Love that the beach is looking so good and everything is slowly rising again. Mother Nature is definitely a clever girl. Lovely video as usual. Hugs and stay safe xx
I just love the way you think. Shelling in the water -- "it feels like a video game to me!" That sunrise was stunning! And when it was over, you consoled yourself, "but now I can see the seashells much better." I admit, I tend to charge into the water when there are dolphins. Never really thought twice about it, but next time I'll hear your voice, "I don't want to be knocked over by an 800 pound dolphin, thank you very much!" And thank YOU very much for taking me along on another beautiful shell-filled beach walk.
My mom found Sanibel in a 1/16 page ad in a magazine in the late 80s. We’ve gone for thanksgiving most years since. Love this place, reminds of simpler days. Back then you could spend 8 hours on the beach and see maybe 10 elderly couples shell hunting.
In 2 weeks my husband and I are headed to the Gulf. I can't wait to go shelling again! It's my favorite thing to do when we get to Florida. It's been 2 years since we have been there and thanks to your videos I can identify almost everything I find. 😊
Howdy Sharmon! I loved this video. So much variety in colors, shapes and sizes of shells. Can't tell you how much I wished I could reach through the pc screen and collect some too. Thank you for sharing all the loveliness. You have a wonderful week.
OMG, what a glorious sunrise! I hope the shell museum walk was enjoyable. The shell haul is beautiful and the beach is looking fabulous. Glad to see and hear that people are returning to the island, and that the businesses are recovering.
The shell museum walk was indeed enjoyable and it is nice to finally see some people on the beach. I don't necessarily like the "competition" but there are plenty of shells to go around and it feels like the island is finally coming back to life a little!
What a wonderful video! Love seeing it being restored to it’s natural beauty! We stayed at Sundial and loved it! Used to live 2 hours away in the 80’s and Sanibel was our go to place since then! I love when they dredge the beaches, so many new shells! thank you for sharing❤️🐚

My son and daughter-in-law are going to Anna Maria Island in March with their two daughters and I'd love to book a shelling expedition for them. Are there any Florida Naturalists that offer shelling tours from Anna Maria?
Another difference btwn a shark eye and a false shark eye is the direction of the spiral. Shark eyes spiral to the right and false shark eyes spiral to the left.
May I ask what is the parking app that one needs to park on Sanibel Island? Thank you in advance. Last time we were there we just Fed the ticket printout meter.
I used an app called ParkMobile and it's a white P in a green field. It's actually kind of convenient to just add time through the app instead of running back to your car 😃
True shark eyes and false shark eyes. Are they created by entirely different animals? Or are the false ones made by critters who just didn't follow the standard playbook?
Someone REALLY interested in these critters did some DNA testing and the animals are indeed wee bit different. They essentially look the same, but they make their shells a little different. It's a miracle I even know about the difference. There is not a lot of good shell info out there!
I've been here on Sanibel today. I would of been so excited to meet you. I have spent the day trying to find a place to park my RV. The only camp ground doesn't allow dogs. So I never got to go out on the beach yet. I am hoping I get out on this beautiful beach. Do you know where I can Park my RV. I'm so frustrated. I just want to go out on the beach.
What does it really mean if it is a false shark eye? Is there a different kind of animal that live is there? Thank you for the videos. I always look forward to them!
i have another question: every time you pick up any type of scallop shell i have a bit of a pavlov drool response 'cause i LOVE eating scallops so...my question do you eat sea food ie shellfish;)? what types, if any, of the shellfish you collect are eatable?
Am heading to Marco second week in may want to go to lovers key and sanibel. Where to park in sanibel. Can u park anywhere to shell in south fort meters???? Is there anywhere that has sea urchins
Sanibel has public beaches open all over the island so you'll have no troubles there. Lover's Key is open and has plenty of parking so you'll be okay there too. There is no parking on the south end of Fort Myers Beach. You can either find off street parking as far south as you can or you can take the trolley or uber.

All shark eyes spiral in the same direction 😉
May I ask what is the parking app that one needs to park on Sanibel Island? Thank you in advance. Last time we were there we just Fed the ticket printout meter.
I used an app called ParkMobile and it's a white P in a green field. It's actually kind of convenient to just add time through the app instead of running back to your car 😃
@@SWFBeachLife Thank you so much!!
Headed to Sanibel tomorrow...
Good shell luck to you! And I hope you didn't hit too much traffic!
Are you seeing any olives? My favorites!
Go to Fort Myers Beach if you want olives. I can't stop picking them up!
Thanks! You know what they say. If you can't find the book you want, maybe that's because you're the one who has to write it.
@@CorinneHSmith You know, I might do just that! 🙏🏼
I'm so sorry Shirley! I do not have an RV so I know little to nothing about where to park them. I hope you find a place.
Hi Sharmon, I’m currently in Exuma Bahamas and just got back from an excellent day of shelling!! 🇧🇸😎🌴
I wanted to go to the Bahamas to find shells! Which beaches should I visit if I go?
I find shells on Forbes Hill and also Exuma Point which is at the opposite end of the island😎@@SWFBeachLife I wish I could sen you some photos.
@@renahays7988 you can always email me! swfbeachlife@gmail.com
I did, thank you☺@@SWFBeachLife
What does it really mean if it is a false shark eye? Is there a different kind of animal that live is there? Thank you for the videos. I always look forward to them!
The animals look identical, but they just make their shells a wee bit different.
i have another question: every time you pick up any type of scallop shell i have a bit of a pavlov drool response 'cause i LOVE eating scallops so...my question do you eat sea food ie shellfish;)? what types, if any, of the shellfish you collect are eatable?
Yes, I do eat shellfish. If I had an active fishing license, I would be able to keep live quahogs and sunray venus clams.
What part of Sanibel is this
I entered at Gulfside City Park.
There's no better exercise than the Sanibel "squat" lol
I was thinking that over the weekend! My back and legs are never going to be out of shape 😂
Which beach did you go to? Sanibel Island is one of my favorite places to visit. ❤
I shelled at Gulfside City Park 😃
What do you do with all of the shells you find?
I get asked that question a lot so I made a video of my collection: th-cam.com/video/GZQVCKCJQZk/w-d-xo.html
Thank u so much
Luv it
Do you ever find mermaid purses?
I have never found one. They are out there and they can be found, but I have never seen one myself.
Isn't the water and sand still contaminated from the hurricane?
That was well over a year ago. The water and sand are fine 😃
@@SWFBeachLife I still won't go, and now red tide is back.
❤ Sanibel
Good evening 👋❤️🇨🇦
