I enjoyed this video!! Guppies are one of my FAVORITE fish. I have been studying them for years now and am still learning. Some important tips when it comes to breeding: 1)Females like a lot of natural growing greens for their babies. I make 1/2 of my tank thick with a variety of growing plants. 2)Females like to have as much high quality food as they want. I feed high-protein granules for guppies. 3)Females like to have a few girl buddies in the tank with them even if the other girls are not pregnant. Preferably no boys. 4)When my female starts to have her young, she isolates herself into the plants. I offer small snacks if she eats the snacks. She usually does. It helps with contractions and to not eat the babies. Last night I fed about 12 little meals while she had her 30+ babies over the course of hours. I am careful not to disturb her. I first feed her buddies at the other side so they won't race over to momma and take hers, lol. 5)When the babies start coming, I lift gently them out with a small cup and/or turkey baster, if it does not disturb the mom. CAUTION: turkey basters work great however the baby will often drop to the bottom of the baster quickly. Have a cup right there to put them into it. If the baby is high up in the turkey baster, I put my finger on the bottom of the baster to stop the water going out. Just watch for the baby. I have enough water in the cup so the baby won't hit her/his self when landing. I put ALL the babies together is a small container with a few plants. They feel safe together. Guppies are very sensitive and can get easily stressed. Mine have had a lot of babies and I just wanted to share what I have learned.😊
i feel you with the high protein food for females, but especially before birth. when my girls are pregnant, i always feed them mosquito larvae/brineshrimp the days before the birth. im gonna try keeping some other female fish with the next pregnant fish i get in her birthing tank so thanks for that tip 💕
He's right about the lights. Never turn them off totally. I have LED lighting which can be dimmed or the color changed.I usually go from white to blue for nighttime. This goes for all aquaria, not just guppy tanks. Lovely fish, btw. (Jan Griffiths).
Hey, warn bro that his shelf is about to collapse with all those tanks on it. It needs middle support. Look at the water lines on each side of the middle of it lol
Nick I'm coming to see your talk at the Pascoe County aquarium society in February. I hope you bring some of your bug buffet with you. I'd love to try it! See you soon.
Mollies and guppies are the most easiest for me. these were the first ones I bred in my tank in 2011 when I got the tank. There was a game Fish tycoon where you breed and sold fish I got the tank after that game play in my laptop. :D
With the floating basket in the tank, was the female put in the basket to give birth or did the fry swim in as they were born? It looked like the small fry were able to swim in and out through the holes in the basket. Would you leave the fry in the basket for a week before moving to a grow out tub/tank or move staight away to a smaller container like the birthing one you showed? Re water changes, I assume you would do them daily but what percentage of water should you remove each time?
The basket in the tank is a substitute for floating plants in the tank to provide hiding space for any fry to avoid predation. I think some of the older ones that we saw in the basket, just jumped into it. They tanks with the basket allow fry to grow enough to survive getting eaten by the adults. You can remove pregnant females like they showed us into separate containers or leave them in the tanks with baskets. Try not to do daily water changes and aim for weekly water changes of 10% - 25%.
My guppies are in heavy planted tanks. They go to sleep in the floating plants on the bottom in the valis grass maybe because there are landmarks they sleep all over the tank. The first time I opened the lid a big female was upside down in the brocus plants barely in the water. I thought she was dead I poked her real light in her fat belly. Whoa she woke up splashing scared me I jumped back. I never disturb them anymore keep the lights low or off. Daylight they are up moving slow. I have ten tanks in my bedroom its so cool 2 are 5.5 gallons tanks they have my bettas in. The 8 have mostly mud guppies swordtails platies green Cory's. Nothing special but no cichlids or rainbows. Rainbows would be my next fish if I could get a four foot tank no room in here. Lol😂
The more oxygenated the water is and the more older it is the better. I kept a lot of plants with really high aeration to keep the bubbles for air exchange.
Can i please have advise on setting up in a room. I want to set up in my garage but no aircon. Can i just use big fans to keep it cooler in summer. But what about winter ?
I have male guppies but no female guppies. Do you suggest quarantining a new fish before adding it to your aquarium? If so, how do you go about doing it and for how long? Do you treat it with anything?
If you only have a fry tank and a primary tank with the adults. When can you move the fry to the primary tank without massive risk of them being eaten?
Hi I have a question on a different video you made about a year ago but it the one on the full guide on breeding bettas I don’t have bubble wrap so does duckweed work instead or no?
I have like four guppies that look like they will pop in less than a week but they get stressed or I move to early to put them in the breeder box in my fry tank
a couple of extra tips when looking to buy expensive breeding pairs of guppies don't buy off places like E-Bay or from people that use stock photo's , check your local area for breeders where you can go look at the fish, also i have issues with feeding live bearers live food as this surely stimulates their appetite to look for live food IE their new born babies?
they breed like rabbits, you REALLY dont need a walkthrough, all you really need to do is make sure you have more females (anal fin looks like a triangle) than males (anal fin looks like a stick) other wise the males could end up killing the females with the stress of near constant mating, my petstore recommends 3 females to 1 male
Some gorgeous guppies there. Shame Tasmanian laws prohibit us buying fish other than from our local pet store. And if we do breed any we aren't allowed to sell them. ☹If I thought I could, I would have shrimp in a heartbeat. But we can't import them into Tassie either. 😩

Love your visits at Nat‘s place! you guys together are perfect entertainment! I don’t even have fish …
I love the fact that you posted this video about 3 hours after my new guppy females arrived! That's perfect.
a lot of good info here. been raising guppies for 4 years now. I like his style.
Do the babies not need oxygen or filters in their bins? may sound like a silly question but I just noticed his doesnt have either and had to ask.
He is a good breeder i can tell, Awesome guppies he got!
That breeding system is simple but awesome!

Those koi guppies are terrific! Beautiful fish
Awesome video! Surprisingly wish it was longer. 👍
So many beautiful guppies! Really good work!

Can we get some love for the Kmart tanks. Such good value even all these years later with the few price increases
How to breed Guppies:
Put a male and a female in a tank.
Wait.
This came at a good time, my aunt just gave me some guppies from her pond 😅
Nick I'm coming to see your talk at the Pascoe County aquarium society in February. I hope you bring some of your bug buffet with you. I'd love to try it! See you soon.
Nat is an awesome guppy breeder , I wish I had someone😊 like him here in North America 🇺🇲
Do you have a crush?
Your content has inspired me to build my own aquarium

Nat again AWESOME!
step1: tank full of water
step :2 add guppies
step 3: figure out how to STOP constant rabbit level breeding
the mass breeding is easy..
the hard one is line breeding and select and combine strain..
7:10 Oh goodness that bendy shelf, that would cause me some serious stress. It needs a middle brace toot sweet. 😮
I’d love to see you keep and make a video on peacock gudgeons, I think you’d have a ball with breeding them
Can i please have advise on setting up in a room. I want to set up in my garage but no aircon. Can i just use big fans to keep it cooler in summer. But what about winter ?
I’m getting some guppies tomorrrw but I’m getting all males the pet store told me to start off with 4 and see how they get on
Nat is such a knowledgeable guy for guppies, who wouldn't love to pick his brains about guppies.
That man has more faith in those shelves, than I have in myself. 😂

This video really helped me I just can’t sell them I live in Canada Calgary

Do you have a link for Nats Instagram?
hi Nick, any idea when the pygmy corys will be back on your site? Id like to support your store. Thanks

I wish I was as confident on myself as he is on that bending stand

Guppies are my favorite, I used to keep some but they got sick and didn’t make it ☹️
I have like four guppies that look like they will pop in less than a week but they get stressed or I move to early to put them in the breeder box in my fry tank

It's so sad you're far away! He has beautiful fish.
Thank You For Sharing.

Can we get a walkthrough on breeding guppies like you did with the beta fish?
Step one put guppy in the tank step three profit

Wasn’t this video already posted ?
He did a tour in a previous video, but this is more in depth on the process of breeding guppies.
no this is the new
This is a different one 😊 but I think the same day
When he takes the guppies out theirs not heating system is that safe?
he is an expert!
What light does he use?
does Nat participate in guppy shows?

Very informative 😊
Best episode 😂
Great content 👌
Any tips on selective breeding?
Step one buy guppies step 2 leave guppies alone . Step 3 try and get rid of hundreds of guppies
Does he have an online shop?
So do u guys ship guppies to south Africa
Need a few of these guppies, just need a few more tanks 🤔
hi is there a ratio of male and female? or i could just get 1:1
I hear that either a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio of males to females is ideal
miss you, it's been 10 days 😏
What's the age range for guppies? Are they a short term fish ie= 1-2 years before death?
They can live up to 5 years if looked after well but logically they reproduce less.
I would love to learn how to breed fish and I love aquarium I would love to chat to you and learn some stuff off U
another upload lets gooo

Please turn the music off when your talking.
Turn on your own music, I was able to understand them better
Need a instagram name for nate?
Doing the math, guppies would be more profitable than zebra plecos
My turtle eats Guppies
Well it's natural turtles are predators 😆
Subtitles in spanish i dont speak ingish
Over the last 30 years, guppies have been bred so much that they have become a very weak species.
How to not breed guppies would be a better video.
