I WAS going to push back against the "dark humor" label, but I did spend like 10 minutes today working out the logistics for a joke about dropkicking children so...
this video really reminded me of when I played 1.7.10 with an amount of mods that eventually burnt my computer. This was peak minecraft and I myself agree with all you have to say. I was also guilty of playing the same mod packs over and over and buildcraft was a must have for the modpack. Watching this video really brings me back to when life was at it's peak. Keep making these awesome fucking videos they help me find new games and remember old ones I should replay.
The 1.12 pack is VERY nice I gotta say. Unfortunately, the buildcraft creator threw a fucking hissyfit and made all his machines incompatible with the unified power system that other developed specifically around buildcraft, so you have to deal with stupid power converters. But it's still a fun time lol
the only minecraft review ever that has mentioned the fundamental problem of how little many of the mechanics in game have nothing to do with the core gameplay that is the mine and craft
I was....i wanna say....20 when i first encountered Minecraft. It blew me away how that 3D pixel abomination was so...addictive. It was reason number 3 for upgrading my PC at the time, a single-core P4, that ran the thing....at 30fps TOPS. Also 😄
Finally someone else who plays on just 1.7 A friend told me Better Than Adventure is a good pack that gives minecraft the old feeling back but I haven't tried it. Not as packed with bloat and more simple and relaxing and not as minmaxy :)
I can’t fault you for making a review about minecraft as an excuse to gush over it. I’m the same as you, remembering this game from my youth and I’m honestly surprised by how big it’s gotten. I haven’t played it in months, probably years by now, but every time i hear Dry Hands, I can feel the blood rush to my face as I think about my past playing this stupid mining game.
I admittedly never really got into Minecraft when I was younger, but I appreciate the effort and the emotional connection you and many other people of our generation. Thank you for the video.

I almost did that at one point actually. All the footage would've just been Skyrim VR since that's the most recent version I was playing. It would've been about how the fundamental design philosophy is bad but also turning off your brain and playing an RPG on autopilot is fun

I remember being really upset when my xbox 360 glitched and set the gamma setting to max and thought my game was ruined
I played it mosty on xbox and that version had such a better inventory/crafting ui and then they made it so much worse in the bedrock version
