  • It was time for an oil change. So I decided to do a quick instructional video for those with this same bike, considering this model, or maybe a project for whatever bike you own. By no means am I a certified mechanic but this is a simple task. An oil change is one of the most cost effective maintenance that can be done by almost anyone. Thanks for viewing!!!

    K&N has a socket end at top of filter, you can use a ratchet to remove it

    Great video. Very easy to follow. One idea to help with the screws. First Loosen them with the socket wrench then remove the socket from the driver handle and use the socket to turn the screw by hand. This helps me when I find hard to reach screw heads. Thanks for the video.

      Great video dude. I have the custom over here in the UK and I love it. Going to do the oil in the next few weeks and keep my fingers crossed the weather gets warmer. I am going to do my best not to turn the oil filter upside down when full... That put a smile on my face. Everyone does that at least once 😁

    That 17mm nut on the oil filter is there for a reason...
    Also, remove the oil filler plug while draining the oil, goes a lot faster

      LOL Newb he is, yeah and helps also when you remove the filler cap as well while draining the oil man, air flow get it air flow to completely drain the old oil out, wow.
      And yes the same 17 mil socket will tighten the oil filter back on. Ok Okay man

    Awesome video! The only thing I don’t know what to chose is oil?! Should I use 20W50 or just 10W40? My bike has 13,000 miles (forgot to mention, I just bought the bike recently and I don’t know how long it’s been sitting)

      @@Peeinurcereal You're welcome! Sounds good! That Mobil 1 is good oil. Anything named brand you should be fine. It basically boils down to if you what thicker or thinner oil. Try going to a Public School or Mall Parking lot for space. Be safe out there!!👍🏿

    Dam found a washer in my oil pan. Guess it's the washer from drain plug. New oil ready install catching this on the fly. Smh

      OEM filters don't have socket adapters. Might have been demonstrating for those who run them

      Not sure what you're referring too. But Ok. Dirty Oil was changed, New Oil put in and filter changed. Bike is running well!!✌🏿

      @@TD205 there is an oil screen that a lot of people miss. On mine it's just behind the kick stand. Hard to find, easy to miss.

      What is the screen? And what level does oil need to be in?

      @@wolfywolf63 Its's on the left side of the crankcase near the drain plug. You'll definitely miss it. I had to look it up in the manual. And the book says 3.2L of oil when doing a full oil change(oil filter removed).

      I used an oil filter remover I purchased from Advanced Auto Parts. Can be purchased at most auto stores.

      @@TD205 I was talking about the chrome cap where you put in the new oil, but I ended up using a quarter with some slip joint pliers lol.
