- Succulents have always been considered slow and passive growers, and some of them really are, but there are some varieties that grow considerably faster than others, and I wanted to show them to you. Looking at these plants you'll learn how to identify fast growing types, and so you can give them more care on your side to be able to get more of them! Hope this helps!

is this the ratio of you potting mix that you use in setosa
Hello I actually go with about a 50:50 ratio now, up to about 60% organic materials with 40% pumice... I find that using less pumice does great for acclimating, and it's better to mix mais(corn) sized pumice as well... Try it out on some of your cheaper plants to see how they'll do...😊👍

You really need to know the percentage of mineral to organic content should be in your soil composition. Some succulents need more drainage material than others. Some have more delicate roots that need softer soil while others really need exceptional drainage with a lot of mineral content. A lot depends on the conditions that they traditionally live under. We are taking them out of their natural environment but must try to provide as close to their ordinary growing conditions as possible.
Find a good source of that information you can look for a good succulent book written by a successful succulent grower or you can look for a grower of succulents that really knows what they are doing in your area and is willing to share that information with you.
Your weather and how much humidity is in your atmosphere makes a huge difference as well. Not everyone has the same conditions that they are growing under so we have to learn our succulent’s best growing conditions as well as how to “read” how they look. So many things to take into consideration!
There are so many different types of succulents that come from different climates and growing conditions. Once you understand where they come from and what type of conditions are best for them you will lose far less of them. I have found that buying from growers that tend to have the healthiest stock helps a lot, too. If you buy from a particular place and tend to have a large percentage of plants dying then move on to another nursery. If you don’t propagate your plants under good conditions they are not going to grow well.
Thank you for the helpful info! Yes, I always try to learn more and more with each passing month about these plants! Sadly, though, not a lot of resources, books or expert opinion can be found online when it comes to growing them in our tropical area, here in the Philippines. Most succulent growers and bloggers are form other countries. So what most of us growers here do is experiment, and I try as much as I can to share what I've learned based on my successes on my experiments. 😊 When it comes to imitating their natural environment, we can do that by adjusting their potting mix. sunlight and watering, but still most plants will stay alive by our experimentation and care, since most of them aren't even found in the wild but are already hybridized and selected for ornamental gardening purposes. 😊👍
