a adorable working train depot and post office in the gorgeous grounds that used to be walnut trees and lemon trees and alligator 🍐 pears better known as 🥑 avocados. There was a book "GOLETA THE GOOD LAND" By WALTER TOMPKINS I had our Daughter read in her beginning of her Freshman year in High School that tells of the HERITAGE of the City of GOLETA we lived in. I had NO idea how much her reading that book would play into all of this though!! The Airport's Planes; Trains ; & Automobiles day our Daughter & Husband got to go inside vintage pilots planes as well as fancy cars my Husband loved. Id bought our daughter in the beginning of the school year a black "skorts" coolot dress with tiny white flowers all over it that was quite popular then...but boy did it come in handy...at that Airport; climbing in and out of the Airplanes! They still had a dress code! They "HAD" to wear a dress!

THIS BLEW MY MIND THEIR PARENTS ACTED THE SAME WAY! JUST SHOW UP FOR THE ESSAY PANEL INTERVIEW HOPING THAT WAS ENOUGH...AND SOMETIMES THATS SADLY HOW IT WAS RUN...HOWEVER "NOT" THIS TIME! IT had to do with a private essay and the 3 topics and a panel of GOLETA AMBASSADOR MERCHANTS ASKING QUESTIONS TO THESE TEEN CANDIDATES BEHIND CLOSED DOORS INDIVIDUALLY ALONG WITH THEM OVERLOOKING THEIR ESSAYS IN ADVANCE. NOBODY KNOWS WHATS BEING ASKED IN PRIVATE UNTIL THE DAY YOU ARE ASKED. THE GIRLS WEAR FORMALS "AFTER "THE VOTING HAD & HAS BEEN COMPLETED...TO THE DESIGNATED; FORMAL CORONATION DATE; THAT WAS HELD AT A LOCAL GOLETA BANK...A WEEK LATER...NOT A DAY LATER AS I STATED EARLIER. THE OUTFIT ALL CONTESTANTS WEAR TO THE PANEL QUESTIONAIRE...WAS THAT ALIKE THEYD WEAR TO AN INTERVIEW OF A JOB OR SOMETHING THEYD WEAR IN GOOD TASTE TO SCHOOL OR THEIR SUNDAY BEST. HER ESSAY WAS SUBMITTED THE LAST NIGHT(7TH); AFTER ALLLLLLLL THESE ACTIVITIES; AS WERE EVERYBODY ELSES TOO. ITS TRUE SHE SOLD THE MOST TICKETS BUT THAT'S ONLY 20% OF THE VOTE. THE QUESTION WAS WHAT IS THE ANIMAL OF GOLETA YOU'D LIKE TO EMMULATE YOUR CITY TO USE AS A LOGO AND WHY...(I think she said the seagull; as they were everywhere); ;WHAT ACTIVITY WOULD YOU LIKE SEEN DONE IN YOUR CITY & WHY & WHAT FOOD OR THING YOU EAT SHOULD BE THE LOGO OF THE FESTIVAL & WHY. G'day Mark from one Mark to another my opinion is a competition that is based on who has the most money for the 6-year-old daughter to win is a unfair competition to start with, as you said it is unfair for a foreigner to throw down copious amounts of cash when people in the village cannot compete with that money. We all want our children to win these competitions I think it's ok for 6-year-old children to go into a competition as long as they are dressed as children should be not to be dressed up like adults in a beauty pageant. The more money you put up, it helps the community out more. I understand you would feel bad for the other two girls that wouldn’t win, however if the shoe was on the other foot they more than likely would do the same thing. I would put the money up and give some money to the other two girls to make them happy. Everyone wins.
Hey King, how about putting up the same amount for each entrant. So they then win on the basis of who collects the most including your equal contributions. That way the intent of the competition remains.

Well my 2 cents…. Ask Maria, she will most likely want to participate just for experience if anything. And I’m sure us subscribers would contribute to her pageant fund… But.. I would also have some sort of prize for the other young girls just for participating when they are that young. I had one daughter that started at 2 n loved it, n one that didn’t want anything to do with it. Just see what lil Maria wants to do. And just from my experience in pageants she most certainly has the looks, personality and charisma. It could be a stepping stone to something much bigger in life for her.. who knows? But still make sure they ALL have take home prizes at the end tho. 💗

It’s a sad shame there wasn’t more talk about dressing Maria as a little Princess& more about money. I truly believe your 3k was a fair amount. I see it more of as a fundraising competition like back in the old days where we would compete to sell candy to friends and family to see who would be top place to win a prize. Of course the rich kids won because their parents bought all their inventory but the less fortunate kids still put on a good fight because they put in the hard work and hustle. I think it's a good learning experience to show that life is never easy and sometimes achieving goals require dedication to the purpose.
