Your new friends are very clever and entrepreneurial/venturous. I see you doing at least the shower curtain, but with parachute fabric. ;-) And the rip cord to open the backdoor from the inside. That's if you don't fall in love with the Storyteller Overland Basic Mode, Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 van. ;-)
@@30AndAWakeUp I searched Google, because I get carried away. I found Paragear and Joann. Ripstop Nylon Fabric 59'' Solids from Joann. And the parachute fabric page from Paragear. Pretty expensive compared to normal shower curtain fabric.
Although I did like some of the mods that they made there is no way I am letting my wife see this video! She will want some of those and then I will have to find a way to do them but I am a perfectionist so every change would be agonizing for me. I love our Travato the way it is an want to keep it pristine. Why? Because I know I will want a newer model in a couple of year so best to keep it original. Actually it is hard enough just to keep everything in the Travato together. For instance our shroud around the van was cracking at one of the screw holes. A few months back I took it down to inspect it and see about ordering a replacement. Everything up there looked fine. Now a couple of months later I am ready to install it and when I took the shroud down I found that there is a leak in the fan area. I found slightly damp wood and it was turning black on the driver side front edge. (be sure to check yours this may be common) Also I noticed that the fan is not centered in the hole so it is too close to one side of the trim around it. Now I have to take out the fan and reseal it. Our Travato is 1.5 years old and has 8k miles.
haha....you're the first to catch that. I didn't even realize it was backwards when I did it. I must have had that setting already in my thumbnail setting. Good catch.
They really did make the bathroom more usable, and a great set-up for the beach. Will have to remember that bike water bottle holder idea, the shoe storage, and garbage magnet. Thanks for sharing! 🚐

The bungie netting in the overhead cabinets is a great idea. I always have electronics and chargers fall out when I open mine lol The bicycle holders for soap dispensers is genius level thinking, great stuff!
Love the mods - cabinets to match their needs, bike bottle holders, use of magnets - both trash can and curtain weights. Great adaption for the shower curtain, and as they were demonstrating it, thought od a further mod. Instead of a single U shaped rail with both curtains joining at back, consider 2 L shape rails overlapping in back. Then, instead of having to bull each curtain arouns and secure, the overlapping rails next to each other would allow the curtains to naturally overlap 6" or so, creating a dry rear. Also liked the squeegee.
That's cool. BUT I definitely thought of how your OCD was kicking in your psyche thinking of your own rig being this "lived in" and what you must have thought LoL my own rig (I have a TT) and it's lived in too 😉 I love their ingenuity! Great idea with the bike rack bottle holders. I may steal that one!!! 💜

Really creative mods, especially the bathroom. I would go with a different material for the shower curtain and make it opaque but that’s me. Creative storage solutions but a little too cluttered for me. I think the goal in a van should be to minimize the amount of stuff instead of seeing how much you can cram into a small space . To each his own though. If they feel they need everything they carry at least they’ve found a way to store it all. This guy is pretty handy.
We actually changed the curtain since we did this video. The clear was great fir demonstration purposes. The back closet was the first thing I worked on because we frequent the beaches here in Florida and just wanted a better way to carry beach items without being in the way. But then we realized how much more room we had in that closet space. It’s unbelievable that WBGO didn’t utilize that space better.

Perfect! I really prefer the 59KL layout but know I will need more freezer space, so I've contemplated if adding a Dometic portable fridge/freezer would solve the issue. Nice to actually see someone who has made that work.

I’m glad you enjoyed it some of the things are not that difficult. I actually taught Cora how to use a small drill gun and screw those magnets and hooks. She went screw crazy! Lol! The closet will need a handy person with a little (not much) experience to accomplish.

I love how they made it work for them, and Travato took some notes as they now have a shower curtain track and a pull handle for the rear passenger door. I also wondered where you could put beach umbrellas and folding chairs in there. Now Travato has put the water system in there so not sure if it would work to cut into the cabinet. Great mods, thanks for sharing!
why not just make the whole back area waterproof? I like the build, dont get me wrong - thoughtful and well constructed, but it might be easier to just eliminate the curtains all together...
i can't believe winnebago didn't just make that whole back end, including the door, totally sealed and waterproof. why should you need a curtain at all!
Most of what they did I do not like at all. Your van always looks so neat and organized and what they did makes it too cluttered. And losing the wardrobe and drawers is unthinkable to me. I simply added a clamshell style box on the roof rack to get a large storage bin. Also, who wants to enter through the front doors. However, we do have the same floorplan on ours and I have been looking for a way to turn the worthless stationary vertical tables that get in the way and are a hassle, into swivel arm like the Lagun tables that use the floor mounts we have and can swing into the empty space in front of or over the passenger side bed and as extended counter space over the foot of the drivers side bed. And his idea might be adaptable to our type of floor mounts.

I’m glad you enjoyed it some of the things are not that difficult. I actually taught Cora how to use a small drill gun and screw those magnets and hooks. She went screw crazy! Lol! The closet will need a handy person with a little (not much) experience to accomplish.

I love how they made it work for them, and Travato took some notes as they now have a shower curtain track and a pull handle for the rear passenger door. I also wondered where you could put beach umbrellas and folding chairs in there. Now Travato has put the water system in there so not sure if it would work to cut into the cabinet. Great mods, thanks for sharing!

why not just make the whole back area waterproof? I like the build, dont get me wrong - thoughtful and well constructed, but it might be easier to just eliminate the curtains all together...

i can't believe winnebago didn't just make that whole back end, including the door, totally sealed and waterproof. why should you need a curtain at all!

Most of what they did I do not like at all. Your van always looks so neat and organized and what they did makes it too cluttered. And losing the wardrobe and drawers is unthinkable to me. I simply added a clamshell style box on the roof rack to get a large storage bin. Also, who wants to enter through the front doors.
However, we do have the same floorplan on ours and I have been looking for a way to turn the worthless stationary vertical tables that get in the way and are a hassle, into swivel arm like the Lagun tables that use the floor mounts we have and can swing into the empty space in front of or over the passenger side bed and as extended counter space over the foot of the drivers side bed. And his idea might be adaptable to our type of floor mounts.
Yeah, I think it's really about making your van fit your lifestyle. I think John and Cora's mods at least give people something to think about.
