Madden NFL 98 (SNES)

While not exactly the Thanksgiving Day game but close enough! Also I couldn't pass on using the Lions for just such an occasion. (I also wanted a reason to use Barry Sanders and I was running out of seasons to make it happen). The SNES and Genesis versions of 98 were actually handled by THQ while the PS1 and Saturn were done by EA. While heaps of praise went to the EA versions I cannot give the same praise to the THQ versions. It is basically the same as 97 but plays much more sluggish and sounds terrible I dont know what THQ did to the audio but it sounds so much worse than 97. If you want to play 98 stick to the PS1 or Saturn versions and play 97 if you are on SNES.

Man, the SNES packed some 16 bit horsepower over the Genesis. Graphics are similar, but looks like EA was able to fit more detail into this version. The some field detail, end zone team logo, the fans and banners, and Touchdown celebrations.

The THQ Madden 98 has this weird slowdown on long plays. I think to simulate fatigue but it just makes the game look like its struggling. Combo that with some jank celebration animations and that's the result lol
