A real one, a great rocker. He & Jim perfect cuz Jimmys smooth & pretty, yet theyre both same, kismet. They're so darling together too✌️💪🤙
WTF! I have been a Crowe’s fan a long time. How have I missed this? This was flat out jamming. Simply awesome by everyone. Bonham would have even been impressed with the drumming and. Wow.
Two things stand out here, the quality of the recording (outstanding) and the drummer, Wow. He is powerful and rock solid. At first, I was kind of scratching my head about the 3 guitar lineup and I'm sure they talked about it a lot. However, after listening to a few live tracks its clear they sound more like the album tracks because they can produce more guitar parts. I think it is powerful and sounds pretty damn good.
Jimmy used 2-3 separate guitar tracks on aLOT of Zeppelin songs so, the Black Crowes stepped up & were able to better capture the particulars sonics of those killer original Led Zep tunes!
Agreed, excellent drumming w/out trying to be Bonzo, in fact, if his drums were tuned a little more accurately to Bonham's, that would be eerie. Steve can really play his own style and be effective recording anything.
Incredible!!! The Black Crowes at their best doing justice to Led Zeplin along with the master Jimmy Page! How about that drummer??? He is out of this world!!
You know, I really loved these guys, but this performance showed me exactly how much the Robinson Bros. are going to miss Steve Gorman on this next tour. A fantastic and very underrated drummer who deserved better than he got from those cats. I can see why Page liked him so much. Steve was solid as a rock. The bros. (I can not call them "The Black Crowes" at this point) are playing my hometown of Salt Lake City In the summer of 2020 and I will not be attending, nor will I attend any future shows. Without the man who was the driving force on the drum kit for twenty seven years, it is just nothing more than a nostalgia trip, with two guys and some hired mercenaries. I'd rather indulge in my Black Crowes nostalgia by listening to Three Snakes or Southern Harmony and hear the band the way they were in their glory days. With Steve and with old, weird Ed Harsch (R.I.P).
There were many shows where Led Zeppelin sounded amazingly better than anyone else, but on some of their shows, there were people screwing with their equipment. There was a music war going on back then. Have you ever seen videos where Jimmy is squinting while trying to play a solo? It's because he realized that someone screwed with his settings and he was struggling to get the sounds out of his guitar. NOBODY sounds good if the amp settings are not right. I don't care who it is!
They only need Jimmy. The '73 concert and how the west was won shows proves that. Let me screw with anyone's amp settings and I can cause them not to sound good. Take Joe Satriani and let me mess up his amp settings. As great as he is, he'd sound like shit and people would be saying he sucks. The settings makes or breaks the show!
Why?? Genius?? Almighty. Incredible?? Done. Wow. Unbelievable. You knew what you guys were doing. Rogan apearance? The surprise. Well done. Incredible.
I was just listening to this on the album and came here to check that it really was Chris singing. First, I thought perhaps I'd misread and it was Plant instead of Page. Between his singing and Steve's drumming, they really are channeling Led Zeppelin here.
I'm a huge Jimmy Page fan - his Outrider show in Chicago is still my favorite concert ever. When i saw him on this tour, he was still the focus, of course - but I was really impressed with the Black Crowes drummer. I didn't know anything about him, and still don't...but he really put all he had into these shows, and I really appreciated it. Nobody can compare to Bonham, but the dude was really trying, and he had some skills, for sure...
This is far and beyond my absolute favorite DMB song!! And being a longtime avid fan of their music since I first heard them on the radio back in the early nineties and love every single song I have heard, this song for some reason has always struck me musically as well as lyrically. The music, the melody and the rhythm are impressive to me as a musician and those lyrics have such a profound meaning to me because I grew up in a very fervently conservative Southern Baptist family and in a small rural town in northeast Arkansas and I never could make myself believe in any of those divisive and demeaning religious notions about folks who I knew were kind, loving, caring, and compassionate people who were always being treated like they were demonic and deserved eternal torture for the simple reason of just being who they were. And that unjustified and blind hatred never made sense to me. Long story short, when Dave sings that third verse about coming up with his own god and throwing his own tea party, that went straight to my inner core of basic human decency and morality.
