Why is it only affecting Santa Cruz when the entire Pacific coast would be affected by a tsunami?
I can't see how this is much different then a high wind regular storm along the Coast. You can compare this to Japans, that's for sure.
Probably ignored the warning sirens if California has any. he had maybe a good half a hr to get out of the water before the west coast begun to be affected.

I actually heard the explosion hear in Los Angeles. It sounded like fireworks going off and thought it weird somebody was firing off fireworks at dawn.

The Gulf coast of Florida experiences 2-4 feet of surge every time a big storm is brewing in the Gulf. 4.3 feet is just a taste of what Cali could get. The West coast States have never been ones to build according to natural disaster risks. Coastal areas should always build to withstand 6 feet of surge or more. Building for the pleasing visuals instead of survival.

I remember the first tsunami. The Marina took damage when the boats got untethered.
Had they been out on the water they would have been safer.

Grew up in Turlock. Love my channel 3. I’ve lived in Oregon since 1972, near the beach. One of our favorite pastimes is watching stupid people driving toward the beach when they hear a tsunami is imminent as we wave at them while we drive the other direction.

I would be much less judgmental of the general public if we lived in a world where emergency service people didn't have to constantly risk their lives unnecessarily because they have to reroute idiots away from whatever dangerous situation they've been warned to stay away from. A perfect example of this particular type of moron is the person who decides that it's a great idea go to the beach when a tsunami is heading their way.
Your example has no fatalities. No emergency personnel were injured or put at risk.
Meantime across the country:
People are driving around in such bad conditions they get stuck in traffic and die.
Emergency personnel are being put at extreme risk and have been injured.
State of emergency has been declared in four states asking people to stay off the road.
This was a tsunami advisory. Not a warning or state of emergency.

I agree. I live in NH and we had an earthquake yesterday, and we don't get them often, but we do get them. I've been paying attention to all of the volcanoes, and earthquakes around the world, and the big one is coming and we are in for it.
Imagine if the Volcano eruption was 5/7 times larger it would be a disaster.

Even with advanced warning, people aren't prepared..leaving their vehicles to flood. Marinas are designed to withstand anything except normal tide. That's a lot money in marinas and you all will pay for other people's poor tsunami designed marina. This was a test run warning.
