I enjoy these videos a lot! It's cool, when Tony talks about how he created sounds. There's a video where he samples on an emulator one and I always thought it would be great to hear or see more about how Tony designed sounds back then. So much more difficult then sampling! Wonder who decided on the intro music to the videos. Here it's - here comes a man with a face so ...... etc
i don't think it's arrogance, just single mindedness....there's a fine line but the difference is self awareness and he's always admitted he was prone to shouting loudest to get his ideas through...Phil and Mike both say he mellowed a lot through the late 80s...
Didn't he also use a vocoder in "Abacab" (about 2 min 38 sec into that song)? I used to think it was an electric guitar but he's shown using a vocoder in the music video version.
Hearing the individual parts to “This Is Love” makes me want to completely remix the song and switch the emphasis to the guitar and bring more of that rhythmic quality from the ARP. The original is nice but mixed in a safe and conventional way
Hi Tony, I am a huge Genesis fan and saw them live at Knebworth 1992 'We Can't Dance Tour' and it was my first concert. Having seen the Invisible Touch tour on DVD and the live concerts from 86\87 I loved the sound of the keyboards you used on that tour and overall the band did sound amazing and would like to ask you if you think the older keyboards and tech sounded better back then as I felt the tours from the early 80s to 86/87 the band's sound was really at it's best and having listened to a lot of audio concerts of the Three Sides Live tour and the Mama tour and especially the Invisible Touch Tour. The quality of the sound of the keyboards and even drums sounded great.
I'll never understand why Tony insists on doubling the voice line so explicitly with another in an already overloaded pile of keyboards. It's here in "This is Love," "Undertow," and so many other tracks. It always felt to me as though he nails the singer's shoe to the floor with one hand and crowds out room for other instruments with the other.
hi tony , i use to have an arp omni 1 and a korg vocoder , i just could not afford an arp quadra but now i will have the cherry audio arp qudra for 39 bucks , this is amazing ...
My undisputed nº1 keyboard player and influence!! The King of Chords :)
Sounds like 80s reggae. Brilliant!
This is brilliant - please more “Classic Albums” type breakdown of tracks!!!
tony banks autobiography should be called "I was told to do this, but I didn't, so there you go"
Love hearing Tony in conversation. Thanks also to Nick and all at Cherry Red! 🍒
Yeah, these are a real treat!
You enjoy hearing "pretentiousness on Parade?" Is that right?
Tony Banks songs writing is at the very top, hard to match for anyone. This guy is a genius ! Tony was Genesis
Bullshit! Not when "They Were a 5 Piece Band!" Get over your giggling self!
Tony with his keyboards is the main sound of Genesis!

Wow, "This is love" sounds much more powerful with a more prominent guitar. This begs for a remix!
so, you think that Tony will mix a guitar at the same level of his keys? no way !!
@@napomania Exactly! No way! Banks is one of the more arrogant jerks in mainstream "Rock history."

In the music vid of this is love it was a prophet 10
Dig that song. Something very ominous, yet youthful about it.

I also have nightmares where i hear random voices and screams...
One time i heard...
"WAS IT YOU OR WAS IT ME?
OR WAS IT HE OR SHE?
WHO DUNNIT?"
That song is traditionally considered "APOS" from Genesis fans this world over! Soooory!

Oh no, someone didn't like it. And we'll likely never know why...
Never mind..

How is the Cherry ARP Quadra what are your thoughts I plan on buying it
Is that Julian Lennon singing?
No, it's Tony.
In all respect, you should listen more carefully to what is said in the video😉😊
wasn't nick kershaw?
Tony sang lead on Fugitive.
Definitely Tony. If anything to me his voice has a bit of an Al Stewart quality about it.
