I try doing this which was pretty easy.My advice do this on a empty tank so the pump doesn't push up on the lock ring.Use two flat screw drivers to press down the lock ring while some one else hits to it in to place.Also to release pressure remove the fuel pump fuse and try turning on the car should relieve pressure.
Excellent work & video Alex!!! my 2006 Murano gauge will work fine as long tank is full but when the level approaches half tank it will drop to zero and give the sensor code. Do you think it is the passenger side one? Thanks!
Great video man, It really help me out its pretty simple just had problems locking the ring back in. But thankfully Autozone had a rental tool. I had to purchase the passenger side sensor because the cleaning did not help. The sensor itself was only $38 and 2nd day shipping $10 not bad, just pass my emissions! :) and my check engine light is gone.

I purchase mine with only 49,000 miles having own and Altima before and had no problems decided to go with the Murano and honestly regret it.I've replace numerous parts passing 55,000 blower fan relay, driver side window motor, front shocks/control arms , driver visor and just yesterday this fuel sensor. Know I think I will be needing motor mounts. Oh forgot to say my seat belt warning light flashes I try turning the key form off to on but wont work to reset it.... I currently have 103,000 miles and about ready to trade it in.

The tool comes with this c shape part, it helps putting wait down on the lock ring. As one puts wait the other one should be hitting back the lock ring in position. you will need a hammer and flat screw driver. Make sure the ring locks in position.
Nice video with a detailed explanation. Just next time use a plastic or rubber hammer. cause if you hitting your iron hammer make some sparks over gas steam, you will have a lovely day dude. Anyway Thanks this video already made enlightened my trouble with this same issue.
I found reinstalling the locking ring on the drivers side(fuel pump side) to be a pain. Answer use a 4" plastic PVC coupling have a assistant push very hard down upon it then engage the ring into the locking tabs.
I'm gonna have to give this a try. My fiancé has had this problem for the last 2 months or so, it was fine when we bought it, but now when it's at 1/4 tank the sensor doesn't want to read right.
BORO Park cleaned the passenger side, it seemed to help some, but it's still not reading like it should. It only read up to about 1/8 of a tank and I know there's more than that in there. I think I'll have to try the driver's side.
Okay im back Boro. Okay i changed driver side with new sensor then when i cleaned the passenger side, now my fuel gauge wont work. So is the right side BAD? Im asking before i order right side sensor. Also is this something i can do because the right side has a wire running inside the tank. How do i replace it?

Also fuel gauge worked fine after driver side fix but engine light still on and i had the fuel sensor code P0463
Check engine light still on even after you erased errors?Try to erase errors... It could be the sensor or wiring problem too many different reasons...

Just try to disconnect negative cable from battery for few minutes. It should reset all errors.

I couldn’t get the pump out but did disconnect the fuel line and vent lines. Reconnected them and now car won’t start
Check connector. Make sure u didn’t mix lines.
