My soldering skills are excellent, I used to desolder old electronics as a teenager. I collected and sorted the components. I have been dealing with electronics for a long time, but I just know how to fix simple faults.

bit dodgy (risk & u can’t revert once those 2 black wires cut), but it works, & cost effective cf to alternative of replacing lots of parts. lucky you have such good eyesight & dexterity for all that fine work.

Sorry, but you have to undo the soldering, unplug the edp cable, and put that string of hard wire past the edp connector, after that you could solder those 2 wire back to backlight soldering point you made!

5:05 in this case i use dremel in the bottom broken fpc on those pins and solder the others connected without brocken it
anyway nobody gives repair warranty for water damaged mainboard.backlight fixed may keyboard is faulty or ec or matrix lines of keyboard has been rusted but that is another story.Job done.fine

who said dodgy... well.... people need more tech like you... fix it. don't throw it away.
a better way to do this is with a mini small connector because now replacing the keyboard will require to disconnect the lcd cable.

no you will not crack the screen . just pull out 2 long black double tape on each corner and you just lift the glass screen easily. 😅 lol. I diassemble this laptop screen while fixing the hinges. it was dell 5402
Waiting to see whether Sorin will solder to Gnd on PCB or whether he will check if metal of the connector of the cable has connection with metal of connector on PCB so if Sorin solders wire to metal of connector of cable, it will be same as soldering to PCB, but detachable.
Result: Sorin didn't do da ding.
Good fix and then more damage surfaces, that's a damn shame. Hopefully, the keyboard will be an easy fix if the customer agrees to it.
If you love dodgy there's some for everyone: Rossman is 1st world dodgy; Sorin is 2nd world dodgy; and, Tevz TV is 3rd world dodgy.

You should have added some connector to that wire. Now screen cable cannot be disconnected

Ok, problem solved, well done. However, if the keyboard is dead and the motherboard must come out in order to replace the keyboard, somebody will have to desolder that...

Sorin doesn't need to read this as he is only payed to fix hardware (and probably knows this anyway 😀) Keyboard can be disabled by incorrect registry entry for keyboard driver, Windows can sometimes install the wrong default keyboard driver. Usually it can be fixed with a registry edit if you search for it in on the web. Of course you'll need a mouse (or touch-screen functionality) and the on-screen keyboard display to change the registry.
