they are also putting emergency personnel at risk for no reason
Only rational people hear the dangerous and get away. The fools just gleefully flock towards danger. It never fails 😂😂
Kinda like how the cartels and illegal bums flock towards the open US border...
People do stupid things and the lifeguards have to risk THEIR lives to save their sorry butts. 😢
Yeah freedom sucks! I definitely think you two know what's best for us all!
@@ArtnCharcI’ll bet you’ve tried to pet a bison or two at Yellowstone, haven’t you?
@gwenverde7970 You can be on the council too, bud . I can definitely tell you're way smarter than most.
I bow down to your type . Those who know best are always right!
“Is dangerous!” People: “say no more I’m getting close to see better” 😅🤦🏻♀️😒
Americans. Strictly Americans. Japanese people aren't flocking to the beaches to watch the tsunamis.
Authorities are saying to stay away from the beach . "Hey lets got to the beach " .
Selfish behavior putting your lives in danger. Just stupid. And bringing their kids. Smh.
@@catherinecarter8987 we arnt all grannies knitting at home some of us are young and adventurous. You want be safe in your bedroom on your computer good for you. Some us like a thrill or two. Now go call your grandkids tell them grandmami has fresh batch of cookies for them n warm milk
0:58 the old man just standing there pointing 😂
They need to keep that old man at home. Seems like he has some sort of cognitive decline.
I believe he was pointing at a grandchild that he was concerned about.
The mentality of people: "oh, there's a dangerous situation going on let's go see it!" "It's invigorating, but I wouldn't recommend anybody else coming down to see it"
The same ones come up into the mountains during snowfall and crash
Cheers
I remember in like 82 or 83 when the water was all the way up to Cable St. That poor pier has been through a lot!!
Hey that goes against the climate change narrative. Sea levels were not that high in the past. Stop spreading misinformation.
❤
It was also around full moon! Best regards from Sweden
I now live in Oregon in Central Point. I have body surfed in Redondo Beach in Southern. Ca. most of my life. I have not found any waves here in Ore.of that magnitude. But here in Oregon you really need a wet suit. I only body surfed in Oregon but was very disappointed. Southern Ca. has better waves. You only need a we suit in about two months. A lot of surfers at any time will attest what I talking about. I am 75 years old at this time and have taken up new interests. Cycling, Backpacking, and taking my hounds out for a run. Thanks for your post. Kevin
Those waves are nothing on Thanksgiving day in 1974 on Waimea Bay on the North Shore of Oahu the waves were coming in 35 feet tall for as far as you could see in both directions, and you couldn't hear anything but the roar of the ocean and there were guys out surfing, crazy. That was one of the most memorable times on Oahu while I was stationed there in 1974 & 1975 Glad I got to see that tropical paradise.
@@dustysummers2680That's a monster! That area is known for its high wave numbers
My dad, a pastor at the time, was with an emergency response team that day. He said the water had gone past the road, flooded some homes, and the waves were deafening.
Canada (British Columbia) is fortunate to have a giant Breakwater called Vancouver Island, Happy New Year to our friends in Washington, California and Oregon and stay safe❤
Do the people in this video look like they are concerned about safety?
As Confucius, a surfer from the Far East of San Diego once said, "Crisis is opportunity, bruh"
Its amazing how many people lack common sense! Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
taking photos at the shoreline of the huge waves, doesn't seem like the best idea
I haven't seen waves this big since we moved from the area 40 years ago, and even then we stayed away when the waves got that high. They are beautiful and I do miss the beach.
Thanks for the letting us know.
The immovable object meets the irresistible force, watches, and learn as the ocean erodes the beach. Fascinating!
Some people have absolutely no idea about the power of water.
I agree with the surfer dude. Its super fun for people that are very experienced, even they know how dangerous their position could be. DO NOT go in if you dont know what you’re doing.
he was more than likely lying his ass off. experienced or not, you should stay out of that water
@@sarahbaartmansrevenge im quite experienced and I’ve found myself in dire situations, its about not panicking and acting according to personal protocol
Hawaiian surfer here... Even if people are skilled surfers and swimmers, the ocean always wins and WILL surprise anyone
@@sarahbaartmansrevenge Yes..he seemed like a poser but wise words.
Exactly 💯 it only takes a split second and those rip currents to pull u under an impact zone, if you panic u die ! You gotta be a pro swimmer and know the area . Only us Surfers dedicate our lives to risk for the sport ! It's not fucking easy
Let's all go to the beach and see if we can get pulled out to sea.
3:09 She's SO cute. :)
A huge storm did not cause these waves. It was an earthquake that happened in the middle of the ocean, and it took three days for it to reach Southern California.
Yeah I heard about that. Before the news of the earthquake, I was wondering why were they saying, it was a storm 🤔 😅
The mega quake just hit Japan and we are in an extremely dangerous time. For a significant tsunami to impact the West Coast of the USA
Just prior to these small tsunami waves hitting the West Coast there were multiple earthquakes on the west side of the Pacific. All of this was leading up to the mega quake that just hit Japan and could cause a huge tsunami resulting in a massive destruction and death on the west coast of the USA. People need to be getting alerted and get away from the coast and told the time frame has passed for the danger
Lets take the kids too!
Throw them to the tides for a New years blessing...so sweet. Sarcasm
Yeah these destroyed nearby buildings that were farther away than all the people. This is just dumb...theres kids running directly next to the shoreline and even a mom with a stroller with a baby inside.
All those people on the beach are going to be the same ones who are going to get injured or have property damage and then complain about the government not doing anything to prevent it.
and up here in the pnw, temperatures are mild, storms not really happening. Is this the new normal or just this year?
We on jersey shore last week had waves 20+feet was amazing storm out at sea.
I'm so glad she is okay. 😊
News-very dangerous waves
Californians-oh let’s go check it out
ALL WEATHER IS ENGINEERED.
WTF is wrong with humans? Why flock to danger?
Natural selection at its finest.
Why did this happen? Never got a detailed explanation.
I see a whole lot of negligent parenting goin' on here...
That's what I see... 😮
How is Solana Beach faring with the high surf?
If that equipment is damaged. She'll be fired
They just barely fix the pier. Before you couldn't walk all the way down to the end.😢 i visit my mom who now lives in national city and before i moved, we used to live in ocean beach. Our street was cape may Ave. Miss living there. It was so peaceful.❤
Love all of the hand movements.
Great reporting ,it's called dealing with the eaments.
@tammyhoffenbacher3051 What is dealing with the eaments? supposed to mean? Looks like you could use a little more schooling
Dustin is a great reporter 😊
God help California
What is causing this to happen? I haven't heard anything about that 😕
they will say elnino but us weather manipulation watchers this was probably usa made storm to hopefully fill lake mead or a Chinese made storm in retaliation to America thinking they own Taiwan.
@lbbyron154 ....Yes. it is. It's deeper than that ...but few understand it .
Im surprised this state hasn't sent prison inmates to fill sand bags as coastal protection for private incarceration profits
Years ago I jumped off the OB pier down at the CAFE sign with my board
Ocean beach is my favorite childhood memories
Ocean Beach......near San Diego?
Our boss is glad the equipment is SAFE! Lmao 😂 They care more about the equipment than her. 😂
When the salt water makes it way to all the car EV batteries, the fire department will be busy 24/7. Maybe rising oceans was the reason Hanna-Barbera depicted all the buildings on 'The Jetsons' being built on top of poles and high up in the air.
its fun till govt will spend thousans just to rescue those needing adrenaline rush 🧐 if theres a law to penalize then better than wasting taxes😢
Hey Billybob let’s go out and watch the waves 🥹
Stay Happy

The OB pier has been closed for a few years now. It is due to be rebuilt
I don't understand y people wants to see that when u know this things could killed u and it not that u don't know this things could killed
So it's an annual event, but news channels ring their panic code..🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ok my post is gone. 🎉 EL PORTO, not Pacific Palisades, built on pillars years ago. Near Manhattan Beach
hmmmm who would of thought that flooding waters and electric cars dont exactly mesh well together
the ocean is angry at us for pollution..
Old Hawaii Five-O opening theme suddenly playing in my mind
Beach combing in the aftermath of this will be beyond imagination! Wish I could be there (too far from Boston).
Dang. A hundred net floats, a year's firewood and a truckload of stuff
Now where do I put it..... 🐸😁🐸
We are spectators of a TUSANAMI that is going to HIT SHORE anytime NOW?
Good job Arianna.
For Massachusetts please keep up the wonderful work you do for all of us 🇺🇸 😊
Happy New Year
There in USA it is purportedly stated that the waves were caused by a storm out in the Pacific.
In UK we got the report on the day it happened that it was 'A rouge wave that was predicted'
And I'm seeing other people saying that neither is this a storm or a rouge wave but infact the result of earthquakes in the far Pacific.
Plus Japan has had an earthquake in the same period and earthquakes can come in 'storms' where earthquakes create other earthquakes (not to be confused with aftershocks or follow up tremors) where the tension is moved to other parts of the fault line or neighbouring fault lines, and causes further individual quakes or creates geological instabilities to occour such as would cause perhaps things like underwater landslides, and if these were subtle enough within an oceanic basin such as the Pacific, I could find it feasible to think it possible that this has the potential to produce strong but relatively non destructive ocean currents and waves, that when interacting with the usual ocean currents, present as something like this.
Possibly.
I dont know Im no geologist or anything.
That accepted, the differing reports seem baffling to think.
A storm off shore vs a rouge wave that was pedicted beforehand and led to people gathering...
And whoever would make the decision to let a young kid go with them to such a dangerous place is crazy when we have all seen how unpredictable the ocean can be on a saturday... never mind when its not got (at a minimum) a rouge wave coming into shallow coastal waters.
And you know that the parents are irresponsible by default because side note anyone who gets their young pre teen a Starbucks to drink while putting the kid and themselves at risk of the mercy of the ocean is clearly a fucking dickhead.
A kid with a coffee trailing about smiling with a potential ocean wave coming : how fucking dumb are his parents... oh my God.... is the first thing I thought when I saw the thumbnail...
And I love Coffee. Always have. Used to have it at 11 or 12 but no way would my Mum ever buy me a Starbucks at that age (cos it wasnt a thing in early 90s Uk) but even I would never buy that for my nephews let alone if I had a kid.
I know its only a cup and he could have had anything in there but I admit I just was amazed.
Meanwhile in Japan 😂. Local news is a joke
Annette Jackson are you in any flooding with ocean
“Is being driven by a storm Brewing in the Pacific” bro, where else would the swell come from? 🤦♂️💀
These are not waves via the Japanese earthquake.
Guess not 😊
Not the first time piers on S. D. beaches have been damaged by storm waves. Not that we would expect any of the TV personalities to have a clue. Plenty of shots of personalities, on the spot reporters, bystanders, a couple of shots of waves. Whoop-te-doooo
No one should be swimming in dangerous waters like that😮
Yeah,....and these pricks who take risks put lifeguards lives at risk.
This surfer is just showing off.
... did they forget japan had an earthquake?
So, why do I get the feeling that California is about to feel their first tsunami? Going to the beach to see the waves is the LAST PLACE you need to be
What about Tamarack!?! Is there a reason you're not telling anyone about where the biggest waves are? Like if you dont already know we don't want to be the ones to tell you.
Guy - liking for adrenaline and a little bit of fear
Me - yeah they're all nuts
They're asking for it. Lol keep on underestimating mother nature
What glad equipment saved and oh yeah you too honey.
Love to see the high waves!
The real shocker is that people still live in California 😭. Its so impossibly expensive out there bro.
Omg 3 people needed to talk about a wave😶
The lengths people will go to for a opportunity to get a free bath is astounding.
Crazy, how an angry Sea totally captivates us...
The sound, the smell, the sheer beauty is intoxicating...
I'm guilty of the same thrill, but as a Child of a Coast Guard Man, I know when to step back, very far back...🤣🤣
Surfer Dude needs his own channel!
And no explanation for why these waves are so high? From what I have heard Japan was repeatedly hit with high magnitude earthquakes which purportedly caused a tsunami. Any correlation? Not even talked about.
I love these people
It rains in Southern California, wow a song was made for them years ago. We don’t have oceans in Arizona. Stay home California.
These people are so ignorant!!!! They said, heed the warning!!!!!!
I wonder if the Navy SEALs would still train in this? lol
Is this related to the earthquakes in Japan?
Wow..super..to witness this..
No thank you. I live 5 mins away. I haven’t even thought about going that way.
That reporter sure is gorgeous
Local news reporting is absolutely RUINED by the people given the responsibility to actually report it.
When my mum was at school in the 60s there was a tsunami warning so the school principal took the everyone down to the beach to watch it ........lucky there wasnt one or i might not be here!
Lack of situational awareness is astounding
Thank you.😮
never turn ur back on the ocean
that is not it. they actually went there after hearing about it. the overestimated themselves thinking that water cant hurt them . or they just dont care if they get hurt.
