    The real key ingredient to all successful clothing lines: celebrities
    Doesn't matter how good or bad your stuff is, if someone who's considered a celebrity wears it, you've won.

    I wouldn’t compare off-white to raf, kawakubo, or yohji, as those brands/designers are much more attuned to the tailoring of the clothing and less concerned with the overt branding design ethos that off white is. Although Virgil has worked incredibly hard and off-white looks to be more than just a blip in fashion.

    All you need to do to become a "fashion designer" now is slap a logo onto some clothes. Its crazy to me because Ive been sewing for over 10 years and have a degree in fashion design, so I know a lot about the industry. Designers dont do anything but put their name on a label. Most of the clothes we wear today are designed by someone else & sewn in another country, but nobody gets the credit except for the big names. Its so disheartening to see but that is what the industry has become🤷🏾‍♀️.

      i understand where you're coming from, you've put in a lot of work to get to where you are but do you think that in order to be a "fashion designer" you need to be accredited by an institution and sew for 10 years at least? I think its awesome how people like virgil are breaking these traditional barriers i think we will always be jealous of someone else success. off white and virgil have brought a lot of new and young people into this conversation and they are challenging the old ways. maybe its just an illusion but isn't that the point?

    As an Architect and designer I can see the influence that that the school of Architecture and disciple left in Virgil. We are taught to use a presedence and study it to adopt its principles Not it’s design physically but it’s design principles to build our own design. He is using a lot of the thought process that goes on when designing a building and incorporating it to fashion design. He can apply it in infinite ways. He has potential to do soooo many more designs and not only deconstruction. In Architecture school we learn about Aaaalllll the art movements and sooo much more even engineeeing. That’s why we only sleep 3 hours a day for 6 years only sleeping 8 hrs on Fridays. Only we know the struggle it takes. Does he have potential to create other movements if fashion??? Yes Is he staying for long? Yes

    Some of these facts aren't even true. Virgil said his reason for "pyrex" was the measuring cups that were typically pyrex used in the hood to make drugs and the hustle of it. The 23 was Jordan who he looked up to. Putting these together was to juxtapose the similarities but differences of each hustle; making money in the hood, and making it big in the industry.

    He is also bringing back the deconstructivism art movement started by El Lyzitsky who was also an Architect and Graphic designer. Who is also the father of modernism with a focus of studying the pure forms or abstraction and geometry and the Golden mean theory. I can see El Lyzitskys famous painting reflected in all of The sneakers specially on the Muslims Air Max 90s. Smart move by Virgil. Long live modernism. Study of pure form.

    Virgil is not a creative, he's a wannabe kanye. This is graphic design majors' worst nightmare; someone got it SO EASY as to simply plaster word processor
    graphics on garments almost exclusively inspired by raf, rick owens, and helmut lang. Margiela pioneered the reconstructed aesthetic in the early 90's, along with Rei and Yohji in the mid 80's (but in different ways.) This man rides the coattails of his idols, which is normal, but where it crosses the line is when his naive consumer base credits him with pioneering the vision - and he selfishly takes credit for it.

    Why does Pusha T get credit for Pyrex Vision when he only said "Pyrex stirs" but Juelz Santana actually said the phrase "Pyrex Vision" on Dipset Anthem that came out years before Pusha's song? Also, Raekwon had a song called Pyrex Vision that came out shortly before the brand came out. I think Virgil got the name from Santana or Raekwon but since he had access to Pusha T, he told him that his line inspired it.

  • @axhensmara820

    Awesome video! Btw, i didnt get one part, does that mean, Virgil had Jordans and Champions support when starting PYREX? I mean, was it a collaboration or simply rebranding cuz that is a bit confusing in terms of copyright and comission share.

    • @push_product
      @push_product  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe he didn't ask permission. He just bought a bunch of champion and polo stuff removed their tags and screen-printed "pyrex" onto them. there's no copyright infringement I believe (I might be wrong) when he removed their tags, he was not taking advantage of their brand. but don't quote me on that. I am not a copyright lawyer.
