Everybody talks about reliability but they buy the most unreliable cars on the market. If reliability is what you're after then these cars are not for you
Former Lincoln LS owner here (owned for 17 years up to 322k miles) then moved to 05 S-Type R for about 2 years and loved both, now naturally I am in an XFR which is loosely based on the LS as well and it’s fantastic. Thanks for the video.
Im currently driving a 2002 lincoln ls with the 3.9 v8 jaguar motor....its got almost 170k miles and it drives nice and comfy ....premium gas and minor issues aside its been a good car
I have lost count on the cars I have owned & I can honestly say this is the best car I have owned & am glad to say I still own!! The saying you get so much car for the money is spot on!! Peace From London!! 🙏🙏
the retro craze is happening now ! Hyundai ioniq 5 and N vision 74 (yes it's going into production), Ford Bronco, Dodge Charger, Honda E, Nissan Hard boy edition and Nissan Z, Toyota Landcruiser 1958 edition, Songsan Dolphin SS, VW ID BUZZ
Another one of my favorite Jaguars. Love the color on this. My minister owned one. Got to ride in it lots of times and drove it a few times. Smooth and comfortable. Its why he bought used. 😊
This was a car I'd once owned, and man i loved it. I loved it but i hated the diesel it had, problems on that engine everywhere. the car itself though, so luxurious, calm, refined and FAST. The ZF-Transmission is quite a reliable piece, maybe the owner should flush the fluids a bit, normally they're proven to be good gearboxes. The one you had there is also the facelift one, which, for anyone who wants one, thats your primary target. Heck, fords 3.0 V6 is also the main prize to go for, the 4.2 V8 gives you too little in comparison of the V6, and the Supercharged unit will be more difficult to find.
I enjoyed your video, Zack. I'm Australian, and have never owned a Jaguar, but from what I've seen online, a lot of reviewers in the UK were not too fussed about the retro styling. Niggling little things like that "Check engine" light coming on for no reason are certain to put some people off. I agree with your comment about that being like a leaky faucet. I have two of those in my house. From 2009 to 2012, I owned a SAAB 9000 hatchback. An excellent car, and very comfortable. However, it was a 1993 model, and had some niggling faults. Periodically, the headlights would go off without warning when driving at night, for example. I would have to say that minor electrical faults are likely to happen as cars approach twenty years old.
@@SueUTubeKia took design cues from a number of European and Japanese luxury cars, including this, the Mercedes-Benz E Class (probably the W210), the Lexus GS (the second generation).
I bought a used one back in the day when I was a lil punk Thought it was pimpin. Been sitting in my garage for years not running. Yes, u must replace all the coils & the brakes feel like you're stepping on a deflated basketball. Nice leather & wood interior tho. Good times!
REBADGED??? Then why is the chassis based on too many components off the older XK? Lincoln LS is based upon S-type. Not the other way round. Unless ford had some time travel capabilities....
My dad had one of these he bought second hand about 3 years ago after a month ownership it kept having transmission issue where it would not go into reverse, he ended up having to sell it off after getting tired of having it in the shop and the repair cost for transmission being more than he paid for the car
In regards to the statements when doing your back seat review. I wouldn't call this an executive class car. This was the car a guy who couldn't quite afford a well dressed 5 series BMW got. Then they depreciated so fast they became the easiest to obtain prestige car for anyone under 20. Now days it's rare to come across one as nice or original as this one.
Ah, but there is something crazy in the trunk - the battery, in a very hard to find size. Try to pick one of those up in small town America on a weekend. I still like 'em though - to me the styling has worn quite well. But not as a V6
Uhm.. If they moved the backseat a bit more behind, they would have to remove the back glass so passengers could place their heads while in the backseat.
Not my favorite Jaguar, I thought they were a bit ugly and ended up in hoopty condition pretty quickly. They were always a little tight inside, not to mention the poor reliability. Still, I like Jaguar the brand for making gentlemen's luxury saloons.
These cars never got the appreciation they deserved. All anyone talks about is the reliability. They were the right product(s) for the brand(s).
Ironic because the S-Type R was fairly reliable.
@@Nathan_Jayone day I would love to own an s type R. Probably not gonna happen, but man they are sweet

Reliability killed that
I used to have a blue 2006 S-Type diesel. Such a nice car and surprisingly reliable after 200k miles.

My favorite early 2000s Jaaaaaag
Jaguar S-Type was the most reliable used car in Finland's inspection statistics of the 2007 cars back in 2013. Believe it or not.
Number 1 rule of owning an old car: Never, and I do mean NEVER say the check engine light is off, as soon as you say it's off, it will come on.
OMG this is soooooo true!!!! 😂😂
@@OmarHudson I had the P0420 code, then I got it to go away, as soon as I said that, the catalyst system went from green, to a pending code. 🤣🤣

Amen to that my S-Type brother
Check out mine!
That shifter was called a “J-Gate” shifter back when they were in production.
The best cars! Of best of Ford &Jaguar I am a proud owner of a 2003 LS as well V6 203k miles and still runs great! Go Jaguar!
I want to restore those headlight lenses badly.

I do like the retro styling with these S type Jaguars thus what Jaguars should look like even today

Always loved the looks of those! Beautiful car!
I like the fact the s type isnt so big it makes it feel sportier.
I love my s type its a plaesure.

I always liked it. The reliability has always been a problem with Jaguars. Even worse with other models.
My s type r has 184k miles not the worst reliability around. It definitely outlasted my Porsche boxster and Mercedes s class
Loved these. The pretty version of the LS!

Don't forget Kia copied this car, the Amanti or whatever (don't tell me you remember that car enough to spell it without Googling)
You mean the Opirus? It had similar looking headlights to this, but didn't look exactly like this.
I thought the Amanti looked classic. Didn't know it was associated with the S type.

Haha. I own a 2008 Kia Amanti. Same engine - trans as the Hyundai Azera he recently reviewed. Great cars all around.
This was way more than a rebadge.
The Jesus fish caught me off guard for some reason...
03 on S-Type received a completely new front suspension where LS didn’t.

I got this carr🥰 transmission was a little jumpy when i got it but you just have to know how to drive it🙌
Someone once told me that those shifters were called J-Gate shifters.

How would reliability be with this particular Jag? Expensive I guess? If so it's a pity! The machine is majestic looking! Peace...🙏♐

In Europe this car came with a 2.7 and later a 3.0 turbo diesel V6 .
Was this the model where Sting did a commercial? You know the song about desert rain..
Desert rose but yes
I love my car ..long live the leaper 🐆
trunk space is that much because otherwise tools and big stuff wouldn't fit in, iyk what i mean
there is no fake wood in the s type! actually the wood shifter is a walnut.
Please do an R version of this car 😬
Back when Ford owned Jaguar
There's a super nice silver 2001 S for sale at Near New Auto in Berea, KY. Interior is even nicer than this one.
My cousin has a 03 and this car keeps breaking down 😢

Exterior wise I think the car looks great minus the front end. The front looks a bit off to me. Cheap somehow?
I like the front end but I didn't care for the leaping cat hood ornament on the US models. It looks cleaner and more elegant without it.

Sorry but that front end was designed on a Friday afternoon
I have questions and need repair help on my 2003 3.0L V6 Jaguar S-Type. If anyone has any knowledge please leave a comment.
