Definitely the best channel to start with! Funnily enough it was this channel that got me back into 40k after after a ten year hiatus!! watched their 40k tutorial video and now I have an almost 2k point list of death guard painted and waiting for a chance to play! Feel like they're one of the few channels that explains the rolls. Most channels just roll the dice and expect everyone to know the stats of every model.

I love these videos and the tournament format, but I'm sad because I don't feel like the Chaos Space Marines were done justice here. Probably should have deep striked the obliteraters and used the master of possession on them.

Another fun match! I love the arena battle damage and the paint scheme you chose for your chaos marines. Btw...Protip for anyone who buys the Chaos Space Marines start collecting box: the Obliterators can teleport strike, so don’t have to be deployed on the table turn one with a big target on their backs. They also have the Infantry keyword, so if you give them the Mark of Slaanesh they can fire twice in one shooting phase using the Endless Cacophony strategem. It hurts to see CSM knocked out of the tourney so early!!! I had them going all the way! 😭

@@jcephrie My thoughts exactly. CSM are a faction with most of their power wrapped up in stratagems and synergies, while their standalone datasheets are pretty weak. Guy literally didn't use a single stratagem besides CP reroll, lmao. He also didn't use any supplemental content like Vigilus Ablaze for better Black Legion traits and stratagems. Really annoying to see him play such softball and basically lose on purpose.
Aah, but Craftworlds have a vendetta against Slaanesh, the "Ancient Doom" special rule, so I avoided it :(
@@MidwinterMinis You could've used Grandfather's Blessings and/or Sacrifice (using Chaos Familiar) to heal and possibly resurrect an Obliterator, but those are some deep cuts for someone who doesn't play CSM as their main army.
Plus the MOP was deployed miles from the things he should’ve been buffing, for 1CP the venomcrawler could reroll all hits and wounds with daemon forged, the long bomb charge attempt into the farseer with the possessed was just silly and a waste of a reroll, and the aspiring champion has 3 attacks on the charge not 2, so could well have killed the War Walker.
And ancient doom only effects in melee, and the oblits would’ve pasted anything trying to get close if they hadn’t been thrown away turn 1.
Yeah, the chaos box has a big points advantage, and the oblits getting to double shoot would probably have ended the game there and then, but to watch a match get so obviously thrown was just depressing :/

Love both Chaos and Eldar in-game and the way you've painted them. This match was just real fun for me, happy to see another video so soon after the last deathmatch. It's always fun watching y'alls videos, and I hope you enjoy the next tournament rounds!

Thank you for a battle report that actually cares about the production. Close-ups of the battle and miniatures only from relatively fixed positions or slow pans. Fixed positions for dice rolls. No shaky handy cam that makes you feel sick. No far away shots of the players (no offence but I am interested in the game and minis not what ya'll look like). 30-45 minutes max! I wish all reports were shot this way and I appreciate the extra time you likely spend to get those shots looking good.

@@angelsantiago7712 I give him a pass on missing some special rules and not using the army as efficiently as possible because he isn't a CSM player, but I give zero pass for the deployment, movement, and decision making.
"Eldar can shoot me off the table so I will put my best shooting unit (oblits) out in the open instead of behind this wall or in reserves." No matter what kind of army you play, that's a bad idea.
"I have 10 guys with guns that could sit on my backfield OBJ, but I'm gunna put a melee unit on it." Come on, really?
Those two decisions alone were likely enough to have lost him the game. I haven't looked at a chaos codex since 6th ed and even I know those were terrible tactics. Had he lost because of unfamiliarity with the rules I wouldn't be so harsh.
I thought elves/eldars were fast and squishy, so seing Craftworld in action was surprising to me

Most of these Eldar are already dead before they hit the battlefield... Dead Hard!
Unfortunately guys army was malee orianted so they never got a chance to get close
Living eldar are pretty squishy, but their vehicles and their undead golems? Not so much!
Craftworlds are like the opposite of a jack of all trades. They are masters of everything, but terrible at anything outside their role.
Wraiths are the toughest, nastiest things in the army. But they're slow, and have very short range. And no invulns.
And like everything CWE, very expensive.
Obliterators are actually really good against Wraiths, so it was super unfortunate that they didn't manage to do anything.
I just love this theme music so much. Makes it feel like a SNES fighting game lol

This is way more complicated than it normally is so don't worry.
It's only like this because the obliterators have to roll three d3 dice (a normal die but divided by two rounding up) to determine each stat when they fire. (if I remember correctly, the strength is six plus the first d3 then the other two are just the other d3 dice)

Great video! I really enjoy this series and am excited to see who wins the tournament.
Unfortunately there were a couple of missed rules that really sold Chaos short here. Hateful Assault should've given +1 Attacks to all charging units, and the Venomcrawler should've healed 1 wound at the end of the Fight phase because it killed a model. Either of those could've really turned around the result!
I can't express to you how much I've been waiting to see another one of these! By the way, thank you for the intro music, it took me back to watching a 1980's Ghostbusters film LOL.
The blood splatter where previous units have died is one of the coolest ideas. 😂
I love this series. Being able to see every diceroll with commentary of an entire battle report without having to watch for 3h is amazing. Just as engaging as a"bigger" report, maybe even more so just because its pace is so much faster
Exactly! That's why I stopped watching 3h+ reports while loving 30-40 mins ones. Just don't have the required amount of free time to sit here watching a 3h-long batrep
If you want to find new people to play Warhammer with all you need to do is find a group of people and shout FOR THE EMPURUR and see if enyone says Ah battle brother fine morning to purge some heritcs

Why set the obliterators aside at the start of the game and teleport them in mid-game. Dont they have an ability like that?

Are you not using the rules from the faith and fury book? because your chaos space marine stuff should have the hateful assault rule, which gives them +1 Attack on the charge, so for example the aspiring champion of the marine squad should have had 3 attacks on the charge?
As a chaos fan - this was painful to watch! Such poor luck!

@@AncientWyrm1775 to be fair, he was at a big disadvantage regardless, while craftworlds are "soft" in a such a small match there aren't many things that could take down a T8 unit. Also a malee start collecting is not going to do well Vs a ranged start collecting

@@birb125 i think it's now canon that orks have red blood. not sure where i read that… could have been a recent wd
(historically, though, it has varied depending on the source. i think the earliest explicit references to the colour of ork blood may have said that it was green, but it's possible that it was assumed to be red even before this (& just not mentioned))

Love the format of these. The commentary is miles beyond comparable channels, and the games are just short enough to be interesting, satisfying, but keep me wanting more! I also love the alternating, opposing, narration style.

I mean if guy would of deepstrike the obliterators and used deamon forge for 1CP in the venomcrawler shooting and again in the fight phase it would of been more csm sided and if he played aggressive with the venomcrawler other then keeping in the back he would have focused more on venomcrawler while it ran up the board keeping his obliterators from being targeted out of deepstrike. Other then that I'm glade no one plays craftworld in my play group cause I didnt realize how scary they are
Literally every time I root for someone in a battle report, without fail, they get the worst dice rolls while their opponent gets the luckiest streaks. Still a good battle report!

Don't take this too harshly (if you even read it, lol), your batreps are the best on TH-cam, but you played the CSM really badly Guy.
You said at the start that this was going to be a more competitive tournament to try and see which SC boxes give you the best stuff, and Andrew built and played the Eldar list very strongly, but you didn't even try to use any of the stronger abilities of the CSM. You didn't even use any stratagems besides rerolls! I think the fix was in and you played soft on purpose so that CSM wouldn't just stomp the tournament like most people thought they would.
Andrew used the custom Craftworld traits from Blood of the Phoenix, but you didn't use any of the expanded Black Legion rules from Vigilus Ablaze, or even any of the good stratagems from the core CSM book. At least use Endless Cacophony on the Obliterators and Daemonforge on the Venomcrawler. Not to mention the fact that playing Black Legion at all is a pretty big handicap (though I totally understand wanting to play the models as what they are painted as, but still, if you're going competitive nobody would begrudge you playing one of the stronger legions). You could have played Alpha Legion and used Conceal to prevent the Obliterators from even being targeted in round 1, if you thought they were that important.
I'm not sure it mattered all that much, seeing as how bad you rolled, but I'm still pretty disappointed. I was excited to see one of my favorite factions get a showing on your channel, and you played them so soft and didn't use any of the rules that make them special. Ah well, at least it was a great showing for the Craftworlds. I had no idea Wraithguard were that strong. Pretty neat.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I don't think Guy intended to play that poorly but he was clearly out of his element by the looks of this game.
Everyone's talking about the rolling. The reason Guy lost was putting the Oblits out in the open as if he was going to get to go first. The better play would have been to deploy them behind the wall, deferred for going second. The Eldar would have to move up into the center, then pop out and wreck.
Or deepstrike them. The Venomcrawler should also have been sent to the front, while keeping the marines on the back objective.
