Sonic Colors really is the GOAT. People complain about how the Wisps slow the game down yet they never bothered actually learning and experimenting with them. Doing so unlocks Dozens of Alternate Routes and lets you skip the REAL slow sections, 13 years later (holy shit) and I’m still finding new paths to mix and match for faster times. I even love the story, it’s just goofy fun with a Snarky and Cool Sonic. My only real problem is how the Main Acts were split into 2 Acts which leaves each Act feeling kinda short at around 1-2 minutes each, it’s not a massive problem as every stage still has a ton of substance (unlike newer stages in Forces and Frontiers) but it would’ve been nice to play them as one full level instead of two. I wish they used some of the Sonic Simulator stage Layouts for Main Acts as quite a few are pretty great.
I would like to see more of the Wisps. I can think more of what they can do with them. Like what if The Mother Wisp that was introduced in Sonic Colors DS went into Sonic? What power would she give him?
The point is to enjoy what you like, i remember loving to play Sonic colors on the wii as a kid but i allowed the internet to change my view on it, heck i even love forces and no matter what others say you should just do what you want to do
Personally, I prefer the boost style as presented in unleashed. I love carefully planning my route, optimizing and cutting corners wherever I can, and analyzing how to balance finishing fast with getting as many points as possible, I like a little bit of exploration, but only if it’s in favor of finding a better more optimal path, S ranks aren’t just mastery of the level design though, it comes from MECHANICAL mastery as well, being able to perfectly execute shortcuts using Sonic’s physics and movement tech. THAT is what I love about the boost formula. (P.S. aquarium park is by far the best song in sonic colors, and is inarguably my favorite. You can like what you want, but aquarium park is peak.)
I really like how Colors handles the boost over the other boost games, it helps give the game its own identity. Instead of the game just handing you the speed and asking you to maintain it, the game more so asks you to find the speed which is different depending on the level and good you are. If you know what you're doing you can pull off some real crazy stuff even in the extra stages like Aquarium Park Act 2.

Not to mention the drill Wisp -The drift sections being about maintaining your drift for as long as possible (thanks to the point system) instead of just making corners is more interesting to me The game also just has my favourite atmosphere. The music, the environments, the pacing of gameplay, and even tone of the story (despite some bad jokes) It's just a very chill vibe Objectively, and id say Generations is the best boost game, but i might PREFER Colors. And it's definitely my 2nd favorite boost game at least
I like colours. Different take on boost and what it does is what it does best. But i personally like unleashed more. Obviously there's some stuff unleashed has problems with but its not that big of a deal and most times is just a skill issue. And generations is just a worser sonic unleashed which i find funny cuz it came out AFTER unleashed. Anyway i like unleashed gane style. I love going fast but unleashed isn't just about going fast to get an s rank. Enemies and rings matter a lot to where its sometimes required to get an s rank. Mastery on those and routes its so fun! Unlike generations and up where its so easy to get an s rank. Imo out of all 3 boost games (not counting forces and above) unleashed perfected the boost system more then any of the others. I just find it more fun and what a main line title SHOULD BE with obvi minor improvements but keep the core gameplay of unleashed untouched. And for story man its good. Thankfully the writing didn't get worse by unleashed point. So u get actual deep thinking and good writing lines for everyone. Story aint perfect they def could have done a bit better but against character writing from generations and up its just not the same level. I view generations as the start if the downfall of sonic games. The writing got a bit worse and gameplay limited u more on speed and freedom. Then it happened more and more with forces. I think colours doesn't affect this CUZ of the major differences it has from unleashed style of gameplay. I love both but i just like unleashed more (keep in mind until recently i never played unleashed since my disc would crash after the first boost boss fight section. My first and only sonic game was generations. Now i see how flawed they made it after playing unleashed. Also keep in mind that i played unleashed on an em for my first time so i got 60 fps and better graphics)
I'll be honest, I grew up with the DS version of this game, and love it so much. And my first time playing 3D version was on the Switch with the Ultimate remaster. Still love it. Gameplay is outstanding, it's actually difficult (still haven't gotten Super Sonic), the Music defined my childhood for a while, and it's a Sonic game, it doesn't need to have a Frontiers level story to be good. Just give me a few worlds of interactive and layered gameplay at a manageable speed and I'm good. Now I've never played Unleashed, so I can't say for sure, but that one seems a little too fast and uncontrollable, whereas this one manages it's speed well. I enjoy the 3D sections as well as the 2D. It's Sonic, it thrives on 2D sections that reward you for learning them, that was the whole original point of the series. So to be perfectly honest, this is my favorite boost Sonic, I have never had any issues with the remaster and even love the visuals and "too much bloom" that people like to complain about, and I hope that this game can get a Pokemon Black style revolution where people stop pretending they hate it just to fit in with the rest of the crowd. Thank you for coming to my TED talk, I will now dismount the soap box.
Love this game to death even after hearing everyone assassinate it all these years later. Definitely in my top 3 favorite sonic games and top 10 fav games of all time.
Ok so I disagree but only on the point of this being the BEST form of the boost. Not necessarily with any of the ways that the boost was implemented within this game itself. Ultimately, I think that Unleashed utilized the boost the absolute BEST cause it took full advantage of how fast you coukd get the player to go to and havingbthe player memorize the levels. But Sonic Colors took advantage of the boost in while an admittedly very cool way. They took away the aspect of the boost that was what made it a boost. The insane speed. Now, on that note, I do understand that the Wii is probably what limited this aspect of the boost in the game since the hardware it was running on wasn't the best for the time. So, I kind of just ignore it because, other then the admitedly terrible voice acting in this game, IT IS A BLAST!!! (I confess that this is one of the most adicting Sonic games I have ever played, and I unapologetically have nearly 50 hours on thr original and about 40 hours on Colors Ultimate.) Also, I'm pretty sure that Colors Ultimate has been patched up enough that those glitches have become the exception and not the rule. And while I agree that they could have implemented the "Sweet Spot" homing attack a little better. I think it gets thr job done just fine. Colors to me is a really fun game that just doesn't quite touch Unleashed or Frontiers for me. It most remains in third when it comes to the Boost Formula for me. It's not a bad game, the Baldy Nosehair joke is occasionally funny, and it is SUPER ADDICTING to actually play. Also, 2D does not equal bad, I don't know where the fanbase got that from, but its starting to get highly annoying all things considered.
Finally somebody get its. Exploration is where this game shines. Like the classics up until SA1. Such a great break from score attacking. Earning an S in this games means I engaged with the games mechanics to the fullest. Sonic Colors is top 10 for me.
I prefer unleashed but I have Sonic colors ultimate on switch and I find it fun to get S ranks I thought I S ranked every level on Sonic unleashed though and realized I hadn't even A ranked THE FIRST LEVEL!!!!!! I beat the egg beatle in like 40 seconds though .
Am i gonna sit here and say it's a bad game, no. But the PERFECT boost title? I feel like that's a stretch. if you're looking at it from a stance of "It has the best gimmick" cause people hated the werehog in unleashed and classic sonic was just... classic sonic in gens then yeah i could kinda see where your coming from. To me I'm way more likely to replay gens and unleashed cause the feel and control feels more... loose and fast if that makes sense
I never really cared for the ranking system in this game to be honest with you, I usually go for perfect runs like how i play Unleashed, Generations, Forces, and Cyberspace, but for the most part, this game doesn’t let you do that, and I feel like it shouldn’t have relied so much on wisps, S Ranks and “perfect runs” are basically mutually exclusive It would have been cool if you could get an S Rank for either getting a high time bonus or lots of color bonuses, sort of similar to how Sonic 2 lets you get a one up and a continue for any stage by either finishing in under 30 seconds or getting every ring Hopefully my rambling made sense lol
I'm trying to understand your point, and It seems like you said you wish the wisps were used less, yet you would like the rank to be more based on color bonuses?
@@GDubA well, no, I guess what I’m trying to say is i think it’s too gimmicky for my tastes, I prefer games like Unleashed and Rush since they’re more about pure skill (looking back at my original comment, I could have definitely condensed it lmao)
@@GDubA and that’s totally okay, everyone has different preferences I think I really like how the DS version handled the ranking system, sure, it’s mostly about speed, but the wisps help you take shortcuts, so you can’t really get S Ranks without them in that version either, but I think it was handled better there
I think Sonic Colors is just a great game too, it's just a nice enjoyable time of 2 hours for you to spend, idk if I would consider it my favorite boost game, I love Generations, Unleashed and Frontiers (if you count it) a lot, but it still is a really great, fun and solid game (if I had to rank it on a tierlist I would place it in an "A" tier easily), it's impressive how we only got one boost game that I would consider below "good" or "avarage", that being Forces, which isn't the worst Sonic game ever, I think I would rank it literally alongside with 06 above at least 30 other Sonic games, and I like lots of things in it especially speedrunning its levels, but it isn't too great as well And although it's not my favorite Boost game, I still think it's the smoothest controls for Sonic in a boost game, idk why but I always enjoyed and felt Colors controls were really smooth, especially since you don't have the boost all the time unlike all the other boost games, since you can only refill the gague with White Wisps, unlike Unleashed and Generations filling up with rings and Frontiers filling up automatically, so the regular no-boost controls have a lot more focus so they're smoother, Gens and Unleashed makes Sonic feels really slippery, especially because they're based more around fast reaction rather than plataforming Frontiers is the only one that beats Colors in that aspect, for me Frontiers controls are one of the best of the series along with SA1 and SA2, and they're really smooth and fun to control, especially since even though the boost refills automatically, it still feels more like a "sprint" button rather than a way to get to max speed in a second and have no time to react to things around you, it only makes your regular movement that you already have but faster, it's like Lost World, but done right, and I have to admit that even though I like Lost World, I think the run button is kinda stupid, especially since unlike Frontiers you're SLOW without it, and it does not increase your max speed, it only makes your speed comes to regular, which I think it's fine because Lost World has a lot of precise plataforming, but can get a bit frustrating to hold a button to run across a small gap because Sonic is really slow Anyway, Sonic Colors, great game Edit: Just finished the video, funny how I talked about the same things you did, that means we really think the game is fun for the same reasons, and also the things I DIDN'T mention that I never once thought about, the Ranking Systems being about exploration and the Wisp Usage being for exploration and taking advantage of the levels, that's really cool, and yes, the art direction for Colors is amazing, alongside Heroes, its my favorite art direction out of all the 3D games, and the OST, nothing new for a Sonic game, but it's gorgeous (and I love them all including Aquarium Park, which for me it's just as wondeful as the others) And the thing you said about the story... omg, yes, another point I agree so much, I don't get why people acts as if the story of this game killed their family or smth, I think the story is alright, it fills the role of a story and tries not to be an important focus of it, I also like Black Knight a lot and LOVE that game's characterization just as much as I love the characterzation of most games from that era, but what matters a good story when the game can't keep up? Like 06, Black Knight, Secret Rings... Colors story works for the purpose its in, and doesn't take the focus of the game, the game is fun, literally Colors and Generations were made because Sonic Team needed a direction change after the last games not being well recieved, and both WORKED! Even without a deep story, both Colors and Generations were super well recieved, and their stories fill their roles as stories, not descharacterizing the characters, just making them a bit silly and stupid, but the gameplay is what matters in a game, what should be analysed the most and both nail the gameplay just right And also, I think Colors Ultimate is a good port, might overexagerate on the bloom, but I played it months after launch, on Steam which wasn't the most complained version (that goes to the Switch version), the biggest problem really seems to have been those texture breaking glitches, and by playing months after the launch after many patches, I think I was clear, never once found a visual glitch (I also found some people who never had even on launch, but since lots of people had, I'll not say those didn't existed), I think now that Colors Ultimate doesn't has those visual glitches, it's just Sonic Colors with some cool new features like Metal Sonic races and Perfect Homing Attack
I thought Colors was just alright. I love the atmosphere, the double jump, and the straight forwardness of the level selection, but compared to Generations and especially Unleashed, it doesn't come close. Those 2 games do 2D sections much better which is an issue because Colors is mostly 2D. They keep the flow of the level going much better.
I think the reason people dislike Colors' story isn't necessarily Colors' fault. It's the fact that it indirectly spawned the writing of Lost World and Forces, two of the worst written Sonic games, and Colors got unfairly grouped in with them. Sonic has a long history of appearing in Saturday morning cartoon style media or anything, so Colors having a lighter story isn't at all out of place. I think the difference between them is that Colors kind of realizes that it's more of a silly game, and doesn't try to up the stakes. But Lost World and Forces tries to add drama to a corny writing style and that's why those two games fail
@@GDubA Yet got some reason people think Sonic being lightheaded......at all is some sorta crime against humanity. But only when the modern games do it. Like why is Heroes allowed to have a Saturday morning vibe but not Colors?
@@Sydney_Angelyt The environments only had to fit the level design. Other than that though, it's trying to emulate real life environments In parts of the world
☝️🤓 erm actually unleashed is the best sonic controls in boost, he can do a full turn, go supa fast, and he can spam homing attack in all directions without messing up
Colors (wii) feels good but different, but best boost game is still unleashed, but its still pretty nice (wii version) ultimate downgraded it, and ds version is underrated
Colors is peak yeah the story sucks but that wasn't the focus of this game it was the gameplay and the gameplay is so much fun, most of the wisps are fun, the level design is fun to replay especially if you get the red star rings, and this was the first time super sonic was actually playable in 3d. it's not in my top 5 favorite sonic games but it's close.
I feel like sonic colours sonic heroes and sonic and the secret rings are over hated. Like most people hate these games wven though they are much better than most sonic games imo. Ik your opinion on sonic heroes. But i think we can both agree that colours is underated
Colours is mid or at least ultimate was maybe I’d enjoy the original more. But I’m not going out of my way to find a working wii or a version of the og game so I guess I’ll never know.
@GDubA I don't think either of those games have filler to the extent of Colors, where they explicitly took two act zones, halved them to make more acts, and then made even more extra acts by reusing chunks of those earlier acts to artificially triple the game's length. I'll gladly take the Werehog or some of the bonus missions in Gens any day over hit levels such as running in an infinite circle or the two autoscrollers or the many many acts that are just small pieces of earlier acts with slight level design changes like adding a sprinkler or spamming yellow blocks everywhere lmao. Most of the filler in Unleashed and Gens come in optional bonus missions (which is probably what Colors' extra acts were meant to be before they made them mandatory) - and no, the Werehog isn't filler just because you don't like him. He has his own unique gameplay and levels and plays a very vital role in making Unleashed what it is. It's not just arbitrarily stretching the length of zones to fill a playtime quota. They actually put thought into his character, gameplay, and role in the story.
Here me out : sonic colors cannot compare to other boost formula games. Why ? Imo, sonic colors is like "what if nintendo made a sonic game" let me explain (warning: i'm not comparing it to lost world cause lost world is just mario 3d land but it's trash) : The game design philosophy, as you explained in the video, puts emphasis on exploration and getting rsr's which gets you a better ranking. Think about it, mario games make you search for star medals and gives you power ups and even additional levels. Kirby games makes you explore levels for goodies, additional levels and even additional game modes. Sonic colors has a 2d, puzzle based game design with the utilization of wisps as the key to the puzzles, those puzzles make you finish the level faster and thus get a better ranking. In mario, the puzzles are solved using power ups like the fire flower, tanuki leaf etc and those give you star medals. In kirby, your power ups also serve solve puzzles and even fusion power ups and ally characters help you silving those. You see what i'm saying ? Sonic colors isn't a bad game, it's pretty good, but you can't compare it to other sonic games as it's very unique, and honestly if i have to recommand a sonic game to a mario/kirby fan i'd recommand colors.
I STRONGLY disagree. I think it’s the weakest and Unleashed is the strongest, I think the heavy slowness completely opposes the idea of the boost formula being high speed reaction and tight platforming, and it’s way too 2D. I understand it’s trying to be different, but I don’t find it as fun as the adventure, classic, or boost titles. It’s trying to be a boost game and a classic game at the same time and succeeds at neither. That’s just my opinion though, good video btw.
Yeah I’m gonna have to disagree because the level design in colors is kinda boring and is mainly 2d generations and unleashed do a much better job of balancing 2d and 3d they also have more in the way of level design however colors is still decent and has a lot of cool locations
"The game is fun, and that's what matters" I cannot stress this point enough. SA2, Unleashed, Black Knight, and Secret Rings all suffer from this when ever discussed. Yall will *_GLAZE_* the stories to NO END. But when I bring up motion controls, slow ass werehog, or mech stages, all of a sudden the subject has to change. I've said this before, and I'll say it again. You are not, in any fashion, required go justify your opinion on a game. You understanding why people may dislike what you like, does not bring down your own opinion. You guys also need to understand that most people hold gameplay over everything. They don't care if "it immerses you into the world", or some other excuse. The gameplay is the forefront of any game. If that doesn't hold up, then anything else falls with it, including the masterpieces you call the stories.
@@Skeleton20133 Wait, hold on. WHY PLAY THE GAME THEN??? If Story is more important then gameplay, then games literally shouldn't exist at all. How can a bad story completely ruin the experience when I can skip cutscenes? You are making the game worse for yourself my ignoring the main part of the product. Also, the mech stages aren't "objectively" good. Like every art from, games and their parts are subjective. I don't like the mech stages, but I won't act like I can't see the appeal. I just think it doesn't fit in a Sonic game. Things like classic sonic, wisps, doom powers, multiple play styles based on Sonic, and speed based combat do that better for me, since they're more integrated into the main experience, rather than being a completely different game that causes whiplash after every 3 stages. You can't call your opinion fact, we can agree to disagree, and like what we like. I literally said in this comment, you are not required to justify your opinion, you do you.
@@Skeleton20133 well, there's many Mario games and they almost never have story. In fact, the only game to have a proper story (Galaxy 1) still has competition for the best Mario game. Not every game needs story to be good or popular. That includes Sonic games. Also, Nothing is objectively good, and that includes mech stages.
@@sikosonix901 Except you're objectively wrong. Sonic 1 didn't sell well because of the gameplay and Mario games are dogshit to begin with with the exception of a few games Mech stages are objectively good. Facts don't care about your feelings.
You're objectively wrong. The game forces you to use the wisps to get the red rings and forces you to use them for exploration, the slow segments hinder the game, and 2D sections are the example that Sonic Team cannot commit to make a 3D Sonic game. Also, the soundtrack is shit.
Using the gimmick of the game to get opinion collectibles is “objectively bad?” Yeah THAT is wrong. Once again the 2d, that’s not objective, but I get it. The game does have slow sections, and that’s not a good thing. Plus it’s a smaller scale game on the wii it wasn’t big budget by any terms really. Holy COW that intro was FIRE 🔥🔥
Fire TED talk.
Try enabling the 1x resolution bloom hack in the graphics mods in Dolphin, it makes the bloom look more natural and less ugly and segmented.
Holy crap that looks so much better.
As a sonic rush fan, i agree
Finally somebody get its. Exploration is where this game shines. Like the classics up until SA1. Such a great break from score attacking. Earning an S in this games means I engaged with the games mechanics to the fullest. Sonic Colors is top 10 for me.
I prefer unleashed but I have Sonic colors ultimate on switch and I find it fun to get S ranks I thought I S ranked every level on Sonic unleashed though and realized I hadn't even A ranked THE FIRST LEVEL!!!!!! I beat the egg beatle in like 40 seconds though .
This game has level disign thats kinda similar to chaos control imo. good vid btw
Only Sonic Colors perfected the boost, and I can feel it.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
The drill is the goat what can I say.
idk why people complain about the bosses being reused the copy of the first boss is literally called "Refreshinator"
I never really cared for the ranking system in this game to be honest with you, I usually go for perfect runs like how i play Unleashed, Generations, Forces, and Cyberspace, but for the most part, this game doesn’t let you do that, and I feel like it shouldn’t have relied so much on wisps, S Ranks and “perfect runs” are basically mutually exclusive
It would have been cool if you could get an S Rank for either getting a high time bonus or lots of color bonuses, sort of similar to how Sonic 2 lets you get a one up and a continue for any stage by either finishing in under 30 seconds or getting every ring
Hopefully my rambling made sense lol
I'm trying to understand your point, and It seems like you said you wish the wisps were used less, yet you would like the rank to be more based on color bonuses?
@@GDubA well, no, I guess what I’m trying to say is i think it’s too gimmicky for my tastes, I prefer games like Unleashed and Rush since they’re more about pure skill (looking back at my original comment, I could have definitely condensed it lmao)
@@UltraSTH Alright that’s much clearer. And yeah I do see your point, the wisps are 100% just a gimmick. But I’ve always found using them super fun.
@@GDubA and that’s totally okay, everyone has different preferences
I think I really like how the DS version handled the ranking system, sure, it’s mostly about speed, but the wisps help you take shortcuts, so you can’t really get S Ranks without them in that version either, but I think it was handled better there
The different approach concept happened in CD and no one remembers that game
i wish i could find my wii and play that game again, i never got the chance to get super sonic 😢
11:53 sorry GDubA, but aquarium park is GOATED.😊
I think Sonic Colors is just a great game too, it's just a nice enjoyable time of 2 hours for you to spend, idk if I would consider it my favorite boost game, I love Generations, Unleashed and Frontiers (if you count it) a lot, but it still is a really great, fun and solid game (if I had to rank it on a tierlist I would place it in an "A" tier easily), it's impressive how we only got one boost game that I would consider below "good" or "avarage", that being Forces, which isn't the worst Sonic game ever, I think I would rank it literally alongside with 06 above at least 30 other Sonic games, and I like lots of things in it especially speedrunning its levels, but it isn't too great as well
And although it's not my favorite Boost game, I still think it's the smoothest controls for Sonic in a boost game, idk why but I always enjoyed and felt Colors controls were really smooth, especially since you don't have the boost all the time unlike all the other boost games, since you can only refill the gague with White Wisps, unlike Unleashed and Generations filling up with rings and Frontiers filling up automatically, so the regular no-boost controls have a lot more focus so they're smoother, Gens and Unleashed makes Sonic feels really slippery, especially because they're based more around fast reaction rather than plataforming
Frontiers is the only one that beats Colors in that aspect, for me Frontiers controls are one of the best of the series along with SA1 and SA2, and they're really smooth and fun to control, especially since even though the boost refills automatically, it still feels more like a "sprint" button rather than a way to get to max speed in a second and have no time to react to things around you, it only makes your regular movement that you already have but faster, it's like Lost World, but done right, and I have to admit that even though I like Lost World, I think the run button is kinda stupid, especially since unlike Frontiers you're SLOW without it, and it does not increase your max speed, it only makes your speed comes to regular, which I think it's fine because Lost World has a lot of precise plataforming, but can get a bit frustrating to hold a button to run across a small gap because Sonic is really slow
Anyway, Sonic Colors, great game
Edit: Just finished the video, funny how I talked about the same things you did, that means we really think the game is fun for the same reasons, and also the things I DIDN'T mention that I never once thought about, the Ranking Systems being about exploration and the Wisp Usage being for exploration and taking advantage of the levels, that's really cool, and yes, the art direction for Colors is amazing, alongside Heroes, its my favorite art direction out of all the 3D games, and the OST, nothing new for a Sonic game, but it's gorgeous (and I love them all including Aquarium Park, which for me it's just as wondeful as the others)
And the thing you said about the story... omg, yes, another point I agree so much, I don't get why people acts as if the story of this game killed their family or smth, I think the story is alright, it fills the role of a story and tries not to be an important focus of it, I also like Black Knight a lot and LOVE that game's characterization just as much as I love the characterzation of most games from that era, but what matters a good story when the game can't keep up? Like 06, Black Knight, Secret Rings... Colors story works for the purpose its in, and doesn't take the focus of the game, the game is fun, literally Colors and Generations were made because Sonic Team needed a direction change after the last games not being well recieved, and both WORKED! Even without a deep story, both Colors and Generations were super well recieved, and their stories fill their roles as stories, not descharacterizing the characters, just making them a bit silly and stupid, but the gameplay is what matters in a game, what should be analysed the most and both nail the gameplay just right
And also, I think Colors Ultimate is a good port, might overexagerate on the bloom, but I played it months after launch, on Steam which wasn't the most complained version (that goes to the Switch version), the biggest problem really seems to have been those texture breaking glitches, and by playing months after the launch after many patches, I think I was clear, never once found a visual glitch (I also found some people who never had even on launch, but since lots of people had, I'll not say those didn't existed), I think now that Colors Ultimate doesn't has those visual glitches, it's just Sonic Colors with some cool new features like Metal Sonic races and Perfect Homing Attack
Colours is just fine as a game.
No seriously, you mean the DS version right?
nope
@@GDubA I'm gonna replay colours on Wii then just to be sure.
Sonic Colours getting love in 2024!?!??!?! We'll you don't see that everyday😅
Colors is my favourite 2d sonic game!
No matter if you call it a 3d game or 2d, the game is baller.
@@GDubA true
Generations is also a pretty great 2D Sonic Game.
Exactly. I see many people dislike colors because of the games that came after it, which makes zero sense.
@@GDubA Yet got some reason people think Sonic being lightheaded......at all is some sorta crime against humanity. But only when the modern games do it. Like why is Heroes allowed to have a Saturday morning vibe but not Colors?

The greatest boost game if you ignore all the filler*
Unleashed is the Best boost game
If you ignore all the filler
Filler is better than being annoyed by the werehog, or the classic or avatar stages. Plus gens has that same filler.

Why ?
Imo, sonic colors is like "what if nintendo made a sonic game" let me explain (warning: i'm not comparing it to lost world cause lost world is just mario 3d land but it's trash) :
The game design philosophy, as you explained in the video, puts emphasis on exploration and getting rsr's which gets you a better ranking.
*sleeps*
Just... Leave!
I call cap, Sonic Unleashed was better...

"The game is fun, and that's what matters"
I cannot stress this point enough.
Fun means shit if the story is trash. Also, the mech stages are objectively good.
@@sikosonix901 Because games like Metal Gear Solid wouldn't be popular if there is no story. Also, the mech stages are objectively good.
@@Skeleton20133 well, there's many Mario games and they almost never have story. In fact, the only game to have a proper story (Galaxy 1) still has competition for the best Mario game. Not every game needs story to be good or popular. That includes Sonic games.

@@sikosonix901 Except you're objectively wrong. Sonic 1 didn't sell well because of the gameplay and Mario games are dogshit to begin with with the exception of a few games
Mech stages are objectively good.
