Mid 2000's. I was in Highschool when this was released. It was the OPM Acoustic Era. Jimmy Bondoc, Nyoy Volante, MYMP, Nina, Aiza Seguerra et'al.

Paolo Santos is one of the artist that influenced my son to play the guitar. I remember him star struck when i brought him to one of his gigs🙂
Trivia : Moonlight over Paris is originally composed and sung by Peter Mayer for his own album "Spare Tire Orchestra" and released on 1988. Song also covered by Vanessa Williams and Paolo Santos.

I was in high school during this era.. it was 2004-2008 when opm is in such position. We used to bring our own guitars and do some sessions during breaks, lunch and when our teachers aren’t around. It made high school life fun and memorable. It helped me communicate with my peers effectively. South Boarder, freestyle , side A, callalily, sponge cola, orange and lemons, paolo santos, mymp, rocksteady, itchyworms, moonstar to name a few of our influences.
There are also other Filipino artists/singers that are highly recommended. Pls try to dig to these artists:
1. Sitti - The Bossanova Princess
2. Richard Poon - The Crooner
3. Jedd Madela
4. Apo Hiking Society
5. Bituin Escalante
6. Frenchie Dy
They perform mostly in ASAP, a Sunday weekly show

You two are remarkable in finding out our true gem in music industry, Paolo Santos is a solo performer in popular pubs & bars during the 90's. His a composer,singer,lyricist,musician rolled into one. He still plays from time to time today and in TV shows too!

When he was a teenager & started to like music, started to play a guitar, somebody bullied him, telling him he's not gonna be a guitarist, a singer! He took that as a challenge, honed his guitar playing talent to become a good acoustic guitar player at that & a good singer & composer! Every body then loved him!!
They are one of the first soloist group up like “budakhel” with jimmy, paolo and luke mijares back in the 90s called sabado boys “saturday boys”
Paulo Santos and this song popped to fame in the early to mid 2000's along with Jimmy Bondoc, Nina and MYMP. Most of their songs are easy listening songs.

Back in the days, Jimmy and Poalo together with DJ Myke Solomon and Luke Mijares (south border) formed a group “SABADO BOYS” (Saturday Boys), then later added new members like Mike Chan and Top Suzara (Freestyle).
I think this is just his cover, his original composition is "close", a bit up tempo and was used for the Close Up (toothpaste brand) commercial, I think Peter Mayer was the one who wrote moonlight over paris

Absolutely my favorite Paolo Santos song, but I believe the orginal writer is Roger Guth and finshed it off with Peter Mayer. Vanessa Williams sand and popularized the song.

I must say that Filipino music are really fascinating. Our musicians can play music in different genres like no other. They turn simple music into a complex one, yet it doesn't jeopardize the song. They can cover songs but when they played it, they put some twist in it making it their own. It just a pity that these music (Filipino Music) already aged before the world hear it.
I think it was released in 2009, when I was 10 yrs old, but still one of my favorite to this day! 🥺

Ahhhh i remember the good old times like it was yesterday.... paolo, jimmy, mymp, nina, nyoy volante (ex of nina) and the other bands... ahh lovely time. They were the ones who performed live on bars for their gigs. I even watched Nyoy in Tagaytay Highlands back in the day. We have eras of bands (eraserheads which i watched live too, rivermaya et al), acoustics etc...
