Nostalgia is a real threat. I love the rush of memories holding an item from an era brings me and even more so when it's a personal item I've had for decades. Kudos to you with that Tag.
I just bought my first IWC and after many decades and guessing 100s of watches that i have owned including Rolex, Omega, Ulysses Nardin and many vintage watches etc I can honestly say I’m more excited than ever before. Not been able to purchase another Rolex has made me explore other brands, thanks Rolex 😊
as a teenage in the 90s, I was gifted a Tag F1by my parents, sadly it got stolen by a neighbor lol... ever since, Tag Heuer is my favorite brand and I don't care what others say about it.
@@meanmistermustard2485 I prefer Heuer but I also love Tag Heuer aswell and have both in the collection. I own a Tag Heuer Night diver 989 113 from the late 80s. That's giving me zero issues and aged beautifully. Still want to add a Tag Heuer Link Calibre 16
My first grail watch was a Tag F1, it took me a lot of time saving the money but finally got it. Today it’s still in my collection but I don’t wear it so much, it’s a little bit small for me. From starting with that watch, the collection grew with some other brands and models, each of them has a little story. I hope I can keep them all and leave them for my sons. Good video.
My wife's 40th is in December. Earlier this year, I picked up an '05 Bvlgari Diagono automatic for a song. It just came back from servicing and my wife is in absolute love with it.
Late last night (the worst time to be shopping for watches), I saw a beautiful Orfina mechanical watch that is triangular shaped from the 50s or 60s. Instantly fell in love and reached for my credit card. Woke up this morning without the slightest tinge of regret. One of the most beautiful watches I’ve ever seen. The next owner is going to have to be in my will. This hobby allows to ease my mind, and to indulge in the sentiment “Finally, something beautiful you can truly own”. Now it’s part of my life.
" I have great taste, I just can't afford to prove it "...I rolled! My dress piece is my 1949 Gold Hamilton "Eric ". It is classic and I didn't have to spend a fortune to get a nice one.
Before watching your video here are my favourite brands. #1 TUDOR, #2 JLC #3 BREITLING , #4 ORIS #5 LONGINES honourable mentions CARTIER, NOMOS, SINN, HAMILTON & DOXA 😊
Heuer Monaco was my first grown up watch, a gift from my wife will always be my favorite. I think IWC is really under rated and just doesn’t get enough attention. I just added a Portugieser to my collection and love it.
This is an eclectic list - not what I was expecting, which is nice for a watch channel. Not going to lie, none of these brands are ones I personally get excited over - but definitely see and agree with your reasoning.
So recently my mum found her watch she wore as a kid in the 60s. It was a Timex Marlin Quartz, around 30mm case diameter. I loved that nostalgia hit so much I just got myself the reissue 34mm hand wound mechanical Marlin. I absolutely love the size for my 7.25” wrist ❤
Rolex, Heuer, Seiko, Sinn, Breitling and Tag Heuer. Yes I separate the Heuer era from Tag Heuer. The main reason I have a soft spot for Tag Heuer is because they were in alot of my favorite action film's from the 80s and 90s and early 2000s Die Hard, Roadhouse, Marked for death,Red Heat ,The Departed and the Jason Bourne franchise. Some honorable mentions are Tutima and Fortis and yes I do own a Tag Heuer Night diver 989 113 from the late 80s. That's giving me zero issues
I just bought the Cartier Tank Must with green dial! I can tell you that my eyes haven’t gone off my wrist ever since I bought it! It has the most beautiful green color you could imagine in the sun. Because of the kind of dark green coloured dial, it switches from this intense forest green color in the sun to a much darker green in normal lighting! I think this works spectacular for this watch! And I agree, everyone should have an Cartier Tank.
Hello from Mauritius! I am more and more in Cartier too!!! Some kind of irrational attraction 🙂 I was in Paris a month ago. And I bought the last Cartier Santos Dumont black lacquer dial still available in France. I can’t take it off my wrist 😂
I don't like the F1 but I love that you have a nostalgic connection! I share your love with neo vintage Cartier. My first proper watch 20+ years ago was a roadster that I still wear and love. Almost got a toetur monopoussoir but it went outta my price comfort zone. Longines is putting out some beautiful pieces these days. My collection is Lange, Moser, Daniel Roth heavy but even I might go for the new green 38mm conquest over the V Traditionelle in green. I think it looks better! Currently stalking Urban Jurgensen, a czapek rattrapante, lang & heyne, a breguet bc they're so undervalued, and a zeitwerk.
Weird little dress watches are my JAM, I don't even have a a diving watch yet lol. They don't have to be expensive! Don't forget microbrands like Xeric or Baltic, plus I got a sketchy-seeming vintage watch with small seconds and breguet numerals on eBay for $300 and got it fixed up for $120, it can work out just fine!
"I have great taste, I just can't afford to prove it." Great line! I think I'll be using this for a long time. For about the past two years, my favorite brand has been Tissot. I've had quite a thing for dress watches, and Tissot makes some beautiful and affordable pieces.
I just bought my first IWC. A beautiful white dial Mark XX. I rock it with a Zulu diver nato and must say I just love it. I wear it more than my submariner!
I'm surprised Rolex is not in the list. As you mentioned Rolex A LOT over the years. Personally my top 5 would be Cartier, A Lange & Sohne (unfortunately out of my reach), Same goes for Breguet. I have a soft spot for Rado and Oris.
Bravo Britt 🎉 you are getting back to watch making, history and nostalgia!! I was there when I first started out then somehow lost my way. Who knows maybe it was the hype…
Tag was the watch during my 90s when I was like teenager is a must to own, Rolex is too old folks, so is Omega then, unfortunately never had a chance to own a tag until I was like in my late 20s with enough money saved and gotten a Carrera.

I got to try the IWC Eternal Calendar last week. It's just an amazing piece of design and engineering, and is a lot more wearable than I expected. And I think they said that there were only 3 in the entire USA available to buy this year.
BTW: Looking the ones in reach and that I have bought OR are on the list, right now my top 5 are Glycine (2 Airman), Sea-Gull (on wish list), Invicta (3 Pro Divers), Tandorio (CWC W10 homage), Pagani (Newman's Own Daytona, but it's of course just an homage that came without his salad dressing!)
Tag-Heuer, I like the logo and the Heuer history. IWC, I have three of these; two Doppelchronograph and the 1941 B-Uhr 52SC… but I was disappointed with IWC modern watches calibres. Cartier: my first luxury watch as a student was the steel and gold Santos. Awesome 🤩
Fun choices for the top five (six). Like you I have been focusing on dressier pieces in precious metals rather than the normal steel sports. Definitely a gap in my collection. It has been a new rabbit hole. Fortunately I think I have got to the end of it with a mix of dial colors, shapes and metals. All the best.
A TAG Heuer diver (black bezel white dial) was my first luxury watch purchase back in 1995. It was quartz. But, I adored it and was it was pretty much my main watch for over 12 years. Sadly, I somehow lost it within 2 months of moving into a new home.. I swear it's still somewhere in the house. Or, I somehow dumped it by accident with paint or floor epoxy supplies fixing up the garage. I'm hoping for the former and I might find it behind one of the custom shelves I built in the garage some day. Would love to see a reissue of their 90s divers. Yeah, I guess the Aquaracers are the modern descendents of them. But, they don't quite have that neo-vintage style and charm. If they can bring back the F1, they can do the divers, too. Currently, as far as TAG Heuer is concerned, I have a Carrera (pre-glassbox) and an Aquaracer Solargraph Titanium. I was never adversely affected by the stigma of TAG Heuer brand and that debacle a while back that supposedly marred their image. I don't love all their models. But, the few I do I think are really great.
The watch nerds that hate them are mostly sheep. The latest Carrera range is impressive, all of them, including the simple date models. Kith was a mistake, but otherwise they are on a serious roll, and the Glassbox and Skipper are probably the best chronos at their respective price points.
@@lonewolfemcquade8133 probably true. My specific example I have never been able to find a decent used version of it. A bit too ratty to pay the price asking for them as far as I've seen. And, I've been looking for a while and check occasionally and have saved as a search on eBay. Thus, I would still love to see them brought back so I can get a very good, if not simply new, example to start off with again.
I had this video playing in the background and all I heard was "hired Hans Zimmer to do the music"...and I was like "Britt hired Hans Zimmer to do the music for her channel?!" Wait, what?! Hans Zimmer does the music for the new 'Dune' movies....and Britt literally looks like Rebecca Ferguson's younger sister (you look EXACTLY like her!)...so is Britt going to be in the forthcoming 'Dune part 3'?!?! Yes, I've got problems 😳🤣😂
Honestly, Tag could go places if they finally bring back their iconic watches possibly in smaller sizes. I recently checked their new chronographs and OMG, they’re quite amazing. I still think they should lower the prices of the base models as competing with Tudor will make them loose on the entry level divers.
Nostalgia is a real threat. I love the rush of memories holding an item from an era brings me and even more so when it's a personal item I've had for decades. Kudos to you with that Tag.
