Prior to his first injury he was just the greatest talent that the world had ever seen. Scoring at age 16 to 21 like prime CR and Messi, in multiple leagues, diferent countries and continents, clubs and competitions. This guy was absolutely insane. And not only that, it was the way he did it. He was the dream footballer. And even after his injuries, who would have had ended most careers, he came back at half his powers and still won a world cup and a Ballon D'or.

This is accurate. If you compare their stats from professional debut until age 23 (when Ronaldo had his major injury), R9 scored 50% more goals than Messi, and 100% more than CR7.

Most Brazilians start playing football on school on weekdays on futsal style courts or sand pitches, and then on the streets on different hours and weekends. Then those who like the sport and wanna get better usually join futsal schools/teams and start playing for them.
I sucked at football as a kid but even I did all of those, it’s suuuper common in Brazil.

His touch with the ball and the fact he did his skills so quick or sometime so slow (and we'd all see like he did nothing at all) and yet it still works and drop his oppenents like Dominoes. @DUNSON HOUSE
To put into perspective, he won a ballon d'or, got injured for 6 months, re-injured after 6 mins on the pitch, was then out for a year and came back to win the ballon d'or again. He is one of the only few players to play for rival clubs in different countries and have everyone universally love him. Most of the legends of the game you've been hearing about, Zidane, Seedorf, Zlatan, Ronaldinho, Henry, Mourinho, Pep Guardiola and so many more, say he is the best player they have ever played with or witnessed.
It's crazy because back in the day players were not protected by the clubs nor referees, sports science wasn't that great so injuries were quite common especially from bad tackles and for long periods. Undoubtably Messi and CR7 have had better careers in terms of stats and longevity but in terms of impact, sparking a revolution and pure footballing magic R9, Ronaldinho and Zidane pre-social media era were on another level.

Ronaldo "R9" is football's equivalent to Michael Jordan. He absolutely had zero weaknesses in his game. His speed, timing, and movement as a striker were perfection. His instincts, finishing, were also second to none. His passing and movement without the ball, especially in tight spaces, were crazy. Don't even get me started on his dribbling. He is undoubtedly the greatest dribbler of the ball at the striker position in football history.

Football clubs have youth teams. They may register kids as young as 9 years old, but they get professional contract when they turn 17, if they are good enough. When you start a football hobby as a kid, you enter one of these clubs. So they raise their own players. If a big club see a promising kid in a smaller club, they may buy them very young, and raise them themselfs.

So even when it's not about the money, its about winning, they don't care about the person even back then. But Nick is right the players don't care either.

What hurts me more is that people today, have no idea how good, how great, R9 was, like he was magical, even after his knee explode literally he won a world cup, won la liga, Copa America, confederations Cup, and see him play the classification stage for all world cup that he plays for, i have no words to describe what he made for Brazilian football, after 2006 was like football`s death for us in Brasil, because we testify magic and, we keep boring till Neymar appears. But football for us, it`s not the same after our Big legends - Romario, Bebeto, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaká, Robinho, Adriano, Juninho, Roberto Carlos, Cafu, Dida, Marcos, Zé Roberto, Gilberto Silva. C'mon bro, after you see a team like that, everything is kind boring. (Im sorry for my english, hope you understand) .

He can do it all from the most headers in history, most goals with his weak foot (left) can score easily, free kicks and dribbling. If Cristiano hadn’t had that life long injury in 2014 he wouldn’t have had to change his play style. He still became more effective and focused on scoring goals wherever. Footsie/Futsal is very common in many countries (and it usually is the easiest way for most people to start playing some kind of "football"). Some countries have more of a competitive "tradition" at it than others (like Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Argentina, Uruguay and France). It can be a bridge into 11 players Football, but despite their similarities there are also many differences. There's an entire different circuit for professional Futsal and just because you're good at Futsal it doesn't mean you'll be good at Football, or vice-versa. That being said, when you score 116 goals (!) in a Futsal season... there's definitely something special about such a player!

People compare a talent to other players in their prime and most can't keep up. But compare talent Ronaldo with other players when they where a talent and none can keep up. Talent Neymar comes the most close with goals but even he dusn't come close to the insane speed and tricks Ronaldo had but he could do much more.

They usually start on the streets, so they play with flair. You know how it is when you come from the ghetto, have to shine somehow.
Futsal is a game that is really popular in Brazil though and I’m sure most come up playing it at some point. My coach used to make us play futsal, it definitely made my close control a lot better, I became a much better dribbler because of it as well. My whole team got better, and we went undefeated for two years, including a preseason tour against PL academy sides. We were so good they made us play U23 football, in my country, and we were U16s. If you really want to improve your ability on the ball, definitely play some futsal.

    - Football is learned on the streets, but like the video said is indoor football good to be able to play in really small spaces.
    - Ronaldo was from the start not poor but that was over when he did sign a pro contract and he is the first player ever that earned more money by singing contracts with company's like nike when he played for PSV. His move to Barca made him rich but he left after one year when they did not whant to raise his salary so he moved to Inter.
    - The 90's is almost 25 years back in time.
    - The right order is Barca - Inter - Real - Milan
And Ronaldo was loved by all, the fans but also the players he had to play against.
For example Eto'o hates Real but still will tell you that Ronaldo was better than him self.
