After talking to a 'insider' in the industry, recommended pressures are to help the suspension work better ( softer because it on a prod bike it has not been tuned to your weight, get your suspension sorted and feel the difference ) , make the tyre run hotter ( better grip we don't need ) and make the tyres wear out faster so we buy more . The advice I got was run 5 psi more and get 10 % better life out of your tyres.
I ride a CF Moto MT800 in Oz and expect 6.25m ( 10 k klms ) out of any rear tyre regardless of cost and have done over 31.25 m on the bike ( 50k klm, we do metric here ) tried the stock tyre, Heidenau K76 , Mitas cant remember and 2 Shinko E705. We have very rough roads and no shortage of dirt back roads my use is varied on both and I dont muck about. The most cost effective tyre has been the Shinko E750 but not by much and I question its wet capability to say the least. At this point it's fair to say tyre pressure ( high ) played a part in the longevity of the Shinko it now has 2 mm of tread after 6.25m ( 10k in my language ) Conclusion - - If you are only replacing your tyres every 2 years buy the dear ones the quality is definitely better and the hit wont hurt - To save money by a set of 1 front and 2 rears at the best price you can haggle and have them sitting in the shed ready to go . ( they never get cheaper ) - Buy end of line tyres the shop wants to get rid of, the new line will be better but generally not much and don't forget the old line tyres were cutting edge once ... - Keep an eye on the manufacture date if you're a hoarder, 10 years ..... - It is not in the best interest of the manufacturers to make a motorcycle tyre the works well for a long time , it can be done but it will not make them money if we only buy a tyre ( most of us ) once in a blue moon .
Hi mate I run my pressure at the correct pressure and I think over in the uK 3000 miles on a rear tyre isn’t great Thanks for the message though I think it all depends on how you ride the bike on the road also
I've just changed my Tourance Next 2's after 4k miles. The rear was like yours, squared off and well into the wear markers. Like me, i suspect you've been giving it a hefty chunk of right hand and have done lots of motorway miles. Thanks to Jay, I've just fitted the Pirelli STR's. Well impressed with on and off road performance, can't comment on the life of them yet.
That looks like really uneven wear I was looking at these for my Africa Twin Adv Sports. I'll cross these ones off. I currently have metzler tourance next on mine they have worn fairly well I'll most likely upgrade the rear to the next 2 which is what I have on the front and is wearing well. Tyres are a complete minefield ain't they! Thanks for this review mate
@@thepeakybiker I’ve had a set but there Way too expensive compared to my others. @@biker1k I think I may have had a bad tyre as I’ve heard from a lot saying they got a lot of miles from there’s I’ve put a rear on for the ABR. this month and hopefully should last me rest of the year I also do a lot of miles mate in the 30 months I’ve owned the bike I’ve done 31k miles on it Cheers for the input and watching and the messages also
Have you tried Shinko tyres? The E705 is similar to those Anlas Capra tread pattern about 80/20. I use the Shinko 804/805 which are a bit more like Continental TKC80s, they're not as vibe-y as they look and I get about 18k km out of them, after about 10K km they start to look a bit done. I think they're great, they last a long long time, they are very predictable in the wet and cheaper (about 3/4 the price) than most other tyres. A lot of people run a 705 on the rear with the 804 on the front.
@@simonbeal2148 they were 180 online, then cost me 40 to have them fitted and balanced. Normally I'm very much not a guy for budget tyres but for this I'd thought I'd take a punt.

The softer the compound, the more grippy the tyre, resulting in less miles out them mate! 🤪👍 As long as they've been mostly happy miles, your laughing! 😉✌️
@thepeakybiker You do seem to go through quite alot of tyres,so your suggestion from your latest vid on buying a tyre machine could pay for itself in no time! 😬👍
It does seem a low amount of miles, but it depends upon your riding style and how much weight your carrying I guess. I would try another manufacturer to see if you get better performance, and if you don't go offroad put a set of road tyres on and see if that is better. Have you contacted the manufacturers for their opinions, would be interesting to see what they say regarding wear and how long they should last. Cheers
That's shite mate, no matter how you look at it. My Bridgestone T31's on the Versys have to lug my 23 stone around, they've done just over 3500 miles and have stackloads left on em. I wasn't expecting great things out of them tbh being stock tyres, but they ain't done bad so far. I suspect a lot of it is down to riding style cos you do like that throttle don't you. Never heard of them tbh, are they a cheaper brand?

No need to set suspension it all electric so does it all it’s self as it active suspension

yes man, bike tyres seem to be a rip off these days, they dont last, and dont get me stared on brake pads
They bothe don’t seem to last as long Infact nothing does these days made to wear quickly I think 🤔
Unless your backing it in around every corner and doing burn outs 4k is a joke.
Not impressed mate as an 80/20 tyre more road going than off road so I would expect 6k mile ish
