The good old days. I was 17 in 1989. I started working at Oxford when I was 16 on the PWay Track maintenance . I use to travel to work from Banbury every morning on a class 50. Good old work horses. I’m still on the Railway now. Doing Signalling installation at Birmingham. I miss the loco hauled trains. I got the opportunity when I was 18 to train as a driver based at Old Oak. But could not afford to move into London from Banbury. Biggest regret of my life.

Nothings changed there then - I bet it’s still too expensive to move from Banbury into London, even more so perhaps? Thanks for sharing your story, always great to hear what others were doing back in the ‘golden era’. cheers,. Geoff.

Fantastic memories for us guys. Just pump some diesel fumes in now and then and I'm a happy boy. Possibly dead one lol. But die happy 😊 🤣🤣

Thanks. Bet it was great back then, but I was a bit young to be able to get there under my own steam; Dad never took me even though he was a railway enthusiast, although I remember spending time at Didcot and somewhere on the GWML once. He was more of a Southern steam man! 😆

I had beige one with over 90,000 miles on the clock (9 previous owners) just before I bought the video camera. Great cars, cheap and reasonably dependable. 👍

A time when BR had dozens of miss match liveries and, to be honest, a generally poor railway system! All good fun for train spotters, though I guess?

In my view., it’s partly the different liveries that makes the current scene bearable, although I have actually posted a video on the channel of just EWS Class 66s - nearly 3 hours long, if you can stand it! 😆😆😆 - Thanks for watching and commenting 👍😊
