As a Lions fan, this was fun to watch. Just like Dan Campbell, going for it on every 4th down LOL. Never thought I would be watching sega genesis game play from the 90's in 2024. I had this one as a kid and came here to just to hear the into theme music. Nostalgic!
Madden 97 and 98 were the last two Genesis games I got. I was still getting Genesis games this late because my mother was trying to break me out of gaming, so I didn't get the PS1/N64 or Saturn when the 4th generation eneded but eventually by Spring 98 she relented and got me a PS1. So this video was a fun little trip back.
One day in 7th grade (1997-1998), a science teacher took a poll in the classroom, N64 vs. PlayStation. I was flabbergasted. I was still playing Genesis, and there was nothing wrong with my Genesis. I saw the newer consoles here and there, and the controllers had way too many buttons, too. Of course, by 1998 I had a PlayStation--at my mom's house--I still played Genesis at my dad's house until he and my stepmom got a house and suddenly there was no space for my Genesis.
You could also get Madden 97 for PS1, and it would have been much more impressive at the time, but I just find this smoother and nicer. Maybe for Madden 98 the choice is clearer because the PS1 version had improved further and clearly got a lot of love while the 16-bit versions were basically roster updates with broken menu music. But I don't think 3D is automatically better than 2D, which has its own unique charm.
Fully agree, I have a real fondness for the 2D era even to this day. I also still find modern Madden fun to play as well so I think I might just like football.
@@sports_fix I played a bit of Madden 10 (PS2) recently, so that's the most recent Madden I've played...I didn't really get hooked by the gameplay the way 2K5 did for me, but the graphics are so good and I enjoyed setting up CPU vs CPU games to play in the background while I cleaned my room.
They need like a remake in this era like a side game in a current madden maybe i kinda upset i never got into this but nhl 97 for the fights and road rash never left the console
I remember thinking “it can’t get more realistic than this”
Then you saw the Playstation Madden '97 and completely forgot about it. I know I did.
HE'LL REMEMBER THAT NUMBER
Some retro goodness, thanks for the trip down memory lane😉
rip john madden
And Pat Summerall
My first madden game

I remember playing madden 89. I'm truly old😄
Man this game still hits. Im about to dust off the Genesis!
Remembering those EA Sports cartridges on the Genesis were different than the regular Genesis carts. 😮
yeah they manufactured their own carts to not pay the licensing fee I'm pretty sure is the story

Thx for sharing. Great memories mate
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wish these games were still playable but with online leaderboards.

A classic collection would go so hard, I would put hundreds of hours in lol
