      I have thought for years that LZ needed a rhythm guitarist in the band to add those extra guitar parts for their live shows. Rhythm guitar add the HARMONY needed to support the progressionsions that propel the music. Those parts are on the recordings, but they're impossible for Jimmy to play while playing the lead parts. You can hear how THIN the live recordings are compared to their studio recordings without the other guitar parts.

    • @JU5TINPDX
      @JU5TINPDX 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Agreed, it’s a beautiful relationship… a virtuoso and their instrument. I saw Page and Plant in 1998, I was only 17 but I knew I was seeing two legends, but I didn’t realize at the time that a third legend was in Jimmy’s hands almost the entire show. That 59’ LP sunburst is probably the most valuable electric guitar on this planet. Even without any relation to Page or any other rock star it’s worth high 6 figures, even 1 million+… but the fact that it was the number one weapon for the bulk of the ultimate guitar god’s career… yeah $$$$$

      interesting thought experiment..I am not sure which one I would like to own..probably the ‘59 Les Paul just bc of its attachment to Joe Walsh and of course Jimmy Page..I would suggest that Page’s no. 1 would fetch close to $2M if the right baby boomer was interested..that is the thing..not sure the younger generations appreciate vintage guitars bc of the lack of guitar driven music today..but unfortunately time will tell…

      Yes i heard some of pre Jimmy's pre studio recording for this song, its amazing how he laired all it down, managed so well to set it together. But also the rhythm section killed it as always. Bonzo and JPJ still are to me the greatest rhythm section in rock n roll. It sounds so natural, organic. Zeppelin, The Who and Yes are the only bands i ve known of that rhythm sections were always feeding from each other instrument in the band rather than following its pattern, brilliant!!

      I don’t know, I like Robert plant a lot but i think Chris Robinson is tied vocal talent wise, I mean plant can hit those high notes a lot better but chris Robinson’s voice has more body and is more so influenced by soul music. And however gifted he is at playing, his true genius lies in conception. He actually thought of this shit. It’s like how many people can play parts of Beethoven’s 9th, but Beethoven wrote that complex shit. How do things like that even come out of a persons mind? It’s a level of genius far beyond my understanding. I’m happy to just sit back in ignorant bliss, and listen!

    NO other US band could pull this off !! Jimmy Page knew he was catching the right band with a KILLER lead singer !!
    ~~ Saw them twice & they left it all out on the stage. GREAT SHOWS
    I was lucky enough to meet Jimmy Page @ a hotel in NJ after a show (was looking a little "TORN N FRAYED") expected nothing less :)

    The thing about Zeppelin is that over the course of your fandom (mine has lasted 40+ years) is that your favorite song / album will change. I was hooked when I heard Whole Lotta Love, like a lot of you, I’m sure. But then came Tangerine, Friends, Gallows Pole, Ten Years Gone, In the Light, etc. It’s not just hero worship, they really earned it. Just my two cents. Loved Jimmy’s layered guitar orchestra on the studio version.

    No disrespect to Led Zeppelin, but this is THE defining performance of Ten Years Gone. One of the greatest, most poignant songs ever written. Page & The Crowes elevated this song into the ether. Just a masterwork performance. Absolutely tops.

      James Patrick Harris mainly because of the choice of the Les Paul over the Tele. the b bender is cool but it doesn't have the depth of the Les Paul plus he had two other guitarists. I also would rather JPJ play that 3 necked guitar whatever it was

    • @acdczeppelinhalen1
      @acdczeppelinhalen1 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yeah I was going to say the Les Paul here adds so much more depth. I like Fenders, but the can be a bit thin for certain things. The opening sounds soooo much better with the thicker tone.
