I read a comment you made about being gay. I’m not trying to be cruel by asking this, I promise. I come from IFB churches too. I’ve preached and even some of my messages have been rejected by some…. I agree there is an overly critical spirit in the IFB movement…. But, is this reason enough to gloss over the scriptures where the Bible is very clear that sex outside of the marriage bed is sin (Hebrews 13.4). Also, marriage is defined clearly in the Bible as being between a man and a woman. I know that there have been times in my life where there was something in my life and it drove me to push away certain people. I fully admit that the IFB has MAJOR issues…. But, I’m worried for your sake…. Worried specifically that you may be driven to publicize these things in order to ignore the sin you openly unashamedly declare. Jesus warned about what’s going on in the IFB movement. He called it the leaven of the Pharisees. Sin is in the heart, not just in the things we do. Obviously, there can be personal convictions which make us unique in the body of Christ, some specific burdens too which set us apart. For Balaam, correction came out of a donkey…. So I believe truth is truth regardless of who it comes out of. You pointing out the issues in the IFB movement doesn’t change what you are or what you are choosing to do in spite of what God’s Word clearly says. I’m not here to say you didn’t place your trust in Christ, or anything like that….. but, I just find it strange that you are openly unashamedly (it seems) supporting your homosexual lifestyle, when God clearly condemns it in His word….
@@elijahshirk8803 Yes, I am very public about being gay. IFB teachings on homosexuality drove me to being su*c*dal and I have C-PTSD from trauma in that c*lt and that’s why I speak up. There's always a relentless attack on the churches, I was a musician touring on the road when the Lord saved me over 30yrs ago. What I saw in some churches I attended could have caused me to walk away from the faith. The Lord showed me the war going on in the unseen realm, and it will never stop until he comes again. I have been blessed with incredible pastors over the years. Every church I have been a part of has had something happen to rattle the faith. My hope is fixed on Christ alone, I know that in this world and in the churches we will have trouble.
That’s funny. I feel there’s a relentless attack from churches into our government. We have a right of freedom of religion and freedom FROM religion. I couldn’t care less about what churches do or who goes to them as long as their views stay out of politics, but they don’t, do they? If churches want to discuss politics and mix that with religion, then they need to pay taxes like everyone else who uses their influence on politics.
Does this excuse the behavior of churches because you perceive a “relentless assault” on the church? Also, BJU is a para-church organization and not the church proper, should these “Christian organizations” be held to church standards or something different? My curiosity is piqued.
I came so close to attending BJU in the late 1970s and I’m so glad that I didn’t. I attended an IFB church pastored by a BJU grad and that convinced me to attend college elsewhere.

My brother went to BJU in the mid to late '90s. When I first heard the name, I thought it was a joke, both in the full name and the initials. Then I heard about the rules and academics later on and I thought it was out of another time. My brother became stung by Fundamentalism in his teens stung in his teens. He would send money he made from his paper route to the televangelist, Robert Tilton. He spent a lot of time away from home after I left for college under a church group. This is fascinating. I have no affiliation with Bob Jones University whatsoever, except for living in South Carolina for a few years when I was in graduate school. I got very interested in BJU in the early 00s, probably around the time I got interested in Pensacola Christian College. There was a guy called NoBoJo who made a funny website about BJU. He had gone to high school there and suffered trauma, but managed to maintain his sense of humor. I remember thinking both BJU and PCC were culty, and I was shocked that people willingly went there and spent money on tuition. I studied health administration, so I was especially curious about the hospital, where everybody got their healthcare. I will have to check out this podcast. Thanks so much for covering this.

I graduated BJU in 1994, and have soooo many stories about the wrongs everything this 'university' did. The things that I could tell would in some cases be worse than in a secular university. It is more a center to indoctrinate than a place what embraces critical thinking and open thought. In fact that was absolutely discouraged.

Great episode, Eric. Whenever I am accused of being biased or bitter against a person who has inarguably done horrible things, I ask the accuser if they may be worshipping a false god. I have a series on my channel exposing a former new ager who has gone full blown fundie, and I often get her supporters in my comments defending her. They refuse to accept that she's done anything wrong since her conversion. I will ask them Is she human? Is she fallible? Or have you made an idol out of her? That often will get them thinking.
I read all of the comments on Andrew's videos ie. Bob Jones University. I would like to expand the meaning and scope of what he is saying about this system which I think most of you do not understand about this subject. The core idea of what Andrew Is saying is this: this institution is a prime example of the idea of thought control over masses of people. Under a thought control ideation, there is always a hierarchy that presents a lifestyle that is based solely on manmade ideas and prejudices that have been developed over some time. This idea is not at all limited to fundamental Protestant religious mindsets. You can see this sociological construct in Scientology, Polygamous Mormons (FLDS), Amish, Jehovah's Witness, Nazism (Hitler), White Supremacists, Donald Trump adherents to mention a few among thousands of thought control groups. Human beings are prone by their very emotional makeup to being drawn to groups who reflect who they are whether good or bad. That is a fact of human nature. The problem arises when these groupies find their niche group has a horrendous price for belonging and acceptance......THAT PRICE IS FORFEITING THEIR ABILITY TO USE CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS TO ANALYZE WHAT IS ESPOUSED BY THEIR RESPECTIVE GROUPS. It always amounts to this underlying fact. The seriousness of the price to pay is beyond words since it means that what God has given freely has been given up upon an altar of ashes. There may be a few of these duped believers who over time come to a horrifying realization of the seriousness of their decision to embrace dangerous and useless ideas. When these few awakened ones start to question their respective leaders regarding inconsistencies in their teachings, they are dismissed because they have now become dangerous to the very fiber of the control group's thinking. All intelligent people should do a self-review of who they are affiliated with and determine if they still have the power of critical thought that they can FREELY use to question any and everything about their group's core belief system. Without this functioning ability, we become nothing more than slaves to the corrupt thinking of a societal group that has as its mission the control and dominance of the minds of its blind followers.
Great. Who controls 90% of the media, 30% of the White House, 54% of the democrat party, 25% of the Republican Party, dominates the feminist movement, owns all major prom websites, started Hollywood, receives the most foreign aid, has the largest foreign lobbyist group in DC, etc.
You are down on Christian institutions that teach only one perspective? I wonder if you would express the same sentiments towards secular institutions that are hostile towards anything “Christian” and have no room whatsoever for a “Christian Worldview?” I agree with you about Kolleges like HAC and WCBC as I doubt you could do any meaningful research on other theological perspectives if even just to be informed and to better articulate your objections.
@@PreacherBoys What you biases are only aimed at Religious schools: the Leftists secular Universities are extremely Dogmatic in their one-sided perspective of what they allow on Campus. Last time I checked BJU was a private school : even we at Biola University thought they were hyper fundamentalists. NOT all Christian schools R : your limited knowledge and experience from the IFB is only a cultic form of Christianity that I reject as Authentic Christianity.
@@richarddennis4785I think the big difference is that the secular institutions don’t cover up abuse as bad as these “churches” are. If a teacher at public school was caught fondling a kid the police would be immediately involved. But at these “churches” they silence victims and their families and sometimes even send the abuser to another “church” where they abuse other kids while promoting the abuser as some saint.
So we get it. You're against Independent Baptist Churches. I happen to know that their foundation on Biblical doctrines in regards to Salvation by Grace through faith alone is the only way to the Father. Now I happen to know that you guys are in the Presbyterian church. You've got an awful lot of fallacies to overcome and correct inside your own doctrines before you continue to slam others. You have inherited the practice of baptizing infants who are safe until they grow to the age of accountability and then when they're saved, they're qualified for baptism. Another thing, and you're not the only one, but many of the Baptist pastors, and others have accepted the teaching of John Calvin, who I should mention was born on July 10th 1509. Centuries after the Bible was completed. I'm a Bible believer, I don't need someone telling me their interpretation of the scriptures, especially when I know for a fact that they don't understand. Jesus Christ died on the Cross for the sins of the whole world 🌎. But his blood is not applied to the account of the ones who reject God's Simple Plan of Salvation. And only God has the power to know how to deal with each individual heart. God is the divider of the sheep and the goats, not us. 2 Corinthians 5:15a And that He died for "All." There are good things about any church that preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have never been to Bob Jones University. So I don't know first hand about anything that someone may have done. I do know that the gospel story is a message of love from God to mankind. Only Saved people go to heaven. Amen
I can see the religious triumphalism coming out in you, the religious narcissism that is pervasive within an IBC. Im sorry but religious authoritarianism is not godly in fact it is damaging. These men are trying to point out these satanic qualities that exist within IBC's. Everyone and everything has fallacies, that is just the human condition, nothing is perfect. They are not slamming but educating so others stay away from these demons. You claim to be a Bible believer but you lack one of its main qualities that makes a good Christian, Humility. "Only saved people go to heaven" How do you know who is saved?? are you God??? Do you have a direct line to the Lord God & Jesus?? "Judge lest you be judged" as it goes. I'm not judging you, but calling out your crap. Judging you is above my pay grade and belongs to God. I agree with you that Jesus died for our sins, but do you worship God, or do you bow down & worship at the alter of Christian authoritarianism and their cruel outlook.
Profanity is totally unnecessary and just serves to validate the perception of the IFB establishment that they are nothing more than a couple of disgruntled former fundies!
@@BeyondbjuPodcastWhy is that? Did BJU disapprove of your UnBiblical lifestyle? I'd be interested to hear whether or not they have joined the ranks of the last days apostasy?
April 14- Every Christian every human- every ministry is a reality of trying to live righteous in a fallen human body and life. We are works though in redemption . None have arrived. Your ‘need’ to ‘expose’ BJU is wanton.
I would love to see an episode on Pensacola Christian. I started speaking out against them because they have some really corrupt leadership, rules, etc Being a student there I had the first hand experience
Pensacola was founded by two BJ students back in the day when they were located in Florida back in the 1920’s. The two students thought that BJ SR. was too liberal and made PCC, much to SR’s chagrin. They are inexorably linked and hold vast amounts of animosity towards each other.
I attended a IBC with a BJU pastor back in 80s. We (youth) were a bit more familiar with a handful of schools. BJU, Pensacola, Tennessee Temple, Liberty seemed to get most attention. In our minds,BJU and Pensacola were the strict but acceptable schools. Liberty was less strict but acceptable enough. But I was unaware of the history and perceptions you mentioned regarding Pensacola and BJU. Interesting!
@@richarddennis4785 Oh, the history is pretty funny. There’s plenty of news articles, books, and multimedia about them hammering each other. One of my favorite stories about BJU is when BJ partnered with Jack Hyles at a conference to condemn Billy Graham. It’s funny because BJ and Hyles for all intents and purposes hate each other. I know it doesn’t haven’t anything to do with PCC but it’s a good story :)
I would phrase it differently. "No wonder this intelligent-sounding guy didn't like BJU seeing as how he has the discernment to see through the faux Christianlty that is its stock in trade."

This podcast has to be parody at this point...
You are down on Christian institutions that teach only one perspective? I wonder if you would express the same sentiments towards secular institutions that are hostile towards anything “Christian” and have no room whatsoever for a “Christian Worldview?”
I agree with you about Kolleges like HAC and WCBC as I doubt you could do any meaningful research on other theological perspectives if even just to be informed and to better articulate your objections.
Yeah I’m against any institutions that don’t allow a variety of perspectives to exist in discussion.
Can’t be more clear than that. 🤷🏻♂️
@@PreacherBoysThen you should be against all secular Universities as they shut down Free speech of anyone NOT leftist.

What you biases are only aimed at Religious schools: the Leftists secular Universities are extremely Dogmatic in their one-sided perspective of what they allow on Campus.
Last time I checked BJU was a private school : even we at Biola University thought they were hyper fundamentalists.
NOT all Christian schools R : your limited knowledge and experience from the IFB is only a cultic form of Christianity that I reject as Authentic Christianity.
How exactly is a secular institution supposed to make room for a Christian worldview? What does that even mean?
@@richarddennis4785I think the big difference is that the secular institutions don’t cover up abuse as bad as these “churches” are. If a teacher at public school was caught fondling a kid the police would be immediately involved. But at these “churches” they silence victims and their families and sometimes even send the abuser to another “church” where they abuse other kids while promoting the abuser as some saint.

Well what do you know he can cuss ? Wow , what an achievement !
2 Corinthians 5:15a
And that He died for "All." There are good things about any church that preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ. I have never been to Bob Jones University. So I don't know first hand about anything that someone may have done. I do know that the gospel story is a message of love from God to mankind. Only Saved people go to heaven. Amen
I’m not, and never have been, Presbyterian. 🤔
Oh look, an anti-Presbyterian comment in tract form, how quaint and benign :) thanks for the memories
4:51 WOW! This guy even knows the F word. How impressive. Sorry, Eric, you lost ne on this one.
Profanity is totally unnecessary and just serves to validate the perception of the IFB establishment that they are nothing more than a couple of disgruntled former fundies!
Oh no! I really need your approval… 🥺😜

BJU=Bum Jack University.
I would love to see an episode on Pensacola Christian. I started speaking out against them because they have some really corrupt leadership, rules, etc Being a student there I had the first hand experience

What was the reference to Pensacola when bju is in Greenville?
No wonder this girly sounding guy didn't like BJU.
Well, I’m not the only one who had a bad experience. And yes, I’m obviously gay. Move along Billy Bob. 😒
I would phrase it differently. "No wonder this intelligent-sounding guy didn't like BJU seeing as how he has the discernment to see through the faux Christianlty that is its stock in trade."
I didn’t realize you were gay but now it all makes sense.
@@BeyondbjuPodcastI Laodicea the problem here. Probably too generous at that.
Yes, because AD Hom. attacks certainly validate your assertions, well done.
