Trivia:
During this concert way back in 2003, Regine had migraine the entire show and seen very evidently in this performance. There is even an ambulance waiting for her outside the big dome to take her to the hospital.
Regine started in the Music Industry as Chona Velasquez (Chona; her nickname). Then Martin suggested to replace "Chona" by "Regine", since her first name is "Regina". Hence, she was called Regine Velasquez.

Originally, when Regine won a known singing contest during her time in the Philippines, she was launched as "Chona Velasquez". Martin by that time was already a huge star. And he has a show entitled "Penthouse Live" where he happens to be th ehost along with his wife. Martin's wife saw Regine's potential and invited her to guest on their show. Long story short, they think that Chona sounds too old for a newbie, and since Regine's real name is Regina Encarnacion Velasquez, why not use "Regine" instead. And the rest is history.
And a good to know info, after this conecrt, Regine was rushed to the hospital because of severe migraine which she already is suffering I think almost the entire concert. That's why as you can noticed, she sometimes stops singing and cringe her face. Professionalism. Show must go on. Which she is really known for.
Regine said it herself that it was her former manager, Ronnie Henares, who gave her name Regine.

Martin always says that he has to adjust the volume of his voice everytime he will sing with Regine because the songbird's voice is innately powerful even without her trying..

I just realized Regine was not wearing in ear monitor while Martin wore 1 side. Again, i was so impressed.. Regine was one of the filipino singers with perfect listening skills, notes and pitch

Yeah, you should invite Martin Nievera to your podcast. He is a contemporary of Gary Valenciano. In fact, like Gary V., Martin has been a mentor/Ninong (godfather) to much younger artists who are presently popular like KZ, Regine, etc. Martin belongs to that generation who are musically talented artists but also good TV hosts.
There have been a lot of comments about Martin. But I have yet to see someone mention that for a long time, he was the David Letterman of the Philippines. He hosted a long-running successful talk show in the country, without any rivals. The man is amazing.
P.S: I don't know if you remember, but you first saw him on the ABS-CBN Christmas ID. Efra took a look at him, without knowing anything about him, and said "That man has 'legend' written all over him". Good intuition by Efra.

As you can see they never use any ear piece or music monitor cause they have amazing inner ear and out of this world relative pitch especially Regine, she never use ear piece and never lip sync in her entire career as I remember.
Well it helps that their audience in concerts were quiet most of the time unlike in lively concerts like rock bands or even kpop concerts where the audience will shout and cheer non-stop which can make hearing the band/music more difficult for the artist.

@@Jha0601 Actually Regine don't wear ear piece it bothers her and even if she don't hear her self from the crowd she knows that her voice won't fail her so she just let it out and sing. She said that in an interview. I think it's with TWBA not shore
I was in the crowd watching this, it was a great concert, watching these 2 legends in their prime..
I remember in one of Regine's interviews about this concert, that the hardest performance is the broadway medley you previously watched She even joked about maybe their musical director thought they're not human 😂 with the arrangement but it was really hard there's a spike of intensity as it progress. Their musical director for that concert is Gerald Salonga who happens to be Lea Salonga"s younger brother. this concert is really so classy and a masterpiece for me. I wish i could've seen it live.

When I watched this concert on live TV we all said “they are the only two singers who can keep up with each other vocally “
'Forever' was actually their original song. But mostly they have several songs in which they have their own versions - their originals 'Say That You Love Me' (where Martin sang in the Wish Bus which you reacted to), 'You are My Song', and their own version of 'On the Wings of Love' which they sang right here. Their voices suited each other perfectly.

Regine & Martin are the most influential singers in the Philippines. Majority of Filipino singers are inspired by them.
Like Martin said, Regine is also my all time favorite singer and Martin's voice also immaculate. The two living legends in one stage.

Regine is the QUEEN.. but she has this charisma that everybody loves her... shes such a darling.. so down to earth personality.

This is why most of filipino soloists today have no problem making collaboration to each other. They learned and listened from the best. If only ASAP(music show) would allow reactors to react to their videos i believe people from other country would appreciate the art of live vocals and musical performance more.
its not that ABS wont allow it, but songs that are used in ASAP, they paid thousands of pesos for the royalties. and most of the songs they perform there are also subjects to copyright by the the record/label

I have read an interesting story from one of the comments in the last video about Regine's microphone being significantly lowered in volume in this concert. That was shared by Regine's father, Mang Gerry to one of Regine's singing contest contestants. At any rate, I agree with you guys that Regine-Martin tandem is musically perfect! They best compliment each other's vocal abilities. 😊❤️💯

So I guess all through out that concert she's suffering from migraine but still manage to give a very good performances and sky rocketing notes.
Fun fact Martin Nievera and Gary Valenciano has a crush on the same girl and they revealed that recently. And they said they have the same type and it's Lea Salonga.

Anyone can have many crushes. Gary actually courted Pops Fernande back in the 80s before she married Martin. They also admire Lea Salonga. But Martin was madly in love with Regine during this World Tour. He said during an interview, "Oh thank God I really got over it"

As far as I remember Regine was rushed to the hospital after that concert as she had suffered migrane during the entire show.. You can also try her Love Story (Where Do I Begin) version during their Valentine Concert of Martin again. She wore a red gown then.. Regine fan here from the Philippines :)

It’s mind-blowing to think this is what, their final song for the evening? and the energy was still astronomical and on point. And even mind-blowing that these two don’t even use prerecorded tracks or anything what most other “divas” and pop superstars use in concerts. Just two words, they were the REAL DEAL!

When i first saw her singing for the first time in ANG BAGONG KAMPEON, i felt and i forseen she was going to be a superstar. Her first entry song was SAAN AKO NAGKAMALI if im not mistaken. And her winning song during the grand finals was IN YOUR EYES.

I have chronic migraine my self for more than 20 yrs now & I can't imagine the pain that Regine is having that moment. If you have migraine attack you want to be alone in a quiet place bcz the noise of the venue & sounds triggers more & worsen your migraine.
One has to listen to versions of how these songs were originally written to fully appreciate the subtle note substitutions and skillful rearrangement in this performance. Kudos to the musical director, Mr. Louie Ocampo.

This particular content, wow, I totally forgot how magical Martin Nievera is on stage. To share a bit, your favorite Jaya, Regine, Martin, Gary, ZsaZsa, Ogie Alcasid (Regine's husband) all come from the same time like 80s to 90s. I had the pleasure of working with the Regine herself, on her concert with her husband, and they are the most humble people you'd ever meet.
And I can tell you almost all gays here worship Regine. She's like the Mariah of the gays here. Just to add some flavor to your already very rich understanding of OPM.

Reg was a hoot in her variety show Full House Tonight. She also hosted one long-running cooking show too because she loves cooking
