    It is always great that you point out that everybody has different requirements for a system. We all have different things we want out of a system and being able to draw out those requirements from a customer is critical to having a successful continuing business.

      @@paulchristiansen7014 Me too and I also like it subwoofer heavy though. I really adore the Sony Mobile ES speakers because the sound quality is extremely high for the price, slim mounting depth, and look very pretty.

      Same. I sound treated all 4 doors in my Highlander, and holy crap what a difference in volume, detail, and bass for my 4 Kicker KSS6504s. Dean's attention to detail keeps gnawing at me to also solder and fabric tape all my wire harness connections behind the dash. If he took my HU out, he'd be ashamed, lol...

      I was based in Holland for a while back in 2002, and decided to do an install. The car audio shop down the road recommended Hertz to me so that's what I got and fitted.
      Meanwhile, one of my freinds bought a new BMW with an expensive optional Harmon Kardon system. He was totally appalled at how I built something from "thug shops" and it totally owned his "top of the range" system.
      TLDR: Hertz = pretty good.

    It's funny... I ended up doing something similar to my Frontier... 3-way 6x9 in the doors, and the dome tweeter in the dash. I was told that this would be too much tweet...and I'd be better off using a component set, with correct crossovers. I like how it sounds... the sound accuracy is pretty impressive. What are your thoughts? I actually 3D printed my dash mounts for my tweeters. I used PETG to prevent summertime melt down.

    Fantastic video! Was curious if you've done a Tacoma with the JBL setup? Have been trying to research ways to retrain all stock locations and add some extra bass using the existing sub enclosure. Don't want my ears to bleed, just clean sound with some more thump than factory.

  • @ShainAndrews
    @ShainAndrews 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    01:02:16 Why is the dash out of phase?
    Man this really has me thinking. I'm considering the reflection off the windshield... also considering the arrival delta between speaker location. But I'm missing something that would justify the dash being out of phase and some how arriving at the listening position in phase. I can't see how a reflection would invert the phase, and time correction should be the solution to align them with the door. So I see some forums stating any separation more than 8-10 inches the tweeters should be out of phase. So it has to be associated with arrival delta. I can sort of get my head around it now.

    Awesome 2+ day install, enjoyed all the extras and attention to details. I have the exact 2020 Tacoma on the thumbnail. I have swapped the 4 door speakers previously and waiting for my 5 channel amp to arrive. I plan to high level speed wire from the OEM head unit to the amp and speed wire back to the speakers wiring harness. The 8" kicker loaded sub 46TL7T82 fits in the rear pasenger pocket with grill behind the seat. I love your custom amp rack and fuse holder mount. Do you sell these items or can you provide info on find similar product here in Canada? Great video, nice work!

    Hey what size heat shrink do you use for example to go over the rca head but also shrink enough to the actual rca wire like you guys have there.

    • @mainmanmustard
      @mainmanmustard 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not the size, it’s the shrink factor. Not all shrink tube is made the same. You have 2:1, where it shrinks by half, 3:1 where it shrinks to a third the original size and 4:1 to go to a quarter of original size. I’m sure there are other shrink factor heat shrinks, but those are the most common ones. You’d want a 3:1 or 4:1 for RCA’s like the stingers with small wire jackets. Just make sure if your using 4:1 to start on the wire side and shrink only enough around the rca end to make it tight. Too much over heating and you’ll split the shrink.

    To be fair, you can have a bleedingly loud system that retains high quality. I pump 150w into my door speakers. I wired driver front and driver rear door speakers into a 2ohm load. Same on passenger side. Pumped 150w into them. I can legit get out of the car with the doors open, in a parking lot, crank it to max volume, and its like being at a stadium, no distortion, ridiculously loud, and the quality is still there. You can legit hear me from blocks away if I ever turn it up to max. Thankfully I'm not deaf yet so I never really go to max except when I'm outside the car and showing off. Inside the car I sit more around the 50-75% mark.

      Well, there is nearly $6,500 in equipment and installation accessories alone.... And I'd figure AT LEAST $1,500 for installation LABOR, but probably closer to $2500+ due to the sound deadening installation and custom amp & tweeter mounts. So a rough total of $9,000-$10,000.
