Thanks a lot with your walk throughs...I am a solo player (don't have many friends in Washington to play board games). But due to your videos, I bought Mage Knight and you opened my eyes to Pathfinder once again.
Fantastic video. I love your enthusiasm! You really relay the flavor of the fantasy setting so well. I have Pathfinder but it was just sitting on my shelf. Im definitely playing tomorrow thanks again.
Something to keep in mind about the game, is that is is designed as a higher level view of the adventure. Rather than deal with each individual monster or trap in inventive and tactical ways, this takes an overall snapshot of all the encounters faced in a story. Games like Descent, the D&D board games, etc, are those tactical "feet on the ground" simulators. Think of it like fantasy football. You aren't actually playing the sport, but you are taking an organizational view on the actions of the team, and using your players skills to the best advantage. Then, you reconfigure your team between game to take advantage of new stats and situations. As always, excellent videos, and I thanks you for all your efforts!
Nice part 2. I agree with you that you need to add a bit of imagination as the cards come out or else it becomes a rather dry run. I also think the game is more suited to solitaire play than multiplayer. But just my opinion. The best part of the game for me was keeping my eye on long term gains, like certain items or spots where I might be able to pick up special items to use in future runs. Also when setting up the location decks, I deal by type: i.e. 1st all obstacles, then all monsters
I was also thinking of doing the LOTR one but because I would be starting so far behind the starter costs would get high to try and maintain the game from it's inception. I'm a great LOTR fan so the theme would especially benefit me but I am enjoying Pathfinder.
Haha! How do you shuffle Scott ? I never sleeve my cards. A riffle shuffle keeps the cards clean and a wash shuffle for the location decks works nice. If my son gets hold of my cards they get all beat up and dirty.. hands off my Pathfinder !!
Can't wait to get this one started. However, given how you shuffle cards, I'm almost tempted to call shenanigans on you actually having played this game before. Those cards aren't durable at all, and yet yours seem completely pristine. So, how did you manage that?
Right now the game is shelved, but we have not dismissed the possibility of coming back to it with different characters. I already have the next adventure pack preordered :)
Very different. LOTRs is a lot tougher and more advanced in game-play, with more card interactions. Pathfinder is more light-weight and is really more of a "push-your-luck" game than the deep strategy of LOTRs.
LOTR base set has a lot of play in it, and if you wish to get expansions, go for just Khazad-Dum and/or Heirs of Numenor. You can skip the adventure packs and saga expansions. Ultimately, I think LoTR has more replay value, even with just the base and these two expansions. With Pathfinder, time will tell....
Axel Murciélago thanks! Yes, you can find an RC playlist on my channel... it's for the 1st edition english Portal version. hope you enjoy the series ! Rick

My daughter and I have played through the first two adventures already and greatly enjoyed it. I hope you do too, Rick!
Thanks Stasia. Do you shelve it after completing , or are you tempted to try again with different characters ?

I love your video series mate thank you. you have clarified some rules for me too
man, the setup is crazy long for this game.

How does this compare to LOTR LCG? My wife and I currently play that. This looks interesting but I am not sure if we would have the time to play both.
