Base game Emblems are usable.
Base game Paralogues and Skirmishes are available.
Item Shop and Armory are usable from world map.
Bond and Support conversations can be advanced from world map.
Maddening Classic Difficulty
Ironman: No Resetting/Restarting/Draconic Time Crystal for any reason. Game over means a restart from the beginning.
Never visit the somniel unless to access the final chapter
This also means:
No DLC bonuses (since they are given upon entering somniel)
No DLC Maps/Emblems/Anything (since they are only enabled upon getting the Three Houses Bracelet in the Somniel)
No Forging and Engraving (Since you can only do that in the somniel)
No Meals
No Skill Inheritance or leveling up bonds with bond fragments
No online features

@@Excelblem that would be funny, considering playing conquest normally was one of the most player-lethal runs you did. that would be no forging, no capturing, no birthday items, no meals, what else?
You can't buy seals, weapons, or staves. Corrin supports will get slower, no prisoners, no weapon upgrades, or cooking. Yeah, I think it's gaming time

@@angrybread478 Yeah that'll be the real sticking point here. You can live without meals and prisoners but the crippling lack of staves, weapons, tonics and promotion items will be a real problem
I've gotta say, the bit at the beginning about "I named Alear Blear so that the naming convention will soon be Clear" was immensely funny to me
And to think this entire ordeal could have been avoided, IF Citrinne contributed to the war efforts and gave away that one island she tries to give Alear when she already had a home.
Sorry guys, I think I accidentally included a Thracia 776 clip in the middle of this. It caused a whole bunch of problems but it's been resolved now.

"Alear wakes up to realize all of this was just a fake flashfoward" this time its a fake flashback, unlike what was done in Awakening, Fates and even Echoes, Alear was indeed reliving past events but in a glorified way that differs heavily to how it actually happened. and the future party members on that scene make zero sense at all, how can Alear dream of people she never met?
I have dreamed of people I didn't meet until later before.

I mean she technically did meet the royals, since our Alear traveled to the past to confront herself with everyone, so that could explain it… kind of
It’s implied that Alear was misremembering the events of the end of the war 2,000 years ago. Supposedly, the people he’s seeing are the royal’s ancestors. This is further supported by the fact that Alfred is synched with Lucina (in support conversations, its revealed Lucina used to be Firene’s ring before it was traded for Celica’s). Also, it mirrors the events similarly, with Alear rushing ahead with Marth to kill Sombron by himself. This is probably Alear dreaming about an idealized version of those events, where he IS a divine dragon and a hero of the war.
perhaps since those royals have been visiting alear while they're asleep, hearing their voices or feeling their presence caused them to appear in alear's dream? idk

Refering to Flear, Elear, Dlear, Clear and Blear as Alear felt like a comedy skit. This is totally Alear, except she died fi...four times.
The worst thing about this run is seeing Etie finally get used and she just gets strength screwed despite being her best growth and main draw as an archer
She was my second favorite unit in my first playthrough. She got me through tikis chapters

Ngl it was pretty cool of the engage devs to include the secret character Ced who only appears in a gaiden chapter if you do a somnieless run

You have a very clever sense of humor. Don’t get me wrong I watch a lot of your videos so I know this isn’t news. But naming them “Blear for a naming convention that will soon be made Clear” is crazy.
When I first played Engage I never found a good use for two things: the Hurricane Axe and Rosado.
On my third playthrough I realized 1. Rosado has nice base magic 2. Rosado can use axes at base 3. Rosado can fly at base 4. Hurricane has like a whopping 20 might effective damage against fliers
So I boosted that might and magic stat and saw Rosado barely yet surely bonk current chapter Wyverns in one hit consistently. I later gave him Hold Out/Roy Emblem and he'd just laugh in the face of danger. Underrated weapon. Rosado too.
Rosado always finds a place on my team mostly cause I like his character but he's surprisingly useful, especially with an offense focused emblem like Marth or eirika

Now it’s time to Maddening No Cheese, Ironman with Firene and Brodia characters only. That’s worth seeing.
Really loved those streams. You obviously proved that the challenge is doable, but like you said in your epilogue some units with certain characteristics just fare a lot better. In a run that's not out for maximum challenge, but just aims to cut down the tedium of the Somniel activities I'd just allow for forging and Engraving as that really helps the accuracy/damage problems some units run into, making your viable approaches more flexible. You can even forge/engrave in battle preps/world map with mods, so it doesn't take much time either.

I’ve also just recently attempted this Ironman and have some general tips for anyone who wants to do it. Training weapon ranks with emblems is extremely important. Units like Chloe want to be using Celica early on to be able to reclass into Mage Knight later on, or Lapis for Wyvern Knight for example. Speaking of Chloe, mage knight Chloe is arguably the best unit in the game for good availability (weapon rank training), 1-2 range, enemy-phasing with Lucina, stats and also importantly stat caps. Though Pandreo is also still a decent replacement. Having a good Corrin user for dreadful aura freezes eg. A trained Celine, is also important as you won’t be able to take out enemies very easily and need to delay others. Some units don’t require much investment to function, eg. Radiant Bow Fogado, Great Knight Goldmary, Hortensia, so you heavily want your investment to go into a few hard carries, who can one-round enemies. For my run it was Wyvern Knight Kagetsu (physical offense) and Mage Knight Chloe (magical offense.)

Not really though. Enemies don't become insanely strong in old FE.
Only if the game wasn't designed to you using the tools. You arrive to FE6 levels of accuracy with stronger enemies and it isn't for the weapon accuracy,because the game assume engraves and forges
Pretty sure old Fire Emblem has limited weapon uses and requires keys to open doors and chests.

I wonder how hard would a Shadows of Valentia KMU Ironman be? Is there a possibility you would try that?
Could probably solo the game with Alm. And Celica. Probably going to need a lot of food since Silque will probably die minute one
I think it would still be somewhat of a challenge, considering that he will most likely only be able to use two units at some point in the game
And with scenarios like dying to a 1% crit, I think it would still take more than one try to complete it

Something that irks me about this game is how every chapter after 17 has some sort of gimmick; except the double-chapter's first half which... is a double chapter. Be it cannons, other map things...

Still not a real victory: FE1 didnt have Emblems, so they make it a fake Fire Emblem game.
