My very kool wife recently got me the gen 3 hammer drill starter kit as a birthday gift, personally it was a long over due upgrade to replace my old Hitachi. No comparison hands down. At work my daily "driver" is the infoumas Dewalt 20v XR Max which is also a blessing as it has always lived up to its name. Had the same thing happen to me on my gen 3. I accidentally dropped it in oil and got completely submerged in oil and it does not do that anymore. Must of fixed itself. Lol
@@zanderesp4295 it is worth noting that I haven’t had any issues with the drill so far though, and I’ve definitely put it through it’s paces so they may have fixed the problem.
I’ve been using my gen 3 for a couple years now as the power source for my ice auger. It’s paired with a 12amph battery and it drill 8inch holes in 3 ft of ice without any issues. One weekend I drilled over 60 holes in 3ft of ice and even left it outside overnight in below freezing temps. It’s a beast
Gen 3 is a great drill. It’s well rounded, and defiantly for the pros. It’s not gonna be the fastest in every category, but you get a lot of power for the size. I’ve never ran into any material I couldn’t drill through, would recommend 100 percent.
My gen 3 impact driver does the same thing with nothing happening when I pull the trigger sometimes.. I like my gen 3 but my Makita XDT16 is my number 1 go too
I have gen 3 and do decks...always use it from start to finish drill half inch lag bolt holes through multiple 6x6 and 4x4 sometimes 30 in a row on blazing summer days..never has failed for even a second. one of the best tools on the jobsite
The two things that come to my mind are, 1 I don't know if that hammer drill has it or not but it may be some kind of anti-kickback because it seems to only do it when you're twisting the drill while you're pulling the trigger. 2 this is probably less likely but low-quality switches and potentiometers can stop working with the slightest amount of dirt or debris so I would try to take the drill apart and clean the switch and look for dirt in there while you're at it. I say it's unlikely because it's a power tool and should have a sealed high-quality switch but it could be some dirt from the factory, I've seen it before in brand new switches and potentiometers. These are just educated guesses, I don't own this drill personally.
I've got both drills and to be honest I find the gen 2 reliable and the abuse I put it through its amazing its still alive. The trigger on gen 3 is really weird... but thanks for pointing it out I thought I was the only one Vince that had this problem. Much respect from NEW ZEALAND
I have the gen 2 impact. My trigger has the same glitch, but I also get a glitch where it doesn't turn the right direction once you switch it. Very frustrating when being careful.
@@bearleemadeit4718 I get that sometimes on my fuel impact driver it’s very annoying when you want to reverse and end up stripping the screw instead I could probably send it back to get it fixed but it don’t happen enough for me to do that
within my first week of using gen 3 drill i knew there was an issue with the switch or a contact within drill took it back to get fixed, since then has been 100% have also had intermittent problems with my impact driver but so rarely that its not a concern did not go at first trigger pull maybe a handful of times in the year ive owned it. have not however had any issues with the collet on impact or chuck on drill
I’ve had my gen 3 for about 2 months and didn’t have any issues. I remember thinking “dang I hope mine doesn’t do that” when I watched this video last week. 2 days later I pick it up at work and sure enough it stopped working off and on then stopped every time I pulled the trigger. I tried it the next day and worked fine...
Had a brand new one delivered to me from HD & the trigger was defective internally. With a few pulls it just fell out. So I believe there's some quality control that needs be looked at it that area.
Boy I'm sure glad I caught this video. I'm a finish carpentry contractor and I had a job last week where I had to secure an aluminum threshold to the slab beneath a new entry door. Drilled three 1/4" holes about 2-1/2" deep using the hammerdrill mode.....no problem. A little while later picked up the drill (2706-20, second generation), pulled the trigger.... nothing. Had to drill other holes in slab with a conventional drill/driver (no hammerdrill mode). This took forever (wasted time). Took the drill to the local Milwaukee service center, pulled the trigger in front of the tech,,,,again nothing, pulled the trigger again and the drill fired right up. I can't have tools where I have to guess as to whether it's going to function or not, so I was willing to buy the third generation 2806-20 just to put the issue behind me. Very disappointing to see you're having the identical problem. The drill is still under warranty so I called Milwaukee and they said send it in....more wasted time (and money). Very Frustrating
I'm sure it's fine if your using it for what Milwaukee intended. The problem I had was that I used the gen. 2 for two years mixing drywall mud, floor leveler, smaller batches of concrete and mortar, etc. Never had an issue with it. The gen. 3 didn't last a week doing that sort of work before the gearbox grenaded itself. Of course to be fair that's well beyond the intended use of the tool and Milwaukee will tell you that, but the fact is the gen. 2 did it just fine with it, as did my older Makita, and a coworker's Multivolt that I've used a number of times. The small size is clearly a trade off for some robustness, which some will be fine with, but Id personally rather have a much more durable, marginally larger tool.
I had mine (gen 3) warrantied a few weeks ago for that intermittent switch. I used the e service to have it fixed. Intermittent switch/no power was an option to choose in the drop down menu when asked what issues it was having. Very easy warranty process. Turn around was around a week and a half.
At my company, we have gone through 5 of the gen 3s. Each one only lasted less than 5 months. Each one had different issues. From seized motors to bad switches. We have had our gen 2s in the field for many years with no issues. All in all, they are still nice drills because we have other gen 3s that have worked flawlessly. Milwaukee was great and fixed or replaced our bad drills.
Love my Gen 3, amazing power but also stops when big bit catches. I think that your trigger might be related to accelerometer that trips when it catches. Trigger seemed to not work when your drill had motion.
Love my milwaukee tools. Does it run hotter then my gen 2 yes. But never had smoke because the gen 3 has an overheat safety. I did trigger that once. But in the drills defense I was using a 17.5 inch by 1 inch auger bit to drill 10 inch deep holes in a stump. A task my gen 1 could NOT complete by even an inch and a half. So summary is it generates more heat but much more power. The more power it uses the more heat it creates .simple enough. But milwaukee knows this and thats what all that fancy schmancy red link smart tec is for, to preserve your rools by allowing them to cool down to safe operating temps. BTW love you guys at VCG
I’ve had my gen 3 set for several months now. Super happy with the operation. I will admit, I had to exchange my hammer drill, brand new, because the chuck wobble was insane. Took it in, showed them the wobble. Gave me a fresh drill. Night and day. It happens with every brand I’m sure, but I’m happy with the drill.
I bought it at Home Depot. Before I took it in I asked Milwaukee on messenger if they could do anything about it. I didn’t wait for the reply. Took it in later the same day and they exchanged it.
I only had it for a couple days I think. Took the receipt and they sent me to the tool rental area so they can check it out. Ran it up for a second and they said yeh, take it to the front and they’ll let you exchange it. Easy peasy.
@@andrewiida3802 may be that you are right. I mostly do metal work, so my drills get hard work but not nearly as much as a woodworker would get out of it. But when I need a hole I need a hole! 2nd gear failed on my 3rd gen after a year of heavy heavy use but milwaukee fixef it for free and were back in action deff my favorite handheld drill/hammer drill
Had mine for 2 years and the drill and impact are both beasts and haven't had any problems! I have had the glitch every now and then, but it is so infrequent that I'm not worried. If anything, the drill needs some sort of kickback control because it's got so much power!
No no no.... that would ruin the tool! I hate it when I'm trying to mix something in a bucket and the dang tool shuts itself off cuz it senses the load. Soooooo irritating!
a week ago i just bought a brand new gen 3 hammer drill m18 onep2d so happy about it first time buying any milwaukee tools or any other powertools. but i bought after your video guidance,
I also have the Gen1 and replaced it with the Gen3 because of that same trigger switch issue. I opened the drill case on my Gen1 and realized that the forward/reverse switch was full of dust and debris. After cleaning I had no issues of trigger failure for a long time. When it reoccured I opened it again only to find the forward/reverse switch dirty again. I'm no Milwaukee service expert but I believe that is where the issue is.
I heard that there is a gyro incorporated inside the tool as safety feature that disengages the tool when a sudden jerk is felt in case you snag on a nail while drilling. Hopefully that's the case. 🙏

Vince I have Milwaukee drill I bought in 2016 had all kinds of Chuck problems took them to their service center here they replaced the chucks several times so finally had me send them to Milwaukee directly and they sent me 6 new ones in 2017 and I haven’t had any problems since but they didn’t tell me what they did.
I have to drill a lot of holes for conduits and have noticed the gen 3 heats up very quickly, other then that I have had no problems will have to try it with the handle next time and see if that helps
I have the Gen 3 Drill, M18 Brushless Drill and the M12 Gen 2 Hammer Drill and 6 impact drivers from Milwaukee. I use to be Dewalt guy after purchasing the Atomic kit and the new a Dewalt 998 Drill. Switch to Milwaukee because of your videos. Now I have 31 Milwaukee tools... “Let’s go baby”...😊😊😊🤣🤣🤣
The non-operating switch happens on my 2853 impact driver just as illustrated at 8:00, in addition to collet issue, so I sent it to Milwaukee to be repaired.
I have the Gen 3. Whenever I drill tile I don't use the handle, the tool gets too hot to press on the back of it so it becomes a real nuisance. It also has less power than the DeWalt.
milwaukee is not the only brand that has trigger issues...dewalt had it too...i belive jimmy's recip saw had a trigger issue as well and i have seen it happen on makita more than once and ridgid too....as far as it running hot...not a big deal because all of the drills made by TTI have thermal protection....not like dewalt...they will burn up and we have seen it many times...let it run hot...it will keep running until the thermal overload shuts it down
Thermal protection is bad. It makes the tool lock up. Any sane person can tell when a tool is getting hot and can run the tool with no load, letting the fan cool everything down.
@@cm01 that's your opinion...i would rather have the tool shut down and keep working when it cools off compared to burning up motors then you have to buy a new tool if its out of warranty
@@kingofthecrease30 its not really an opinion, the tool is objectively and measurably strained more when it gets that hot and then can't be cooled by its fan. you have the same problem with me, my Gen3 hammer drill sometime not working when I hold my trigger like what you did in this video (at 7:58). For somehow, it does not do its operation. This is big problem from Milwaukee, they are my favorite brand.
I have a gen 3 driver and never got any issue you mention with it. But under high work load it heats up so much I can barely hold it even with my working gloves on,so I must stop for a minute or so to make it cool down so I can keep up working with it
My drill and impact driver does the trigger thing. I've found a lot of times, the forward/reverse switch got pushed over a tiny tiny bit causing it to not activate, but it's not far enough to lock the trigger
I just bought the 1/4 hexagon impact wrench and now the Hammer Drill you just showed and haven’t put them through the paces yet but look forward to using them over the spring and summer months. Love your TH-cam channel BTW.
I'm a die-hard Milwaukee guy however the gen 3 hammer drill has let me down 4 times in 18 months. Two Chuck's failed in different ways....one had a bad board and one went up in smoke. My gen 2 is running strong as well as my old brushed unit. The one I have now seems to be pretty good other than a sticky trigger. Seems like some of the fuel tools have weird problems.
I have gone through maybe 4 or 5 DeWalt hammer drills and I'm still on my 1st Milwaukee hammer drill. I have 9.0 battery so I affectionately call it my "1/2 ton 1/2 inch". Works awesome. Always. One of the guys I worked with/for burned out his two DeWalts drilling a sill plate after encountering an anchor. Handed him my Milwaukee and he was through in a couple of minutes even with a burned up hole saw. Might be heavier, but, for me, it's well worth it. Makes the job go quick.
I bought this online and when I opened it I was upset cause of the size so I went to TH-cam to check it out n now I’m hype can’t wait to use it at work
I just got this drill and the only problem that it has is that with any drill bit that I put on it wobbles.. I don’t know if you are experiencing the same problem as me!!!....before I buy any tool I watch your videos .. really good content
Hey brother! I’m still rocking my Gen 1!! I don’t even know how many years old it is! I use it everyday as I’m an electrical contractor and have my own business. I’m talking I still drill out houses with this thing! With long auger bits 7/8” and 3/4” wide and drilling Thousands of 6” holes in drywall for recess cans! Drills are amazing! It is starting to get a little loose in I can start to feel some flexing in the handle when under big load, so might have to get a new one soon but I don’t think this ones ever going to quit!!!
Hey Vince, I just completed an installation of 2 fitness rigs. Had to drill 56 3 inch holes in concrete to anchor these 2 units down. I have the Gen 2 hammer drill. I was concerned that it might not make it through all of it and didn't want it to fail in the middle so I borrowed a rotary hammer. In your opinion would you take a gen 2 or gen 3 for this type of job? I anticipate having more of these large installs in the future and will have to purchase a drill to handle the job. My gen 2 has never failed me. Thanks Steve
The Gen 3 hammer drill is amazing. Only had it a couple months but it has completely impressed me. But I was coming from a Porter Cable so there was plenty of room to improve. Picked up the combo with the Surge impact driver; love that too.
I have had the gen 3 since black friday. Since then I have not had any issues. Never has the trigger glitched. Nor have I felt it get really hot. But i dont have to work my tools as hard as other people. But I have loved my milwaukee fuel tools...
I've had both the Makita and Milwaukee impact drill driver set. Sold the milwuakee mostly because of the impact Chuck and trigger problems. Plus Makita has a better faster charger included in their set in my opinion. But the drill was okay. Edit: I love their automotive power tools and innovation. I'm not being a hater just honest :p
Makita all the way for me. Have got about 20 odd tools and only had a problem with a drill chuck the whole time, 6+ years. Go hard on the tools as well.
I just had to switch to Milwaukee after my 5th makita hammer drill I give up on makita drills they absolutely suck but it's only the drills that suck everything else I haven't been able to kill no matter what i did but the drills i constantly got smoking then would spin again
Waz up Vince. I’ve returned 4 of the gen 3 Fuel hammer drills with the same issue. Plus the forward/reverse selector switch stuck on several of them. Made it difficult to depress the trigger. It was very annoying. I’m pretty sure Milwaukee thought I was crazy. Keep up the good work!
I too have had a trigger issue with my Gen 3 Hammer Drill. I thought it was the battery connection, but it's so hard to duplicate on demand (though, congrats on catching it in your video) that I never determined the cause. I'm afraid that if I send it back to Milwaukee, they'll try it, it'll work, and they'll just send it back. Best case would be for them to discover what the problem is and do a recall or offer to fix all our drills. Other than the trigger, it's an incredible tool.
I recently got the gen 3. I had the issues too. What I noticed is that the forward reverse switch can be depressed just enough not slide to the middle. But cut the power to the motar.
I have a gen 2 that runs really hot but hasn't stopped working yet. I've had the trigger issue on several Milwaukee tools. Also, my impact driver's thrust bearing on the chuck went out and im trying to find the receipt to send it in.
I am a huge Milwaukee fan and own well over 20 of their tools and I have never had a problem with a single one of them. I don't own this drill however I got one for a friend for his birthday and it kept stalling out just drilling a half inch hole into wood in 1st gear and 2nd gear. Is this a common problem problem or do you think it's defective? Because I find it hard to believe that a high end Milwaukee drill would stall out drilling into wood when my older Gen5x Ridgid has no problem performing the same task. The speed on it also seemed kind of slow like it should have been spinning at a higher rpm.
Yeah my gen 3 tripped me out a couple times. Does same thing. Never let me down. Other guys used my drills over other brands while we built our new shop for my job at the city. Milwaukee was and is golden. And my drills are awesome.
I have the 2nd gen Hammer drill and I love it! I have used it for everything and abused it. Yet it keeps going. I did have the chuck start getting stuck, but Milwaukee fixed it under warranty. I will always buy their tools! Edit: The electric clutch is awesome! No parts to wear out. Edit2: I have experienced that same glitch with my Gen 2. Taking the battery out and reinserting it solves the issue.
@@conraddean5051 Totally agree. I am a bit of a tool hoe and have Milwaukee, Default, Bosch, Hitachi & Makita. By far my favorite is the M12 Milwaukee gear.
I have a gen 3 and after about a week the circuit board had failed. Sent it back under warranty, got it back and I'm now having a trigger issue. I love the power of the tool. Just having a few issues.
Just sent in for repair my gen 3 impact for the dead trigger issue. Except mine requires you to remove and reinsert battery or change speed setting to work again. Also has an issue where sometimes after going from forward to reverse it will still spin forward for the first trigger pull. I am anxious to see what is going on. Otherwise it was been an awesome impact.
Yo fellas! I was using my gen 3 when this vid popped up. I've had no issues this far. I think it's a beast! Great vid as always and have a fantastic friday gentlemen!
I love my milwaukee tools, even to this day im still impressed with them. I have noticed the trigger lag before, it seems to happen often between my hammerdrill and impact for some reason. I have noticed tho that it seems to do it more often when i gradually press down the trigger. I am using full fuel lineup of gen 3 hammerdrill and impact along with sawzall and skillsaw. I work in the hvac trade and having the extra power and speed for metal working really helps. I even use some milwaukee handtools.
I bought this about two weeks ago in a two tool kit with the impack driver. I got it at the Home Depot with a case and two batteries, charger and a free 5AH battery. I've only used the impack driver and it ran so hot that I had to put down for about 15 minutes for it to cool down. It didn't smoke at all. I don't know if I should return it.
Haven't had a problem with the Gen 3 M18 hammer drill, but the M12 fuel hammer drill does the same thing, I move the reverse switch back n forth starts working again.
Is there the same issue with the 12v? Liked the video but the one thing I’d ask of Milwaukee is can we get some more Milwaukee items over in the uk? I mean toolboxes and the right angle impact would be cool
@vcg construction I noticed when you had the tools side by side. The gen 3 between the chuck and the Milwaukee name there a hammer picture is smaller and on the gen 2 it's larger. Something small I noticed.
I have a gen 3. I’ve swapped 3 different ones at Home Depot because the trigger keeps catching on something internally. Like when you go to pull the trigger it feels like it locked but it’s fully in fwd or rev. Once in a while I’ve also had the dead trigger issue. This weekend I went to use my gen 3 in rev and it kept locking on me and I had to keep pushing the selector to make sure it was fully in rev but the slightest movement and it locked up
Vince I know you have done a review on the Milwaukee hole dozer before. But what about a head to head with the Spyder hole saw and the Milwaukee. Lowes seems to be pushing the Spyder heavy in my area right now.
I'm not sure if mine has been an updated version of the Gen 3, I got it last year with the hydraulic impact driver. I can not replicate the same problem he has with the trigger. I also did not ever notice an overheating issue. It has been used to mix concrete, paint, drill into concrete and Hardie board, on a worksite with 3 220+ lb gorillas, etc. The only problem I think I've ever had with it was with the direction switch where if I didn't push it ALL THE WAY it wouldn't start and remained locked. That wore in after a month and a half and have not had a problem since. Also how on earth does Vance keep his tool so clean and new looking??
I've got the gen II. I'm not sure if this is the same for other Milwaukee drills but my drill chuck occasionally gets locked up on my bit. I wind up having to take it to a small vise with light pressure to get it to release. Too hard by hand
I've had this problem with multiple older tools with one particular 5.0 battery I have. I'm convinced it's the battery. It's never happened with any other non 5.0 battery and with this one it's happened on multiple tools: 9 year old hammer drill, circular saw and sawzall. Same experience as you. Random cases where pulling the trigger and no response.
I've had the gen3 for about a year and have had 2 issues with it. It does run hot for me and repeatedly shuts down. I use a lot of big 5-6 inch hole saws. The other issue is the trigger. It's in forward and i can't squeeze the trigger. It won't go in. I have to click from forward to reverse repeatedly to make it work. Love all my other Milwaukee tools.
Is it not a safety feature to protect the drill? The grinder does the same thing if u press the paddle trigger quickly and takes a few moments to run again when you press again
Hey Vinc. I have a gen 3 and i figured put the trigger issue. I think its a surge protector. When i press down hard/ fast it dosent start. But when i let on easy it just goes no problem. I also have a similar issue on my gen 3 impact aswell.

I like my gen 3 but my Makita XDT16 is my number 1 go too
electronic clutch?
I have gen 3 and do decks...always use it from start to finish drill half inch lag bolt holes through multiple 6x6 and 4x4 sometimes 30 in a row on blazing summer days..never has failed for even a second. one of the best tools on the jobsite
I have Gen 3. I've not noticed any problems at this point. Best hammer drill/driver I've ever owned.
Oh yeah bro , I just got mine and I feel its well with it .
The two things that come to my mind are,
1 I don't know if that hammer drill has it or not but it may be some kind of anti-kickback because it seems to only do it when you're twisting the drill while you're pulling the trigger.
I have the Gen 2, it's among one of my favourite tools. I came across the "trigger glitch" a few times but that's about it.
I have the gen 2 impact. My trigger has the same glitch, but I also get a glitch where it doesn't turn the right direction once you switch it. Very frustrating when being careful.
@@bearleemadeit4718 I get that sometimes on my fuel impact driver it’s very annoying when you want to reverse and end up stripping the screw instead I could probably send it back to get it fixed but it don’t happen enough for me to do that
@@J4D97 unfortunately I bought mine second hand so don't have the receipt. :/
within my first week of using gen 3 drill i knew there was an issue with the switch or a contact within drill took it back to get fixed, since then has been 100%
have also had intermittent problems with my impact driver but so rarely that its not a concern did not go at first trigger pull maybe a handful of times in the year ive owned it.
have not however had any issues with the collet on impact or chuck on drill
I picked up my gen2 a while ago on sale, and it's been a beast for me. I've drilled countless holes with it and it's never failed me
I'm sure it's fine if your using it for what Milwaukee intended.
I have the same issue with the trigger on the gen 3 impact driver.
My company work one does that aswell. I think it's a safety of some sort.
I had mine (gen 3) warrantied a few weeks ago for that intermittent switch. I used the e service to have it fixed. Intermittent switch/no power was an option to choose in the drop down menu when asked what issues it was having. Very easy warranty process. Turn around was around a week and a half.
Was that warranty with Milwaukee or the store?
At my company, we have gone through 5 of the gen 3s. Each one only lasted less than 5 months. Each one had different issues. From seized motors to bad switches. We have had our gen 2s in the field for many years with no issues. All in all, they are still nice drills because we have other gen 3s that have worked flawlessly. Milwaukee was great and fixed or replaced our bad drills.
If you had all those issues...it can't be a great tool. I love Milwaukie brand tools, but if you have 1 issue....you have 1 issue too many
I have the gen 3 for roughly a year or more. I use it daily. Still works awesome
Where did you take it in?
Yea the wobble on mine is pretty crazy too, it is my first Milwaukee so I didn’t know what to think...where do I exchange it 🧐
I bought it at Home Depot.
Easy peasy.
So great to help people that don't know. I've had a dewalt do that same trigger thing back in the day.
I have gen 1 from 5 years ago! Never had an issue.
pointedspider if you have a drill longer than 2 years, you aren’t using it enough.
@@andrewiida3802 I use it to drill! And that all!

This is not a problem. It is normal to lock if it is sudden. The function is called Anti-kickback. It is based on a gyroscopic sensor inserted in the machine.
It detects the sudden rotation of the machine, a phenomenon similar to the blockage of a drill in the material, and has the role of interrupting the power supply of the machine to protect the user during work from a possible recoil.
It can be disabled from the OneKey app.
Also from the application you can change the sensitivity of this function:

It's on a slow compression of the trigger. It's a safety feature to keep it from being triggered in a bag/toolbox if not locked.
I heard that there is a gyro incorporated inside the tool as safety feature that disengages the tool when a sudden jerk is felt in case you snag on a nail while drilling. Hopefully that's the case. 🙏

Mine done this straight out the box. Common issue with em. Same as the chucks letting go
I own a gen 3 and I love it. Previously I bought a gen 2 and this was smoking right off the box. Both of them One Key.
It’s a faulty switch. Common issue. I recently sent it for repair and they replaced the switch and works fine since.
Thank you for explaining the use of the handle. I appreciate it
Vince I have Milwaukee drill I bought in 2016 had all kinds of Chuck problems took them to their service center here they replaced the chucks several times so finally had me send them to Milwaukee directly and they sent me 6 new ones in 2017 and I haven’t had any problems since but they didn’t tell me what they did.
It’s good to hear that they’re standing behind their tools Fred, thanks!
I was Dewalt 28v for the last 10 yrs and finally jumped to Milwaukee m18.
The gen3 drill is awesome and I'm a forever Milwaukee guy from now on...
I never knew dewalt made a 28v line of tools
someone is full of shit...
I have the Gen 3. Whenever I drill tile I don't use the handle, the tool gets too hot to press on the back of it so it becomes a real nuisance. It also has less power than the DeWalt.
milwaukee is not the only brand that has trigger issues...dewalt had it too...i belive jimmy's recip saw had a trigger issue as well and i have seen it happen on makita more than once and ridgid too....as far as it running hot...not a big deal because all of the drills made by TTI have thermal protection....not like dewalt...they will burn up and we have seen it many times...let it run hot...it will keep running until the thermal overload shuts it down
Yeah my gen 3 hammer drill has trigger issues and i think my gen 3 impact might too
Thermal protection is bad. It makes the tool lock up. Any sane person can tell when a tool is getting hot and can run the tool with no load, letting the fan cool everything down.
U mix electronics with power tools and shit like this is bound to happen!
Thermal protection is a misnomer, it doesn't protect the tool from heat. It protects it from incompetent operators. Or if you prefer, it protect's incompetent operators from themselves.
The weird trigger issue you’re having has happened to me on a different Milwaukee drill if the forward and reverse switch isn’t all the way over
It seems to happen in the impacts. Have that issue on 2 or 3 of mine so far. But fixed under warranty
Is it possible, to be a glitch with the one key software?

you have the same problem with me, my Gen3 hammer drill sometime not working when I hold my trigger like what you did in this video (at 7:58).
Hello
I have had the trigger failure a couple of times on a 3 months old medium use Gen3 Hammer Drill.
I still love it though.
I bought this online and when I opened it I was upset cause of the size so I went to TH-cam to check it out n now I’m hype can’t wait to use it at work
I've also had the tool not respond when the trigger was pulled with my Gen3 maybe a total of 5xs in the last year.
I love my gen 3 kit. Feel like i've had the same issue regarding the switch on my impact driver but its never bothered me.
Just picked this up last week. Impressed so far
I really like mine. Use it mostly for drilling small holes in concrete. Small being 5/32 to 3/16. With a good bit I never have an issue.
I'm a 65 yr old grandmother of 4 and I love using that Gen 3 hammer drill with my "special" attachments.
Thanks for the feedback! 👍🏻
I bought the gen 2 set off a clearance rack last summer about a year ago never had any issues with the hammer drill or the impact driver.
Lucky. Milwaukee in Australia only cover chucks for three months. What a effin' rip.

Yo fellas! I was using my gen 3 when this vid popped up. I've had no issues this far. I think it's a beast! Great vid as always and have a fantastic friday gentlemen!
Mine the trigger keeps getting stuck! I always have to push the forward button in slightly
My Gen 3 did the trigger glitch at first but after having it a year now, it doesn't seem to do it anymore. I will try to recreate it.
My gen 3 impact and drill both did that a little bit in the beginning but I've had it a year now and it hasn't done it since.
I two use the gen3 hammer drill. I did notice the problems with the click but it never failed me! Its a top quality machine👌🏼
Love all my other Milwaukee tools.
yea same i have the gen 3 too and have the same problem with trigger dosnt happen alot but still love the tool and its got so much power
