So maybe it implies that when Fishman Island is destroyed it will take them to the surface somewhere safe and then they will never have to hide underwater separated from human. Something like that would make sense to me given the Biblical reference.

What I find really interesting is that the Bubble around fishman island is structured like a lipid bilayer, say a membran. The tunnel where you enter would be a protein in the membran.

Don't really think of it as a necessary correction, but the "reasoning" behind it is too cool I can't help it. The "eel" gondola you're talking about is actually called an Oarfish. It pretty much looks exactly like that fish without the gondola, albeit much creepier looking and they're known to only live in the very depths of the sea. Amazing little details Oda adds that really make sense. Like the blobfish/vampire octopus/gulper eels that are shown when the Straw Hats are traveling down to Fishman Island.
Photosynthesis only happens within the first two hundred meters beneath the surface, sometimes less, depending on turbidity. Plant photosythesis is not the most efficient, so plants don't live at the lowest point where photosythesis is energetically feasible. There are some plants that don't photosynthesize, but those are exceptionally rare cases (parasitising other plants). So there is no seaweed in total darkness. The nutrients *do* come from the photosynthetic organisms however, that build biomass and then sediment downward or get pulled down by currents. *TL;DR* : Plants and photosynthesis below 200 meters under the surface aren't a thing.
