You swap the signs when you divide or multiply ONLY by a negative number and he just turned the improper fraction into a mixed # its the same thing still
Also, may I just point out that if you are in college/university, they do not do this method. You will not use open or closed circles. However, it depends on the college/university. They teach brackets and parentheses instead of the circles.
At 5:14 I think you accidentally subtracted 2 instead of adding it. You do the opposite of what's in the inequality and since it's all subtraction you would add 2 and get 10.

I may have misunderstood, but I thought when you multiply or divide across the inequality, you have to reverse them? so the left side should have the symbol flipped?

It is really simple. My advice, I know your post was a while ago, but watch multiple videos.
try watching videos on linear inequalities, and if that is too hard, simply watch a video on inequalities and then climb the ladder.
