Virgil is right, now seeing rappers at fashion shows is normal. Even seeing NBA stars dressing in high fashion is. Very well done! I was so proud of Kanye when he went to Virgil’s LV show. My heart broke for him. It’s almost not fair to call Virgil an apprentice to Kanye. He seemed like much more of a creative partner and the one who was giving Kanye’s ideas life. It’s so sad that he died so young.

I just found out about Virgil's story because of the Kanye interviews last week. Wow, amazing story! He did so much in his short time on this planet.
I'm from Malaysia, we don't get a lot of news like this where I am but even I know they took Virgil because he will be more compliant then Ye. Kanye is a visionary that will and needs to break boundaries where the Old industries are reluctant to do. He moves too fast for them with his creativity. When they can't keep up, the label him crazy. Not knowing that they're the ones standing still or moving too slow.
I see it as Kanye giving up his dream to pursue a different one, his family and god. Passing on the torch type shit

Forgive me for thinking like this but all this video did for me was prove that Kanye is and probably will always be the most influential and important man in fashion. As the video said all the best projects that virgil has done were Kanye West ideas. Pyrex has aged terribly and off white is tacky fast fashion esc. LV doesn't feel like LV anymore, it feels like a brand like supreme or palace. It's a real shame that Kanye is such a controversial figure cause nobody on earth deserved the job more than him.

You're very good at deconstructing all of this. Normally I just watch a Kanye interview and he seems to begin ranting wildly from nowhere, this gives a little context as to why the fashion stuff was so prevalent in his mind during interviews.

This video says that Virgil was the safer choice for LV because he is less outspoken, but Kanye openly said that while he himself has always been a creator, it was Virgil who was always able to bring those creations to life. I think they are BOTH incredibly talented, but from my perspective, it seems like Virgil was ultimately the one who had more to offer the brand in terms of creativity and ability to execute that vision. Either way, I think it’s amazing how full circle life has come for both of them and there is no doubt that it’s well deserved.
