This is a great video if your on a lift but it tried this on jackstands and couldn't get the ball joint to clear the spindle didn't have the leverage or strength so I had to pull the bolts holding spindle to strut worked fine than bit a great video gave me the confidence to achieve this goal thanks sir
Thanks man! From an aussie female that had to pull over as it didn't hear nor feel right. Got out looked underneath, yep right CV has seen better days. Needed to know how to repair myself. Cheers!
Holy Rust Batman!!! Great video. I was going to do it the other way removing camber bolts and saw this. This seems way better and you don't have to get an alignment
Just finished this repair on my 2014 outback. I will say it was not as easy as the video made it look! My weak impact couldnt get the axel nut off so I used a cheater bar to break axel nut free. Definitely struggled with the ball joint as well. Where did you get that handy hook with a hole in it for your pry bar? I used an eye bolt and bent it in a vice. It did the job 😅 Thanks for the video!!
love your videos! clear and concise. some constructive feedback is use anti-seize and damn man, you're not going to wire brush/clean those ball joint threads before you torque the castle nut back on?
Wow this was so easy, I have 2019 outback and got hit by a car I was able to replacement everything but cv axle is stucked. I used cv axle removal and and pry bar nothing works. I ended uo just replacing the boot and regressed it. Any thoughts that?

A real pro, nicely done video!
Great to the point video tutorial.
Unbolt ball joints on both sides and it’s way easier to pry down!

Awesome video thanks!
This is by far the simplest version I have seen of the job. I just need to borrow a powerful impact driver.
Thx dude
As cheap as aftermarket parts are just replace the knuckle, control arm with new bushings and wheel bearing housing if you have that much rust.

Why not just remove the knuckle assembly bolts from the top of the shock rather than messing with a ball joint?
That 32 mm not took me 3 hours And I still couldn’t remove it!!
