    i just put these on my 2001 corolla and i had to pull my rear fenders out to the max . i had the rear at the highest setting but still had mad scraping on my 8" rims. just fyi to those out there. i'm happy with these for sure. bang for the buck

    • @DanDoesCar
      @DanDoesCar  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ya I like them a lot. IDK about the scraping issue, I never had that tbh. You must have some really wide fat wheels for it to scrape all the time. Thats not the coil overs, just a fitment issue

  • @JoseHernandez-xg5mt
    @JoseHernandez-xg5mt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey man, I just got these and I’m going pretty low and didn’t realize I would need adjustable end links for the front. The ones I have are too short. What kind do you have exactly??

    • @DanDoesCar
      @DanDoesCar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm.... that is strange because I did not need anything when I lowered my car. I did eventually get some lower control arms to add some negative camber, but I never had to get any end links. But then again I only lowered my car about 2/2.5 inches, so Im not sure exactly how low you are talking.

  • @j0hnny5o4
    @j0hnny5o4 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Hey, I just installed Rev9 coilovers today. Do you have any problems with them being too short? When I installed, I had to max out the height from the bottom collar. Even then, the car was real low. Had to adjust the top collar to give it more height. Any idea?

    • @DanDoesCar
      @DanDoesCar  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes that was the same with my car..... Coil Overs are meant to lower your car. ESPECAILLY with the FRS BRZ and GT86 because the stock suspension has so much length to it..... We did an install and if you look at the size comparison, the Rev9 is like 3/4 if almost 1/2 the size from what I remember

    my adjustment screw is super tight and can’t turn. and what’s the allen key used for?

    • @DanDoesCar
      @DanDoesCar  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you mean the screw to adjust ride height. That is tight for ALL coil overs, if it wasnt tight it would loosen as you drive going over bumps and stuff...... You just have to put some muscle into it, there isnt any coilover thats easy to adjust. The wrenches they come with are a pain in the butt though ngl. Allen Key is used for camber adjustment

  • @andyespino7

    Have you tried to dial them in? Adjust the dampners, I have fully stiff set on and I get alot of bounciness in the rear.

    • @DanDoesCar
      @DanDoesCar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I have adjusted the dampners, but I also tightened the springs when I lowered my car because I know the dampners would not do enough for what I was trying to achieve...... Wheel fitment is also a very big aspect to that

  • @carculturemedia8784
    @carculturemedia8784 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hey, so I recently installed these on my e39, but from what I’m hearing, you have to adjust the height of the car with the shock out of the car then put it back in. Is this true?

    • @DanDoesCar
      @DanDoesCar  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No that is not true at all. Not for the BRZ version at least

    • @HotBoiRicer
      @HotBoiRicer 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It somewhat us true. You adjust height by rotating the body of the coil. However, that’s why you have the spanner wrench included is to rotate the body while it’s on the car. It is easier to adjust them and get a more accurate adjustment when they’re off the car, but you can adjust them on the car.

    • @DanDoesCar
      @DanDoesCar  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have never been picky about ride quality. But I have my coilovers stiff as I could get them, so its pretty bouncy. You can however adjust them to be a softer ride. So really it just comes down to what you chose to do

    Lije the green color and it's nice to be able to adjust how your car rides and absorbs impacts 😎👍 I always wonder why people that have jeeps don't get these...but the "real" jeep owners would probably call someone a sissy if they didn't like that rough ride(cuz they are made for off road)haha. Great job dan 😎 I like learning about why and how stuff works, your videos are always interesting from many different viewpoints.

    Rev9 are crap. Stay away. I had them installed on my '04 Avalon and they make a grinding sound with the slightest up/down movement. Also, hitting the smallest of potholes at low speed feels and sounds like they are going to come through my rear package tray. I spent $1000 with installation and now I'm having to replace them with OEM at the cost of $2000 (doing the installation myself).

      they dont do that with my car and never have.....

      @TE5LA-GAMING ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DanDoesCar Well, I don't drive your car. They do it on mine. My car is probably heavier than yours. I have an mp3 recorded of the sound, but can't link it here because TH-cam deletes the post. The shop also could not get them aligned properly. One wheel has negative camber and the other is positive and they couldn't be adjusted more. Mine have camber plates and they said they had them moved all the way.
      I have ordered OEM struts, $1000 just for the rears, but they had only one coil spring and say there are no more left in the world. Not sure how I'm going to get another spring.

      @@TE5LA-GAMING Should've just installed them yourself. Modding a car is expensive if you're letting the shop do it for you.
