Tony is a true hero for the music industry from a writer, piano player & of course a synthesist for the greatest prog rock band my heroes, Genesis, I've been a fan & a follower of Genesis science 1977, I will never stop listening & trying to play on my keyboards some of the greatest songs, melodies, synth parts that they've ever produced since the late 60s through to the late 90s, not for getting, Peter, Steve, Phil, Mike, Bill, Darrel, Chester, & the Technicians for light & sound throughout the last 50+ years whom made it all possible for us to listen & enjoy for all these years, Rock on guys, you will never be forgotten.😎
@@mikedenmark The new box set does not have 5.1. A Curious Feeling, and The Fugitive were previously re-released with a DVD that has Dolby and DTS 5.1 similar to how the Genesis catalog was remixed. They are both excellent. I wish the rest of Tony's catalog was done in 5.1. Doesn't seem like that's going to happen now, but I understand why.
I've been wondering how that sound was made since the first time I heard that track in vinyl more than twenty years ago; I thought it was made using one of the the prophets, I could have never guessed a Casio home keyboard and a harmoniser were involved...
Mr. Banks - E Higgins seems to be of the belief that the new remasters are in 5.1 mix! On reading the description from Cherryred they appear to be in standard mix. Will you or anybody be so kind as to clarify this conundrum?🤔 Thanks
The 5.1 mixes are on the deluxe editions of A Curious Feeling & The Fugitive Esoteric put out in 2016 (5.1 is on a DVD component): www.cherryred.co.uk/product/the-fugitive-2-disc-hardback-deluxe-edition/
So let's get this straight young Anthony - drum machines are great because they stick to one rhythm, but drum machines are also bad - because they stick to one rhythm. Hmm.. now, we know you have a propensity for being quite perverse with your thinking sometimes, but I think even you would have to say that this beats your previous best, haha (don't worry, as a composer (in a former life, although I wrote the basis of a song last night for my son - all about his toy llama) I understand perfectly what you mean.) If I was feeling braver I'd share some links to my Soundcloud stuff (albeit in the knowledge that you likely never to view this post yourself, haha) Never mind.
I think he brought out the 'bad' element with regard to early drum machines ("particularly in those early days"). Presumably he has something up-to-date into which he can programme something more intricate and maybe even throw in other fills one way or another.
@@ambadad sure, well most decent drum machines from the 80's onwards will allow you to build 'tracks' rather than just one 'rhythm'. It's sometimes just a question of whether you can be bothered to do that or not. It's really all about how you see or hear the idea going once you have a basis for a song/piece
@@mikedenmark ICD is a basic sequenced groove from the Roland JD800 which Tony then plays live on top of using the percussion sounds from the keyboard. Good fun if you can ever get your hands on one, especially the 'ping' sound, which I believe was middle C 😊🎹
I really like "Charm" 👍 Interesting video!

Man, I like the great Tony Banks ! He looks in shape and well. Hear his voice is priceless to me. Thank you
Bloody hell, these clips are great - more please!
I've always loved how electronic and other worldly The Fugitive sounds. Gonna have to give the 5.1 a listen, thanks!

Are the new remasters in 5.1?

Thank you for that, & by the way congrats
on you ❤️ from Tony👍
I was lucky enough to get one yesterday🙌😉
@@mikedenmark thanks yeah it's pretty awesome!
Which Casio? What kind of harmonizer & drum machine pretel?
sometimes less can be more 😎 - being a drummer who also plays keys and bass, I've played along Genesis songs ever since my teenie times 😍👍🏽

Can we expect a Four piece orchestra this year?
