That's shows how much they loved him and not just in one place everywhere. RIP legend

@L CM good enough to bring Diego's bag around, i'll give him that. Also you must be a kid, mentioning trophies you probably don't even know how they worked throughout the decades. Go finish your milk.

@L CM trophies, accolades, whatever you wanna call the Ballon d'or, pretty sure you don't know how it works/worked. Griezman did not win it single handedly and with an average team. Bad try kiddo.

@L CM how about Messi starts playing for a team close to being relegated, Let's say Getafe, and he wins the most stacked league ever vs super teams, playing on a weekly basis vs assassins defenders that tried to break his legs, while playing on shitty pitches and also standing for social injustice against disenfranchised people. Call me up when your dude with the charisma/leadership of a water toilet does that. Also if you were not a children, you would realize that : 1) they didn't play the same position 2) the game was totally different, including level of scoring 3) messi played for either the best team on the planet or on of them sincd he was 15, aka easy fucking work. 4) do you even know how the CL worked back then? Probably not cause you're a kid, do you think 4 teams went in? XD do you know how hard the Uefa cup he won with that Napoli was? Remember, Barcelona without Messi = the Spanish national team that won everything, Messi without Barcelona = a dude that can't win jackshit with an Argentinian team better than what Maradona had. Also Let's talk individually, shall we. A player is made of 3 main quality: technique, physical abilities, charisma/leadership. If you wanna stretch it, you can call it even on technique (i am being generous, diego has better ball control/vision), Messi sorely loses physically (he wouldn't last a week with those defenders) and on the charisma/leadership...pffff. So yeah, enjoy your milk and do some studying. You don't even know what are you talking about, stop wasting my time when you probably started watching football the last 10/15 years.

Maradona singlehandedly won the 1986 World Cup by beating England on the way and it happened not long after Falkland War. That alone makes him a legend. Maradona also carried Napoli against the rich Northern Italian teams like AC Milan, Inter, and Juventus. It was like he led the poor Southerners to stand up against the rich Northerners.

@Jdjd Dhdjsj So someone like CR is a better playmaker than Maradona because he has more assists? Clearly not. There are many players with more goals and assists than Maradona, that doesn't make them greater players... As for trophies- a team wins those, not one player. Also, one of those three world cups Pele has was won without him in the side. He got injured in the second game in 62 and missed the rest of the tournament. Of course Pele was great player who has incredible achievements and rightly deserves to be recognised as one of the greats but imo Maradona was far superior as a dribbler and creator.

Younger generations know who Maradona is, not so much who Ali was or represented. Thats what makes Maradona the most iconic super star in sports. Just watch what he generates among people of all ages, despite if you like him or not. Maradona was way more than a hand of god goal (Shilton is responsible for that goal by the way) he was the one that played and scored in the most artistic way ever seen in this sport. Multiple times. Thats the difference, where some people see a hand, other people see an act of justice that they dont have in their lives, around the globe. Soccer-football, is just the excuse. Ali, in his greatness and without drugs, cant reach what Maradona means for millions of people.

Sadly, while it all sounds romantic, South America has been almost in a perpetual decline after liberation, and the European upper classes stayed in power effectively.
