The Most Toughest, Strongest and Hardass Video Game Bosses I find to be Hardcore are:
1. Emil from *NieR: Automata*
2. Justine and Caroline from *Persona 5*
3. Rodin from *Bayonetta*
4. Culex from *Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars*
5. Ozma from *Final Fantasy 9/IX*
6. Lingering Will from *Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix*
7. Demi-Fiend from the *Megami Tensei* franchise
You se i fing king hrolf kraki a lot more chalenging then gna agein i think its probably cous i defeated sigrun in gow 2018 that i to think that is harder then gna
Look around you humans, you’re not the only ones who beat those really hard bosses. Our world’s size is beyond belief.
I’m glad mojo put Queen Larsa in one of the videos recently! Yet they likely haven’t fully researched Cave’s whole bullet hell franchise…
It’s certainly easy that these might be their opinion on which is the hardest, so I won’t judge them for it. However, the facts themselves hides within the deepest reaches of gaming itself.
As strange as I might sound to you all, I hold the answers to bosses beyond even these.
Ever heard of bosses so absurdly insanely difficult that they were once thought of impossible over many years? There’s more out there than you can possibly imagine, especially in the games you might find in arcades. Dedication and determination like none other is required to stand up to some of the mysterious challengers I speak of, especially when you want to beat it without continues in a run.
Now’s the time I share with you all a boss that really deserves number 1 across all top boss lists: Inbachi from the original Dodonpachi Saidaioujou (Made by Cave)
This boss is a SECRET secret true last boss that’s remained unbeaten for over a decade straight in a full 1cc run so far since 2012. Not 1 person has beaten it in the full run yet although someone in particular is getting very close.
To summon it, you need to do the following:
Beat the whole game without dying once, without using a single bomb, getting all of the hidden bee collectibles in the game, have an absurdly high HIT counter, AND having a high enough hyper rank which increases the bullet speed depending on how high it is. All of those in 1 full 1cc run just to get it to appear.
The fight itself, it’s best shown in video than in words, but I’ll try to explain it in some detail:
Normally in bullet hell games the bullets move at manageable speeds yet the patterns can be REALLY dense. However this boss in particular has a very fast default bullet velocity no matter what you set it to and is incredibly dense regardless! A few attacks Inbachi has can even separate the strong from the weak meaning some attacks are easier faster and harder denser and vice versa. The 4th attack she has is just absurd, even a TAS could struggle to that attack due to the sheer density AND bullet speed the attack has. Inbachi even has a shield to your bombs and hypers if you use them, even enraging in the process speeding up the bullet velocity even more! The final phase literally tells you to die as you’ll somehow HAVE to endure through an endless barrage of an attack that stumped even champion shmup players for a decade straight with the limiting resources available!
I know all of this is a lot to process, but take my word for some of the details mentioned here and you’ll soon see what I mean.
Chaos Elflis from Kirby and the forgotten land
Glad to see Ozma featured. A boss so terrifying even Hades commends you for killing it.
Yeah and they didn't even mention you have to do even more side quests just to be able to melee attack him. I beat him a long time ago but it legit felt ike rng to survive the meteor and not get 1 shot lol. Took many many tries
Took forever to beat this damn guy, I had to spam Dragon's Crest and focus on everyone else healing and being near trance@@Kalkodo
@@ryandavid1277 yeah if I remember right I think I finally won by getting him low enough to where he had to keep healing and that felt like it stopped him from casting more meteors, gratz on your kill!
@@Kalkodo good job on your kill too!
He was relatively easy to kill in the newer edition that steam and PS4/5 uses. I got to the final area and fought the enemy that counters your attacks with virus breath. When three of my party members were virused, I grinded off enemies and was able to quickly grind to the high 90s with my set party. Literally took me an hour to do that. I also made a save before I did this grinding in order to keep it at a weaker level for the final boss. Ozma didn't stand a chance when I had one character each that can get hit by his Lvl techniques.
If you don't want to grind, here is my recommendation since that's harder to do on the original PS1 version. Make sure one of your members doesn't absorb darkness. Three can absorb it if possible but AT LEAST ONE must not absorb it. Ozma is the only intelligent boss in that game who will not use a spell that doesn't work. This is why it's also nice to have one party member with a level multiple of 4 and 5 but try to make sure it's not both such as 60 being multiples of both. That way, Ozma will use Lvl 4 Holy and Lvl 5 Death. While insta death sucks, it's slow enough that you can technically ready up a quick revive on the same party member to quickly bring them back. Also, Ozma using these skills is much preferred to him using Mini , Curse (sorta like Bad Breath) or healing itself for 9999. You can also make a character immune to Holy (not absorb) that would get hit by Lvl 4 Holy and that means it's just a wasted attack but Lvl 4 holy isn't that painful unless you're really low leveled.
Please do the Friendly Monsters sidequest. Doing so not only allows you to target Ozma with physical attacks, but it also makes him weak to Shadow. Not normally a big deal but he can use Doomsday which hits EVERYONE for massive shadow damage. Again, make sure at least one member of your party is immune but doesn't absorb this.
For parties, I used Zidane, Steiner, Quina, and Amarant. Quina for Blue Magic, Steiner and Zidane (thievery anyone) for ridiculous damage, and Amarant for his monk abilities such as revive and chakra which restores a good bit of MP to characters plus Amarant isn't bad attacking either. Ozma sucked to fight my first time but became much easier. I'd still rank him as the most difficult bosses of the FFs I have beaten (4, 8, 9, 10, 12 zodiac, 15, and 16). Never completed 15 but I did beat the final boss then called it a day on that game lol.
"No matter how hard or how painful. They never gave up. They kept fighting because they believed they could overcome someday! Isn't that right Kainé?!" - Emil
The hidden Noob Saibot boss fight in Mortal Kombat nine was absolutely brutal. From what I hear Reptile is as well, but I’ve never been able to get two flawless victories and a stage fatality to unlock it.
I hate to break it to you but he’s a joke compared to Kaiser Knuckle’s General fight!
It's really easy if you get Jonny cage or Sonya blade they don't block the leg sweep as much as other characters 😅
Awh man, flashback to ‘Noob Sainbot Wins’ just flashed at me from 20+ years ago
YOZORA DESERVES A SPOT
The Radiance from Hollow Knight should be on here. Just getting all the requirements to unlock it is ridiculously hard as you have to get through the White Palace level, which is undisputedly the hardest platforming level in the entire game! Then once you get to the damn thing, you find out the boss is a bonafide nightmare to go up against!
She can cast multiple laser beams and spike bullet hell attacks at the same time, and at one point you have to dodge these attacks while on small platforms that you can easily fall off of! The Radiance killed me WAY more times and took me a good deal longer to beat than Malenia!
And DON'T even get me started on the harder and faster Absolute Radiance version that you fight at the end of a 40 fight boss rush in another secret ending!
Was about to comment this
The Radiance is an easy fight though. It's the Absolute Radiance at the end of the 5th pantheon that is incredibly hard.
Absolute Radiance is a nightmare. The fact that you have to fight her at the end of one of the longest boss rushes in gaming makes it even worse.
@@shadysorkin9214 I didn’t find the original Radiance fight easy in the slightest! It took me 6 whole hours to beat it! The Absolute Radiance has taken me even longer and I STILL haven’t beaten it!
That 40 boss rush is total pain for me. Because that i never get platinum trophies😢
A few more mentions:
1. Mold-1 in Control
2. Red in Pokemon gen 2
3. The Enduring in Horizon Forbidden West
4. Sans in Undertale
5. Charon in Hades
Inner Agent 3 and the secret fights in mk9
Red is easy.
@@raquansingleton1549 Not if you walk up to him under-leveled, as many do.
@@925263I'm not sure I'd call it easy, but Red's type disadvantages aren't difficult either.
6. Crawmerax in Borderlands
How come everytime I see a list like this no one EVER puts Yozora on it? The man himself puts everyone on this list to shame with the 1st phase of his fight alone 😂
Malenia shits on Yozora. Not even close.
I suppose that most of reviewers or content creator just can't go through all data battles
Yup, him, Sepiroth, Vergil where the real guys at
Also:
Lingering Will
Mysterious Figure
Honourable mention at least Weiss
@@borbafattnah yozora is harder
Galdera from Octopath traveler 2, should be on this list. A battle that takes 1-2 hours after beating 8 previous bosses and if you die it's back to the start.
I was looking for this comment
Yeah, I went in after completing every optional dungeon, mastering all jobs, getting the best gear, using my best team. After days of trying, figuring out its patterns, coming out with strategies, I finally took out that damn eye and popped out of my chair....... Only to find out there's a second phase with my totally unprepared and underleveled team. I'm still grinding for that fight to this day
Man the soulsborne ganes have absolute brutal hidden bosses....also the optional weapon fights in ff7 are super tough which are also kind if hidden if you dont know how to fight them
Not surprised to see Lingering Will, Rodin, and Ozma on this list.
The hardest secret boss I encountered was Ballos from Cave Story. Oh yeah, that was a huge challenge for me but defeating him was so satisfying.
honestly, the hardest secret boss for me is Crawmerax from Borderlands
Cave story's true ending just too gimmick to get. I hate it.
Lingering Will - Kingdom Hearts II: Final Mix
Yozora - Kingdom Hearts III: ReMind
Omega Weapon - Final Fantasy VIII
Sephiroth - Kingdom Hearts
Demon of Hatred - Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Malenia - Elden Ring
Darkeater Midir - Dark Souls III
Night Terror - Soul Calibur III
Faust - Legend of Dragoon
Charon - Hades
I fought Lingering Will on Critical the first time. Ended up having to grind 25 levels to get to the mid 90s and finally managed to squeak by...
It took me 2 or 3 tries and at least one half an hour to figure out how to beat him and I want to say this Sephiroth is easy compared to this boss.
I cheesed Lingering Will with negative combos, so basically every other attack was a stun. Not exactly fair, but I don't care
2:45
Lavenza in P5 Royal is leaps and bounds harder than the Twins, since you can muscle your way through the twins with the right DLC persona. No such luck with Lavenza.
So cool to see culex on this list love super Mario RPG. I feel like he's not super hard still awesome. Septherorh from his kingdom hearts appearance isn't one here. Or ruby weapon from ff7
Consider Armored Core Last Raven, the very very last Boss once you've completed absolutely all missions. Only then you get to battle the very OP'd completed version of The Pulverizer.
Everything I saw about Malenia had me thinking she was a main story boss fight
Same
She's at the end of an enormous optional area you get to through another enormous optional area lmao
Well, she has the lore of a main character (and some hellish difficulty)
@@Someonewhoexists-nw1pjI liked Elden Ring, but Malenia to me was indicative of what was wrong with that game. She would have been a phenomenal boss if she was in Sekiro, but in a game with antiquated combat like this she was not even remotely fun to fight. Elden Ring had a lot of good ideas but poor execution in my opinion. But then, I'm one of the few who thinks Sekiro is superior in almost every way.
@@georgen5882i had fun fighting her even though she beat my ass lol
Imagine not putting yozora in this
Coming from someone who put 100s of attempts on sephiroth in the first KH, I didn’t even dare to attempt Yozora in KH3. Shit looks crazy.
Or Mysterious Figure
@@theelementalphoenix5549 yozora is super hard but fair... mysterious figure is just poor game design
Considering there’s a way to cheese the lingering will fight yozora has moved ahead of him as far as hardest secret boss in the series
No one cares 😂
Sephiroth - Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2 his One-Hit Kills & AOE attacks make these encounters the toughest in the games.
Hes not even close. Especially in the sequel. Hes rather easy compared to others. Hell demyx is harder than him. Lingering Will takes the cake if you do not know the setup.
@@zachariahsmith9130ehh I still have a harder time with kh1 sephiroth and yozora. Lingering will fight isn’t too bad.
@@AlphaKittyBody KH1 Sephiroth heavily depends on which version of the game you play. In the ps2 version the leaf bracer ability doesn't exist, while in the updated versions in does.
Zodiark from FF12 probably deserves a spot. You could die just trying to get to him. Plus his opener was a potential party wiper forcing you to already start swapping party members which pretty much meant the end of that try.
Wasn’t there a boss in that game that SE kept altering to make it unbeatable, only stopping when someone almost died marathoning it?
@@billybobjoe1335 that was in FF11 I think. Absolute Virtue. People were taking almost a day to try and beat it and were vomiting and almost dying so they eventually nerfed it.
I was surprised that Zodiark wasn't mentioned on the list.
@@Torsar_ I had friends in the LS that took him down for the first time, took them almost 20 hrs, it was brutal.
@@davefoster7704 thats some determination damn. I start to fidget after an hour in a WoW raid lol.
How do y'all manage to never put Yozora on these kinds of lists is beyond me
I think it’s cause Yozora isn’t a secret boss you just unlock the fight by playing the game normally yea he was fucking brutal but not a secret
@@slydog2678he is a secret boss, you have to beat the other 13 super bosses to unlock him which not many people can do or will even attempt cause there’s no indication you’ll unlock another boss after it
@@canontheory I see where you’re trying to come from but the thing is you buy the dlc your fight all the bosses that are in the dlc as one would how hard they are doesn’t matter the point being they are just bosses you’re supposed to fight and your reward for fighting them is just another even harder boss to fight I wouldn’t call that a secret cause it’s not hidden you don’t have to do anything special to get him
@@slydog2678how is malenia secret?
@@Donrickytheonlyone That’s not a real question
Most secret of the hard bosses award goes to Hirata estate Owl from Sekiro, motherfucker was hidden so fucking well idk how the players even managed to find him for the tirst time☠️
Demon of hatred, Sekiro. A true nightmare.
I wasn’t aware the P5 Royal twins are that hard since they are post game challenge along fighting former protagonists but i believe The Reaper deserves honorable mention for ALWAYS being A MENACE even on EASY mode.
If we talk about "Secret Bosses" in Elden Ring, I believe DRAGONLORD PLACIDUSAX would fit more in this description because the game does not actually tells you in a straight way what you need to do to access this boss. Malenia however, you can find her at the end of Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree and there's no block or side quest that needs to be done to unlock her. Yes, she's the most difficult boss in the game but cannot consider as secret
i disagree, while placidusax is definitely more hidden than malenia, the area that you can access his boss room is mandatory for completing the game, whereas malenia’s is not. you literally have to go out of your way to get two halves of a secret medallion and complete a puzzle just to access her optional area.
Yes, same with Midir instead of the nameless king
I agree with you on Placi. Malenia is the final boss of a dungeon, albeit optional one. Placi gave me the hardest time finding him, plus you have to go to a certain spot that isn’t obvious at all and lay down to activate him.
Culex was a pain. So was Ruby Weapon without cheesing. But Sephiroth on Kingdom Hearts PS2 is the hardest optional boss I’ve faced (they nerfed it in later editions)
Inner Agent 3 from Splatoon 2 was also a tough one
You putting Nameless King when he took me 1 try but Sister Friede over here taking me a month .
Magician Faust in Legend of Dragoon!
The Twins, Justine and Caroline, are both one of THE Toughest Video Game Bosses I've ever seen from *Persona 5.* Those two definitely don't mess around. They're one tough Cookies.
Really? I beat them on my second attempt
Yeah but their "true form" in Royal is another level 😭
@@ramiobeid2889 sure
@@LawPoppy I did. I had Satanael and Yoshitsune with me. Just kept buffing my party and hitting like a truck.
I beat the first try.. I always thought the reaper from p5royal was harder
Yozora from Kingdom Hearts 3 should have been on this list, WTF watchmojo! Replace Lingering Will with Yozora and put Lingering Will as an Honorable Mention
Yozora isn't a secret boss battle.
@@Leamax33he is a secret boss, the requirements are you have to beat the 13 optional super bosses that only unlock after beating the post game dlc and since is no indicator that you’ll get anything for it and the fact it’s incredibly difficult most people don’t attempt it not knowing another boss is locked beyond beating them which makes him a secret
Pretty good list.
I think Persona 5 Royal secret boss Lavenza is harder, you have to defeat caroline and justine first before you face her and then you have to use a certain order of attacks and ailments to proceed ir she kills you instantly
Secret Kirby Bosses: Are we jokes to you?!
Actually yes. A solid chunk of players beat those!
Can you do a video on wizard101 for the area of grizzleheim because it's really hard to get through there.
Lawrence, the first Vicar
Lindwyrm in Final Fantasy 12!! That was a frustrating fight. He could kill you in one hit. 😊
These bosses are hell of a Madness that causes my fingers to be slained!
The Amon family in the Yakuza franchise
For Ozma, both meteor and curse can 1 shot your entire party with absolutely nothing you can do to stop it (and yes, he can use them extremely frequently if you are unlucky and sometimes begins the fight by casting Meteor before you can do anything.). Ozma also casts other problematic spells like death which can easily cause you to wipe after tanking a curse or meteor. Also, Ozma inflicts all kinds of annoying and problematic status effects as well like berserk. All of his offensive spells do very heavy damage as well. All around easily one of the hardest bosses in video games, very much deserving of a spot on this list.
Good video! But… no Abyssion from Tales Of Symphonia???? 😳
Honestly Culex is not even that hard to beat especially if you use Peach equipped with Lazy shell and Safety ring then all damage dealt to her by any enemy is always 1 or misses 90% of the time. If anything I’m surprised none of the Tales of series secret bosses, Star ocean till the end of time secret boss, and Penace from FFX weren’t on the list.
oh yea, i would put tales of arise's Zephyr
I agree. Culex is more of an endurance than anything else.
Namless King? lol Black Dragon Kalameet and Midir were a far tougher fight
I know of bosses WAY beyond those leagues.
Lingering Will & Mysterious Figure (Terra Route). Still the Most Nightmare Secret Boss in History of JRPG Games
Yozora not being #1 is crazy
I don know if they are secret bosses, but the advanced class "gods" from Octopath Traveler were so hard. The Starseer gave me the most trouble. I know it isnt very popular, but M-DEUS from Tokyo Mirage Sessions was hard too. You have to pretty much have your party up to level 99 and all their weapons maxed out and moveset and abilities maxed out to have a chance.
Also, the music while you're talking is kind of distracting.
Saying that "Culex" is a "hard secret boss" is a HUGE understatement. Half the difficulty is even finding said boss in the first place. The other half is in the fight itself since the bastard hits like a fucking tank unless you're properly equipped. There is a decent payoff of 244 EXP for taking him down, but that's only good if you haven't maxed out the levels on your party members yet. Best way to go into this fight is to have Mario equipped with the Lazy Shell weapon, the Super Suit, and the Attack Scarf while having Peach to heal and have her equipped with the Safety Ring so she doesn't get affected by a majority of the attacks so she can heal with either Bowser or Geno taking up the third spot. Which ever one you choose had better be equipped with their strongest weapon and armor as well as having a means to ward off status effects, such as the Safety Badge. Also bring plenty of Pick-Me-Ups, which is Super Mario RPG's equivalent to Phoenix Downs/Mega Phoenix, and some KeroKeroCola in case you exhaust Flower Points during the fight.
Devil Survivor Overclock's secret boss Lucifer. Three phases of absolute BS, changing resistances, and at the start of each turn, massive damage AOE to everyone.
And of course, The Demon of Hatred
One of the hardest bosses i battle was kat kraydel in Yokai watch 2
Daimon from Dragon's Dogma is still in my nightmares.
Of these bosses, I’ve only fought Culex. But, I’ve beaten him two or three times.
Gladiator Orion in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was a nightmare
I still don't get why people put in these tops any Kh boss except Yozora, I think nobody played the dlc
Hey WatchMojo, I talked about one side quest boss in your list of "Top 10 Hardest Side Quests in Video Games." I talked about facing Deadshot in "Batman: Arkham Origins" and it's a lengthy description of the difficulties you have to face while fighting him. Trust me, in that game, he's a very hard side boss. You might want to check out what I said in that comment of that video, and see for yourself how hard he is in that game.
He wasn't that hard. The only hardest part was, to sneak on him as the last attack.
@@johnnykend5728 Well, I do think he wasn't super hard to attack at first, but only at first, for I found the more health you need to make him lose, the harder it is to defeat him, since the more health you make him lose, the smaller an area he explores, and the harder it is to get to him without his men noticing you. I do agree the last part was super hard, and that might be the hardest part.
@@johnseelinger9803 Idk man, i beat'em all up and then I went to beat Deadshot, when he was targeting a hostage, since he was left all alone.
Man Bass GS in Mega Man Battle Network 3 was super hard man.
I have vanquished these foes on the PS3 or on the PS4 or on the switch like Lingering Will Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix and Nameless King Dark Souls 3 to be the hardest
Arcana heart 3 - Parace L'sia
now you know true despair.
Nameless king gave me sleepless nights. I am surprised Orphan of Kos is not on this list … except I missed it
I like how quickly Mario RPG secret bosses have joined the videos all thanks to the remake. I mean had there not been a remake I bet we wouldn’t have seen or heard about this boss.
Don’t get me wrong i love the game and beat it originally when it came out but nothing in that game is tough. It’s all about talking about relevant topics like the remake coming. 🙂
so no abyssion from tales of symphonia or nebillim from tales of abyss or the spiral draco from tales of vesperia?
Here's an idea for a future video: *top ten weirdly good TH-cam animations. Basically TH-cam videos that are...questionable but have admittedly good animations.*
sekiro Demon of hatered
There is also Bonetail from Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door. But believe it or not, I actually beat Bonetail before I faced the Shadow Queen during my last play of that game.
9:46 that's literally the sound of the elephant in Tomba 2. 😂😂😂
How about demon of hatred or young father owl from sekiro?
what about owl father in hirata state? the fight is definitely hidden, you have to do specific things to unlock the fight and it's one of the hardest fights in sekiro. Probably top 3 with sword saint isshin and demon of hatred.
Why is the Beserker King never in these lists, he was much harder than Gna
I agree, he was terrible. But I guess hes found on one of the most important side quests of the game, so I dont know if that counts as “secret Boss”. Great fight tho!
True

I’m so glad that EVEN with two fromsoft games on here, AND Ozma, who was just ridiculous, the Demi-fiend remains the OG choice of suicidal, masochistic players. I mean, he kicked Satan out of Hell, after all.
Malenia was optional?! Took me an evening even getting to her from that damn assassin town.
Def was not optional
I got two suggestions.
Morgan freeman from South Park the fractured but whole.
And Sin from Final fantasy, I remember every attack Sin did dealt 999 points to every member of my team.

Ruby Weapon from Final Fantasy 2
from all games I played my number one is easily Galdera. (yes I saw what some people did to him. still working on it tho.)
One word: Inbachi

Jevil and spamton neo from deltarune are really hard tho
i wish Kats Kraydel was here. Really, really hard fight
I would’ve also added the demon of hatred from Sekiro shadows die twice
kabuto fight in ultimate ninja storm was also pretty hard
Culex is awesome however if you just either level high and or put the turtle shell on peach. She takes 1 damage which mage her optional strong with her frying pan. Shes no joke.
Culex is trivial with the right party comp. Mario with Lazy Shell weapon, Geno, and Peach with Lazy Shell armor completely break the game.
Let me know how hard Culex is in the Super Mario RPG remake
Surprised anyone remembered demifiend
I got super lucky and beat Malenia first try, but I never wanna fight her again
Wait, what!? How!? Well, congrats!
I got my but kick by almost all that boses, Emil was a nice fight at level 99 is harder also, like the Amusement Park Rabbit is a hard fight below 99 level.
