No breeders and one dated af local fish store where I live. Bought their sick fish, medicated, bred, already selling them back to the store. Boom. Thanks these vids help a lot.
Where to buy your guppies? You missed one. There is this guy. What was his name now? Oh ya! It's the guy who runs that channel. Michael's fish room. lol
Good you just taught me 2 things... 1 what to look for in a pregnant Guppy... 2 ( Kalling ) I think that's how you spell it.. the removal of deformed fish from the colony..
Michael's Fish Room yep in 44 gal brute trash bins, my water change reservoirs. I have to add baking soda, calcium chloride and Epsom salts then I have to use dry ferts. It sucks having such pure water. I used to just use my tapwater plain when I started out and my fish were always sick or died, guppies didn't reproduce or had small batches of fry that usually didn't survive, shrimp wouldn't grow/die when they attempt to moult, snails shells disintegrated into nothing and plants simply did not grow. Now, everything's fine the way I do it pre-mixing for more proper water chemistry and going how one would expect.
Hello Michael, i have a question for a master breeder like you. Guppies as they get older they tent to slow down fry production. At what age do you stop using the females for production and replace them?
Hi Michael. What's the dimensions L/H/W of the 10 gallons tanks you have please? Also no problem when they breed and get to crowded in there? I like your videos keeps me relaxed and forget about everything else,,keep it like that, many thanks julian 👌
I have a question about those wire racks behind you at the beginning: I bought a set very similar to that for a 20 and a 10, but then I saw a video at Creative Pet Keeping in which the corner support on one shelf failed, and she suddenly had a 20-long at about a 20 degree angle. Kind of gave me pause. You put a lot of tanks on yours: have you ever had any problems with the racks?
For almost a year I had 3 10G )Less than 300 lbs) ( per shelf and one 20g per shelf (top one) I think the box said they can hold 800 lbs. I never had an issue. The same types of racks are used commercially and I have used them before. The only time i saw a "bracket" fail was installation error. Not saying it couldn't happen........
My guppies breed in 8.0 PH but they're also in a saltwater pond so I have to keep my ph on the high side. I noticed in saltwater they have on average 50-60 fry rather than the 30ish in freshwater.
being where you are, do you ship to Indiana? as next year I;ll be looking for some new strain nothing fancy nothing expensive the cheap the better for what I'm doing just getting into the hobby myself so I'd like to expand a new strain.
@@MichaelsFishRoom you were searching for a financial term in the video and I think you meant. Return on investment. You have higher roi with flakes than frozen.

I placed an order with that guy just yesterday! Ha
Cost prohibitive?
Cost-to-benefit ratio?
Love your work man. You make me laugh.
thanks gem of a video my guppys just had fry so this video is perfect
Congrats!

Culling, a necessary evil!
You're pretty cool. Mine breed in 8.2. I have to keep it like that with baking soda to get some KH because my tapwater is no different than RO.
So you mix everything before doing a WC?

Glad you got it figured out! If my water was like that I wouldn't be in the hobby!
I’ll have to stop by next time I go to Atlantic City and scoop up some fish from you.
Yeah man, let me know!
Hello Michael, i have a question for a master breeder like you. Guppies as they get older they tent to slow down fry production. At what age do you stop using the females for production and replace them?
It depends on so many factors, but for sure by 2 years.

Hi Julian, they are standard 10G tanks. 20" x 10" x 12"

I like your setup bro
Nice work
Always informative with a touch of humour, thanks!
Just a touch....like a dab or pinch.
Hey awesome video, what are those guppies called on the left? 3:46
Time stamp?
Good Video Michael... IFGA Breeders often speak of setting up multiple tanks for each line. How many tanks per line do you use?
Not enough!

I live in South Jersey and I'm curious about your tap water? Do you know the parameters? Do you do local pick-up?
7.2 PH moderately hard water. We can meet at at a local WaWa. You can order on my website and and choose “no shipping, will pick up”
@@MichaelsFishRoom Thanks....sounds good.
could a 1 gallon quarantine tank be viable for gups and other smol dudes? i live in an apartment and cant have a whole heap of tanks :(
I would be concerned over measuring meds and water quality, but it can be down.
I know you had a tank of Endlers at one time, did they also get a gravity spot? How young can your guppies start to breed? Sorry for quizzing you. 🐡
I had endlers, sold them, yes they will have a gravid spot and about 2 months.
Now this is my kind of video! Keep it up dude!
LOL
I noticed your tanks have no heaters. Do you just heat the room to a set temp?
No heat in the room now. It stays about 72-75 naturally
Nice! Thanks!
Great info as always Sir and thank you 😁

Any good stores though cause shipping is really expensive
You can try the Aquarium Center, but they are very expensive
how do u heat up all those tank in the winter?
I heat the room....
I live in north jersey anyway we can meet in the middle since I am up by high point
Sorry, I can ship or you can meet near me.
Can I give my guppies frozen bloodworms help breed them to encourage them
Yup
Thanks I didn't know that I'm trying to breed my guppies
Would you ever crossbreed your bluegrass and black pandas
Nope
Why?
Why nope or why cross?
Do I need a heater.
For what?
@@MichaelsFishRoom sorry, for a guppy tank?
Because I have one and it seems a bit warm. I live CT and have central air, so the temperature is always going up and down.
