    Thanks. I watched the premiere of this show when i was 6. My siblings and parents loved it. After half the season they stopped watching but i didnt. My parents used it as punishment if i was bad and said you can't watch it today😢. I'm 64 now and still enjoy the dvds today. My favorite show.

    Thanks for putting this together. As a kid I was horrified when Professor Robinson decided they would have to leave the robot behind to save fuel. I would plead at the TV "Leave that selfish idiot Dr Smith behind instead". It was the B9 robot from Lost in Space that inspired me to get into electronics, mechanical engineering and instrumentation. And, I was madly in love with Marta Kristen. Even though I was only about 8 I knew what I liked!

    I have been streaming it on HULU the last few months, 2 or 3 episodes a day. Funny you mentioned the Keeper episode. You could probably say this is the episode where the theme of the show switched from the semi serious show about a family exploring space to the campy Dr Smith and Robot show. with the silly scene of Dr Smith being locked in the cage at the end of the episode. Sad the hear Mark Goddard AKA Major Don West passed away in 2023.

    The phone Maureen held in 1947 in Manitou Junction was clearly a different type of phone than the one they used in 1997. Additonally, phones in 1947 had very little service in the evenings. If you had the number, you could call out, but it was very accurate for Maureen to hear that werid sound when she picked up that antique phone back then.

    Man, I could not get enough of this show when I was a kid, so when I found the whole series on ebay for $25 I bought it and started going through all the episodes from the beginning. As an adult, I can safely say that it does not hold the same appeal it once did, and Doctor Smith was so infuriatingly stupid on each episode it just made me want to scream. (Gilligan's Island has a very similar problem!)

    • @bruce8808
      @bruce8808 ปีที่แล้ว

      It sure does. Both series were 3 Seasons each. The 1st Seasons on both T.V. series were in Black & White. Remaining seasons in Color. Gilligan and Dr.Smith both rank high on being clutz'es and knuckleheads.

    • @JustWasted3HoursHere
      @JustWasted3HoursHere ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bruce8808At least the producers of Lost in Space were smart enough to forego a laugh track! I suspect that in real life, the Robinsons would have left Dr. Smith on some planet with supplies to last him a few months, and the castaways would have locked Gilligan up for his own protection as they figured out a way off that island.

    Another great video. I love Lost in Space, so yeah, hope you do a few more on the series. Here is a tidbit: John Chambers did the Ape make-up for that one episode. BUT he got into HUGE trouble with FOX studios. Cause that episode aired Jan 1968 before the Planet of the Apes movie opened in Feb 1968.

    Regarding the Stunt-Smith goof in the Time Merchant episode . . Jonathan Harris was extremely claustrophobic so he was usually doubled in most instances where Dr. Smith had to be confined. This includes certain times when he was shown exiting the full-size space pod and even in the first episode where he's hidden behind a secret panel before he sabotages the ship. My guess is that in the Time Merchant scene, the combination of the cage and the smoke effect were too much for the poor guy.
    You'll notice in the cage scene in The Keeper that the top was left off of the cubicle to grant Harris some perceived space . . perhaps he was more tolerant of plexiglass rather than bars since the clear plastic would make him feel less constricted.

    Thanks for another nice video. The spider seen here was also in a season 2 episode of Voyage to the bottom of the sea titled "The Monsters Web", and in the lost in space episode "the sky pirate " the inside of captain Tuckers ship was a thinly disguised flying sub cabin.Also,the Seaview diving bell was disguised as the reactor core,and used as the alien ship in the episode "a change of space" and "rocket to Earth".The alien used in "a change of space" showed up earlier that season as the Manfish on Voyage to the bottom of the sea season 2 episode of the same name.come to think of it,the Seaview observation nose/control room set showed up (disguised) in " the space princess ", boy Irwin Allen sure knew how to make the most from what he had available!

    Goofs were not noticeable when I watched L.I.S. as a kid. I always used to wonder can't the Robot function without a powerpack. In scenes he always said he was powered by solar cells. In Episode #6 in Season 1 when John, Don,Will, Dr. Smith and the Robot are about to meet Mr. Hapgood there was a brief 5 to 10 second clip where Will and Dr. Smith were talking and closeup it showed the right side of the Robot moving its upper section, circuits going and powerpack missing. Another episode was Target:Earth in Season 3 where the Duplicate Robinsons took over the Jupiter 2, it retrieves the Spacepod and resumes to earth until the real Will managed to foil their mission. Upon the Jupiter returning to the Alien Planet the Spacepod was already there. Its easy to notice the little goofs when they're viewed on DVDs. Still its a great Sci-Fi series that was ahead of its time in the 60s.

    0:57 The ones that are burning there caught fire after Smith blasted them with the laser, normally they do have an electric charge sparking on the top of, what appear to be their heads.
    2:02 The music here is also the music used in the original, Day the Earth Stood Still.
    4:31 He came inches from smacking Will here with his claw, don't think that was intentional.
    6:47 The mask he's wearing is the same mask they put on Will when he was transformed into a boy sized Smith. Dr Smith is creating lookalike androids of himself in a season 3 episode, & Will gets caught in the machine.

    Please do a complete episode on Robbie the robot but also do one about B9 or Gunther or "The Robot" as well. If you do, please sort out what is his actual name, maybe the info is burried somewhere in the original script, in the side notes or author's comments, but you certainly won't find it from the "continuity staff"...

      @@joemurphy2177I mean, who could blame them? I'll bet June Lockhart was one of them! I've seen her in bloopers very early on laughing. In the pilot episode, when their rover is floating on the turbulent ocean she says something like, "Who do I have to f..k to get off this thing?". But from what I understand, Jonathan Harris - now the undisputed star of the show - insisted that they do the carrot episode. I wonder sometimes how this show would have turned out if Doctor Smith and his silliness hadn't been so popular with audiences. Would the stories have been a bit more serious?

      @JustWasted3HoursHere ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joemurphy2177I can imagine! It's funny, when you watch the pilot episode it really seemed like they were going to go more on the serious side (with the occasional comedy bits), but as Jonathan Harris started to mold his character to something different (a self-centered scheming sissy) the writers were kind of forced to take advantage of this now childish buffoon character he had created (because he was so popular with the kids). Dr. Smith was downright sinister in the pilot though!

    This is one of my favourite Classic Foreign shows , never notice so many mistakes , at 3:33 when robot is climbing up the ramp i was always 101% confirm that he definitely fell on its back , because the Balance looked out since they are standing in his way
    Maybe Don and John Grabed him , because if you watch this scene again from the episode you can see Both Don and John noticed that he is about to fall down or the other crew also must have came for support from his back , because the fall might have damaged the Bubble of the Boobie or put a dent on his Back
    + one mistake i also noticed in several episodes , Robot walking without the wheels and the screen didnot cut that area properly making the feet visible , like from the episode " INVADERS FROM FIFTH DIMENSION " when Don , John , Maureen and Dr smith came to the Aliens space ship , you can clearly see in the bushes robots Feet , Walking like a Man
    a Cord also going for that Red Speaking light
    i like that werewolf mistake when he transform from werewolf Foot🐾prints to Shoes👞 ......... instead of werewolf Foot to Human Foot👣Prints

    Robinson Family is still lost in space.

    The Biggest embarrassment I have ever seen on Star Trek, in Star trek The Voyage Home, when they went back in time to get the whale, when Scotty didn't know what a computer mouse was but Doctor McCoy did, the fact that Scotty didn't know about a computer mouse was a total embarrassment. A good example is Sextants, they have been around for centuries but most everyone knows about those, and centuries from now people will still know about them.

    I used to watch lost in space as a kid, it started really well but then the stories got bloody ridiculous and spoilt it even to a 9 year old.

      I was a couple of years younger than you, so at the time didn't really notice the change. Absolutely loved this show as a kid - but when Batman arrived that was the next big show! Looking back though, the first 8 or so episodes of Lost in Space are really great viewing - it's when Dr. Smith (and Will and the Robot) became the focus of the show, it does become pretty hard to watch (though as an adult this was all compensated by Judy Robinson! - I know that I'm not supposed to say that, so I must remember to delete that before I post this comment).

    in one of our dogs is missing...penny also has a stunt double when they are leaving the hole....will has a stunt double in the anti matter man...dr. smith always had stunt doubles even for easy scenes...and when will went back to earth they have a telephone in that show...but I still love this show anyway....john and maureen just did not care for will....judy was johns favorite child and penny was maureens favorite child...they let smith adopt will ....and don had some sympathy for will...
